He didn't deserve what he got. He never disrespected her. And anyone facing a demotion is usually given the option to seek employment elsewhere. That would have been what I would have done. If things had progressed any further without her meddling she would probably have inherited his office at his recommendation.

I think this is a great story and my comment to Karen is lighten up! This is FANTASY!  I toolove the stories about bosses blackmailed, demoted, who become secretaries on a dare, out of unemployment or whatever.  It's true that bosses no longer dare sleep with secretaries any more, but again...suspension od disbelief

I also don't understand the remark to retire the genre based on the fact YOU don't like the story.  If you don't like them you shouldn't read them.

Sorry, but this one lost me about 15 K in. In the first place, in the 21st century, any exec who would sleep with a newly- hired office assistant might as well paint a big target on his back. The risks of that, which are enormous (and rightfully so), weren't even mentioned- no weighing of it in his mind before he started it. Also, excuse me, but when does an exec fill in for his secretary when she goes on a trip? Hasn't anybody here heard of temps? Not to mention the fact of what company is going to pay someone the large salary  this guy was making, just to be a file clerk. And all this is supposed to have come about without anybody in the company noticing that something is amiss? There's just a little too much fantasyland here for me to enjoy this- maybe it's time this sub-genre got retired, at least until somebody can come up with some fresh (and at least halfway credible) story lnes.

Andrea Foster and I are almost of the same exact mind on these things, same as Ax.  This is a wonderful, believable story and I don't know how much I could add. I loved your WOMEN IN THE NEWS and would have kinda liked to have seen that protagonist, a journalist who was a secretary briefly, stay secretarial.

I think the only thing that would've been fun would have been if he'd have had to kind of "run the gamut," walking in past all the girls he'd worked with in his past position.

Andi's comment about the transition being a bit too fast has some merit. It would have been interesting if this would have been done along the lines Andi mentioned.  But please, please take that as constructive criticism.

I've sometimes wanted to see stories where a boss winds up secretarial and actually ENJOYS it more than making the big decisions.  If anyone could write it you could.  You seem to find a lot of different areas to occupy you with stories, but please do some more in this vein or even in other workplace formats.  Blackmail, bets, dares, punishment all have potential.  And if anyone can make it sing, dear, it's you!

I must confess that I have a very soft spot for boss-into-secretary stories. The theme has the huge frisson of dominance and submission, and in a much more contemporary, familiar and believable setting than the rather hackneyed male maids genre. It also taps in to the undercurrent of supressed sexuality that simmers beneath the civility of the workplace.

This story is a fine example of the genre, and I enjoyed it a lot. I particularly liked the low-key approach the author took. Many stories have the hapless boss turned into some huge-breasted, big-haired, stilt-heeled caricature of a secretary. I feel that the conservative, realistic image that Maxine forces on her victim is a more effective trap, and represents a greater domination.

If I have to make a negative comment (so that this can be "constructive critisism" rather than a simple gush), I'd say that Maxine's creation of Vivian was a bit too sudden. The Boss goes from not cross-dressing at all to passing as a woman in public in a matter of minutes. It might have been better for Maxine to ease him into it by dressing him as her secretary and training him in the role as a private "game". Then on D-Day, when he was relaxed and comfortable as Vivian, lock up his man's clothes and force him publicly into his new identity.

Not sure if he fully deserve what he got but it was a wonderful story. We don't get enough office stories these days.

The best story you've ever done and you've done some great ones.  I love it.  It's a classic office femdom piece and done up stylishly and entertainingly.  I would LOVE to be in Viv's position!  You are a giant in the field, my dear!
