A group of males would tend to combativeness in adverse situations.  You usually cover incidentals better.  the reading was still engrossing and fun. the premise inovative.  Today a class, tomorrow the world!

Given the above,  what happened doesn't make sense.    There is no mention of the teachers using force after the basic change, or hypnosis, yet there was no mention of violent rebellion , escape attempts, or attempted suicides from the kidnapped males against something that all of them hated at first; there didn't even seem to be much anger at their captors.  The captors, in effect, did what one of their own said (above) only males transformed into females could do.  But if Jo and the others were themselves transformed males, who transformed them?
