Over here (UK), US style Hallowe'en is pretty new and when I was a nipper it passed by totally unnoticed, so everything I know about this strange custom is what I've picked up on the TG fiction sites.  However, I rather like this little story. I'm not sure, but I think the whole point is Dawn's wistful reflections that this boy was able to claim 'to be a girl too', without attracting the approbium that would have been typical when Dawn was a similar age.  The curly hair comment demonstrates that irony is not dead in 21st century USA, as is often claimed.

If I've got hold of the wrong end of the stick entirely - please don't tell me :o).  It takes a lot for me to bother reading a fragment like this - and the author's name at the top is the biggest spur.

I loved it -- "hell being a girl with hair as curly as yours."
Wonder which girl gets him into her prom dress first.

The importance of reader feedback cannot be overstated.   Authors rely on it to improve their future works, and it gives them the incentive to write more stories if they know that their hard work has been appreciated.  I am not saying that comments must all be lauditory.  Authors often appreciate honest, constructive criticism over simple remarks like 'Great story', although simple praise is appreciated also.  There is no limit on how much you can enter in the 'comments' box.   Sentences will automatically word wrap at the end of the line so please do not use your carriage return/enter key except at the end of your paragraphs.
