>>Author's Note

>>I wanted to try a role reversal without magic, domination, unwilling participants, too willing participants, hypnosis, or technology not based in current capability. Guys are guys but the rules change around them.

So, instead, the author used money (greed), sex, and the promise of more sex -- in other words, manipulation and seduction. Forced fem by manipulation (subtle force is, to my mind, still force) can be identified as a sub-sub-genre in TG fiction, with many examples available at the various repository sites (the Gaby series by Maddy Bell, and the moms feminizing their children stories by Judi Emmerich [available on Fictionmania] spring to mind). This story, though, has a difference, which makes it more interesting.

Neither gender has a monopoly on being manipulative and devious. However, men and women, as separate groups, have distinctive styles that are unique to each. In all other TG stories I have read where the main character(s) is/are manipulated, maneuvered, seduced, and persuaded into femininity, I can definitely feel the feminine energy. It shows through attitudes and mindsets, cajoling arguments that are presented, situations that are "arranged" to bring pressure to bear, and so on. Although the plan, both its devising and execution, is ascribed strictly to women in this story, the feel of all those elements is, to me, distinctly masculine. Of course, the masculine energy of the narrator definitely comes through -- I refer to the situations created and arguments presented to "turn the heat up on the frog one degree at a time," and push the subjects of this little maneuver along the arranged path. In my experience, that makes this story fairly unique in TG fiction.

---

Some of the specific elements I feel are masculine: an external, tangible incentive (money) is employed (the participants may quit at any time), and there many impersonal elements to the manipulation (the people who execute the plan are doing it as part of their jobs, and their targets "get with the program" at least in part because of their employment). In stories about women who manipulate boys into femininity, everything is much more personal, much more emotional, and the "target" is left with no escape (or at least with none that does not carry an extreme emotional price) if possible.

I enjoyed the story and was amazed how much the story led the reader to fit it to his/her fantasy.
If I had to make one point, it would be that the story is fine just as it is, but would interesting if the author chose to  continue the story.
Would like to read more from this author.

I appreciate your comment. The story was fun to write but the characters got submerged into the setup, so I found as I got to the end that they lacked the warmth you get from real character development. That would have made it a very long story which was supposed to have been a short exercise in how you would get regular guys to assume the womans role with their total consent.
To develop the Janet /Robert realtionship would require some real character building which would then force a rewrite back on the first part. At least that is how I felt. Plus I just could not wait to type "Boiling the aquarium".
Again, thanks for the feedback. I have submitted a companion exercise, set in the Ozarks called "The Queen of Country Music", which takes a similar premise from a bit different cultural perspective. I hope you enjoy it.

very well-crafted story. Subtle and intelligent, had me laughing at the end. "Cooking to catch a good woman" :-) You were excellent on the pacing. I knew what was coming but it still happened so gradually it caught me off guard. And the humor was uncommonly good.

My only problem was with the end...it seemed a little unfinished. I'd like to see Robert's life after the whole time with the company. If he's changed any etc.

Kudos on an excellent and surprising story.

The importance of reader feedback cannot be overstated.   Authors rely on it to improve their future works, and it gives them the incentive to write more stories if they know that their hard work has been appreciated.  I am not saying that comments must all be lauditory.  Authors often appreciate honest, constructive criticism over simple remarks like 'Great story', although simple praise is appreciated also.  There is no limit on how much you can enter in the 'comments' box.   Sentences will automatically word wrap at the end of the line so please do not use your carriage return/enter key except at the end of your paragraphs.
