Well, as I prepare my MMD, I am again amezad how my check-ins at this site always yield some weekly viewing similarities. We have some similar expectations David! I saw this film last night with Lucille at the Landmark Cinemas at 9:55 P.M. after an earlier screening of the Peruvian THE MILK OF SORROW at the Cinema Village.  I thought the Peruvian film fairly-good, but also frustrating, but I was absolutely riveted with ANIMAL KINGDOM.  Yeah, the Australian dialect was not always easy to navigate, but there were some stunning set piece, a buffo ending, some great psychological underpinnings, and as you note that great score from Partos, and the excellent Melbourne settings.  For me it's a contender for the years Ten Best list so far, and quite a bit better than your own judgement.  But hey, I fully respect your position, and could see why this film (much like THE SQUARE released last year stateside) might be seen as a convoluted mess.Sam   I didn't find The Square to be too convoluted (convolutions are inherent to such melodramas), though looking back on both films, they did share a similar  in medias res  aspect that allowed some plot holes to be glided over.  I suppose my reactions to both films were influenced by my expectations   The Square I expected little and was wickedly entertained (and loved Claire Van Der Boom), while Animal Kingdom I had very high expectations and was frustrated by some things.  Both are solid entries though.   DHS

We should be angry at Brian.  Instead the women are such bitches, especially Debbie, who would make a good Waffen SS camp guard, that we root for Brian to yank that zapper out of her hand and give her a dose of her own medicine.

Francesca is right with her comments. I also would like to see the story continue. This is the type of story that keeps my interest as it contains portions of it that seem to force the main character into her new life. I'm sure Jacki, can do much with this story line if she wants too do so. Although the story had a proper ending, it leaves much that can take place with a part 2 too it. I hope that this comment will help give that initiative for a sequeal.

Very good variation on a familiar theme. I feel it either ended too soon or that there was plenty of scope for a sequel. I enjoyed it ,thank you.

The importance of reader feedback cannot be overstated.   Authors rely on it to improve their future works, and it gives them the incentive to write more stories if they know that their hard work has been appreciated.  I am not saying that comments must all be lauditory.  Authors often appreciate honest, constructive criticism over simple remarks like 'Great story', although simple praise is appreciated also.  There is no limit on how much you can enter in the 'comments' box.   Sentences will automatically word wrap at the end of the line so please do not use your carriage return/enter key except at the end of your paragraphs.
