While I certainly enjoyed this story, as I do with most of Jennifer's stories, I just could not believe that Theodore had his will broken so quickly and readily accepted his new position as house maid.

I look forward to reading a lot more Jennifer White stories that hold up better than this one.

Addendum to my previous post (should have *CHECKED THE FACTS FIRST*, darn it!)

Miss Quinlan lapsed into a coma in 1975, after ingesting what was described as "...a combination of sedatives and alcohol...". I believe it was gin & tonic and Valium, but I may be mistaken.

She died of pneumonia on June 11, 1985, more than 9 years after being disconnected from a respirator. The court decision giving her parents the right to do so was handed down on March 31, 1976-- ironically, that was two days after their daughter's twenty-third birthday.

Interesting turnabout.

However, I cringed when I read about the protagonist drugging her (soon-to-be-ex-) husband with a concoction composed of LIQUOR AND TRANQUILIZERS.

While this *MIGHT* be possible, the consequences of such a combination are usually DANGEROUS, and often LETHAL.

The famous and tragic case of the late Karen Anne Quinlan is but one example--she lapsed into an irreversible vegetative state after consuming two or three gin & tonic cocktails while also taking Valium under prescription (traces of the drug were still in her system when she imbibed the liquor at a party), and died nearly 20 years later, her parents having won, in court, the right to disconnect the life-support machinery that was helping her breathe several years earlier.

As usual, no criticism is intended. While I doubt that the author intended for that part of the story to be interpreted as I have seen to do so, if this were a real-life scenario, I find it probable, and even LIKELY, that the unfaithful husband would end up in the hospital (either very sick, in an irreversible coma, or dead), and the mentally and emotionally abused wife would most likely be charged with either attempted murder or murder.

Very interesting story  Ben  must of been more male than fem did not get in to it, But Tammy must have had the femmmy  side there to go over so quick. Tammy all girl and seem to love  IT .I just love this story. Funny how some times so called Macho men are feminine deep down inside .Before I transition I was a real Macho dork now as Jane I am nothing like that macho dork, I am a better person for it.So I can see where this story comes from.

The importance of reader feedback cannot be overstated.   Authors rely on it to improve their future works, and it gives them the incentive to write more stories if they know that their hard work has been appreciated.  I am not saying that comments must all be lauditory.  Authors often appreciate honest, constructive criticism over simple remarks like 'Great story', although simple praise is appreciated also.  There is no limit on how much you can enter in the 'comments' box.   Sentences will automatically word wrap at the end of the line so please do not use your carriage return/enter key except at the end of your paragraphs.
