Dear Jennifer:

I'm afraid that, IMHO, this was one of your weakest efforts.

First is the sloppiness -- at first Our hero/heroine used to be Mark and his buddy was Phil, but in the next paragraph onward, his ex-buddy, her new lover and husband-to-be was Mark.

Second, and I believe this to be a habit of your incredible prolificness (of which I am quite jealous, dear Jen), we really get no feeling for who these people are, or why this transfgormation is happening and why the hot-chick-turned-stud was doing this.  I guess you do this so often, you get tired of explaining and figure that we will simply extrapolate from your other works.  In any event, I thought this huge hole made any context for the story or empathy with its characters impossible for me.  And why on Earth would Phil/Mark, who just scored with a "hot chick" with no strings attached who he does not know, suddenly take the impetus to marry her -- is he under the same spell?  If so, why?  What is going on here?

Anyway, I'll stop here before my review is longer than your story.  As you know from my past reviews, I love most of your works and consider you a very talented writer.  This is why I'd love to see you, slow down and settle down a bit, perhaps submit a bit less frequently and spend more time honing and developing.

Love & Huggles,
Sheryl S.

The importance of reader feedback cannot be overstated.   Authors rely on it to improve their future works, and it gives them the incentive to write more stories if they know that their hard work has been appreciated.  I am not saying that comments must all be lauditory.  Authors often appreciate honest, constructive criticism over simple remarks like 'Great story', although simple praise is appreciated also.  There is no limit on how much you can enter in the 'comments' box.   Sentences will automatically word wrap at the end of the line so please do not use your carriage return/enter key except at the end of your paragraphs.

It is not necessary to use your real name here, and, email addresses are optional.  Posting your email address will allow the author to thank you for taking the time to post your comments, and/or discuss critiques and address possible concerns.

Be forewarned that abusive remarks and language will be removed, and the posters may be banned from this AND other areas of StorySite.
