Ms. White is truly in her metier with the boss-secretary role reversal - no one does it better. "To Be The One," while not quite up to the standard of "Into The Pool," is a charming story in its own right which exhibits Ms. White's usual deft touch when it comes to detail. As with "Into the Pool," "One's" ending strays a little ways from the usual path such stories travel, another strenght of Ms. White's. The normal assumption would be that Mark/Ashley would end up being Gina's secretary following the latter's promotion, but Ms. White eschews this standard formula for a somewhat surprising conclusion. The romantic in me hoped that Gina's weighing company policy against a continuance of her relationship with Mark/Ashley was the last of her "tests" but, alas, Ms. White has a more bitter-sweet ending in mind for her characters - another example of why she is so good at this type of story.

What would be interesting is Ashley watching his former love suddenly taking on male boyfriends, who pick her up at work and eventually after SRS finding his own, a low-level clerk, and realizing that he actually was better off than before.

I enjoyed it and I agree with Andrea's comments. We both enjoy boss-to-secretary stories.  Your use of language is dead-on, never clumsy and your sense of timing is first-rate.  I do wonder if you could do something with the stressed out boss-confident secretary bet scenario: who can do each job better with the reward being majority ownership. Which she wins, while he finds himself less stressed doing the support tasks and enjoying the clothes as well.

Thanks again for a first rate slate of stories!

I enjoyed this. The plot is a fairly standard one, but the twist at the end is different and keeps it fresh and sweet. As they say "The classics never go out of style".
