I agree this is a good story, but it should have been followed-up with a year of discovery.  The ups and the downs. The story line shows "caught w/ consequences".  This was not the case,  it was discovery but w/o consq.. It should be noted while every character presented accepted this unconditionally, it left to many open questions.

I enjoyed your story but it would have been better if you had contiued the story, perhaps into Jennifer's womanhood.

What a treasure it is to have three stories from this amazing talent. Aoife writes with a simplicity and an economy of words that makes her stories very powerful -- because there is nothing to distract from the raw emotions they contain. I can only hope that she may decide to write some more, one day...

This story is truly an undiscovered gem. This story produces deep feelings, sympathies, and strikes familiar chords to those who have had simialr experiences.  Well told, and not overloaded with description.  Just enough to produce the right results.  Anne is lucky, she may have lost a son, but if the problem had gotten worse, she could have lost the daughter too.  And she can still rejoice in her memories of the past and doesn't have to feel her child has died, merely changed a little on the outside.

Read "Homecoming" as well as "Jennifer" today. --- Whoa, my tear ducts are under major minor strain. Entirely believable accounts, both in the sense of being able to imagine these scenes actually happening as well as perhaps your reader wishing to have had such valuable and heartfelt experiences. Thank you, Aiofe!

Sweet and sentimental?  Perhaps.  But I think bittersweet would be more appropriate.  Jennifer is indeed fortunate to have the support of her mother and sister.  As Anne surmises she is facing a difficult period in front of her.  But you have to be happy for her finally being able to express her true self.  It is Anne I feel sad for.  Her grieving for the loss of her son is rather poignant.  Thank you for a realistic story.

And oh, by the way Aoife, feel free to finish "A Road Less Travelled" any time now. ;-)  You made a really good start with it and it would be a shame not to complete.  (A gentle nudge) Especially since *all* the reader comments on it over the past two years have been positive.  Hugs.

The importance of reader feedback cannot be overstated.   Authors rely on it to improve their future works, and it gives them the incentive to write more stories if they know that their hard work has been appreciated.  I am not saying that comments must all be lauditory.  Authors often appreciate honest, constructive criticism over simple remarks like 'Great story', although simple praise is appreciated also.  There is no limit on how much you can enter in the 'comments' box.   Sentences will automatically word wrap at the end of the line so please do not use your carriage return/enter key except at the end of your paragraphs.
