<< But once the secret is out, the family is supportive, and it turns out to be for the better. >>

How do we know the family is supportive?  Only Mom and Mary know; dad's p[art of the family too.  How do we know it turns out to be for the better?  Nothing has actually happened at the end of the story.  We really need a part two.

Dear Heidi,

Another lovely story. Nicely written it shows the love of the family for each other. Each character was nicely developed and interwoven.

You've, "got," to write about the getting ready for the picnic and the enjoyment the clothes by Henry and perhaps the helpfulness by his sister.

It's always nice to read about someone wanting to change rather than being forced to do so.

You haven't written in a while and I hope your e-address is still active.

Hugs,

Susan Pauline

I have read What's in a name and the Picture. Both stories are very nice. But, The Picture needs to be continued. I want to find out what happens when Heidi's father sees her in a dress. I want to see what is going to happen at the Picnic. You must continue.

Great effort!  I love the flow, the conversational tone.  There may be an underuse of contractions near the beginning, but it smooths out quickly.  I am looking forward to part 2.
