Wow! I really enjoyed this. I think you wrote the transition from Robert to Pia brilliantly...and your writing truly moved me to tears. Even though I only knew your characters for this afternoon, I can't help but think that I will miss them terribly. I look forward to reading more of your work. Thank you, Natalie.

Excelent story! The characters are quite believable and it's easy to feel compassion for them. I was wondering if you were going to bring Robert's memories back into Pia somehow but the way you ended it was phenominal. Completely moving and satisfying ending. Well done indeed!

I must have missed this one when I went through the list. I really enjoyed it, as it has everything I like: real people, a believable plot (at a pinch) and a happy ending.  Thanks.

I ejoyed your story a lot.  By the time the end came, (which is really a continuous story of the love of family).  I like your writing.  I was well done.  Thank you.  You have touched my heart.

This is easily the best story on this site and that is high praise! I've read it twice now and I think it was better on the second reading. More stories, please!

Thank you to all who have commented on this story. I have written and published many stories, mostly on my own site but this one was an experiment for me in a new genre.
Thank you again for taking the time to comment.

As I read this story, the best I have read on this site, I was so impressed by the tenderness...as I read When Doves Cry, I could hear the words to "Softly As I Leave You" and I cried too. Thank you for this wonderful tale of hope, courage and love. I look forward to your next effort.

What a treat.

Articulate writing, full of detail, realistic sentiment (not cloying), sympathetic charcters well developed, authentic dialogue.

It couldn't be better.

Looking forward to more from NN!

Beautiful story dear, I too shed a few tears at the end. I am glad Pia relized the story was true, and knew what Julitta ment to herin both the before and after. Julitta could have been vindictive when she relized who she was, but she still had love for Robert even though he had treated her like an inanimate object prior to the change. It is a true love story, even though the love changed in a different way. He really did give julitta what she always wanted, a Child of her own.

Looking forward to more stories, your an excellant writer.

Hugs
Joni

A beautiful story, Natalie.  I can say so many things, I think not though, others have expressed their opinions that reflect myne.  I found your story to be a tear-jerker.  If this was  paper, it would be tear-stained.
Look forward to your next story.

Natalie,
I found this to be a lovely and heart warming love story.  The love of a new daughter for a mother that cares for her and teaches her the best things that life has to offer.

Please keep writing stories, you bring them to life so well.

I absolutely hate identity death stories where the death is forced and the result is viewed as a happy ending, and I am, I think, unfortunately for me, known for ranting on and on about it.  Well, guess what?  That old saying about the exception that proves the rule is true.  I LOVED this story and was crying real feminine tears of sadness and happiness at the end - it's a girl thing, and I don't get to be one all that often.  Congratulations Natalie, and thank you so much for this wonderful story.  Maybe it will help mellow me; I hope so.

Natalie,

Your story has everything that I love in tg fiction. A sentimental story. A chance to experience a different perspective and character change through the eyes of a character. I particularily liked the shift in setting, from London to Austrailia. The setting shift helped to highlight the change in the main character, from self absorbed business person who exploits the weak, to selfless helper of the weakest among us. You have a wonderful, wonderful imagination, and you also have very nice writing skills. Thank you so much for contributing your work.

What a powerfully emotional story!  I cried at the end and it made me believe that true love doesn't die but transcends the body.  It was a wonderful statement of love and emotion.  Thank you for sharing the beauty and emotion of this story.

Your story was moving and wonderful.  I cannot tell you how many tissues that I used towards the ending.  I'm looking forward to many more stories from you.  best regards and a wonderful future.

Comment by Geoff on 01/25/04
Some people think that if memories are lost in transition, then it is tantamount to murder.  Someone, though apparently alive, ceases to exist.  That, in general, is my view, but in this story we witness the gradual flowering of a new person and an old relationship is renewed.  It is all beautifully done, and I congratulate Natalie on a wonderful and touching story peopled with real characters.  The renewed Pia with her former wife, now becoming her de facto mother, develop a deep love that lasts, and they feel real.

In the end though, I'm sure Pia remembers everything, especially the love she feels towards her mother, Julietta, and is still content with her life's course.

An excellent story with a high tissue count.

Geoff
