Interesting and original insights. More than the standard fare one, unfortunately, has come to expect about this topic.  Enjoyed it!  Thanks, LoveBites

Excellent insights, way above and beyond the politically correct, lockstep views of those who hold themselves up as the spokespersons for transwomen the world over. Courageous, real, and just wow!

Many readers are close-minded and narrow-minded. They can't recognize a real point of view when they read one, as their rude and ignorant comments show. I love Cal's stories, and he's an original and clear thinker who's not afraid to be controversial or tell it as he sees it. His detractors should try to write something once. In fact, they should try to write something that's both interesting or entertaining and truthful. Most people, though, are sheep.

Bri is right, this essay is quite sexist and I don't agree at all. However, there is no denying of the fact the many many males and females think much alike cal, which is sad.

I am a pre-op transsexual too, although not very pretty. The good thing the hormones have done for me is that at the age of 35, people tend to think that I am much younger :) All in all, I am very happy to have chosen this lifestyle !

as to my sexuality, when I started on my path, I was certain that I was going to be a lesbian woman, well, that has changed over the last couple of years and I find male attention rather unsettling, in a nice way. for me the man hunt is open and I am hoping to find one day a man with whom I can share my existence and maybe even adopt a child or two ?

what I want to say is that I don't feel like a 'plaything' or like an object, but rather like an individual who has transferred part of her sexuality on a more spiritual level and who desires the same things as anybody else, friendship, companionship and maybe one day true love !

love,
lucie

Interesting observations.  So literary in nature.  I like the detail in your essay.

I also found this to be offensive, sexist bullshit, but what do you expect from men?

Comment by Bri on 08/03/07
What a beyond offensive essay. You have no understanding of this situation at all, Cal.

I am a 27-year-old pre-op transsexual woman, and a very pretty one if I do say so myself - ask Pippa and others in the Storysite forum. We are not "imitations" of women. We certainly don't exist for men's sexual pleasure. Your essay shows a total lack of understanding of what we are and what we aspire to be.

Transsexuality has nothing to do with sex. Indeed, the hormones make us impotent and unable to have erections. Estrogen completely changes our sex drive, and in some cases even changes our sexuality (such as mine).

Transsexuality is a very difficult journey to find our own identity. It doesn't help to have jerks like you claiming we are sex objects, that we are not women, and that we only exist for sex. We generally just want to be normal women.

I would not give you the time of day.

Bri

The importance of reader feedback cannot be overstated.   Authors rely on it to improve their future works, and it gives them the incentive to write more stories if they know that their hard work has been appreciated.  I am not saying that comments must all be lauditory.  Authors often appreciate honest, constructive criticism over simple remarks like 'Great story', although simple praise is appreciated also.  There is no limit on how much you can enter in the 'comments' box.   Sentences will automatically word wrap at the end of the line so please do not use your carriage return/enter key except at the end of your paragraphs.
