There is a group of academics who picture social life as a constant power struggle, with the underprivileged always seeking to replace the ruling elite. Chances are you have heard of at least one of these academics -- he was known to the world as Karl Marx. Not all conflict sociologists, however, see economic power as the specific advantage over which the "classes" are struggling. Many feminists, for example, have bought into conflict theory, and imagine a ruling patriarchy, which they seek to overturn and replace with a ruling matriarchy. Reversal and domination, not equality, is what they want.

Julie's story reads like this sort of feminist's fantasy of a traditional marriage -- as seen from the loser's end. There, now I've gone and spoiled the surprise ending, if you were able to follow me to this point. If you weren't, do read the story. You might just understand what I am saying when an apparently loving and docile housewife turns out to be someone who looks to feeling sexually powerful as an anodyne to the miserable longing and self-loathing.

The importance of reader feedback cannot be overstated.   Authors rely on it to improve their future works, and it gives them the incentive to write more stories if they know that their hard work has been appreciated.  I am not saying that comments must all be lauditory.  Authors often appreciate honest, constructive criticism over simple remarks like 'Great story', although simple praise is appreciated also.  There is no limit on how much you can enter in the 'comments' box.   Sentences will automatically word wrap at the end of the line so please do not use your carriage return/enter key except at the end of your paragraphs.

It is not necessary to use your real name here, and, email addresses are optional.  Posting your email address will allow the author to thank you for taking the time to post your comments, and/or discuss critiques and address possible concerns.
