You can now register your name so that when you leave a comment, people will know that it came from you and not from someone trying to impersonate you. There have been some problems on other boards with mischief makers using someone else's name. Names are registered on a first come, first registered basis. Once a name is registered, no one can use it unless they know the password.

      Additionally, having a registered name will prevent you from receiving a ban notice if your internet address happens to fall within a range of addresses banned from site access because trolls are using the ISP's server to hide their real address. Registration on the board is not required, but it can save you headaches later.

      To register a name, you must disclose your email address. I never use email addresses for nefarious purposes, as any author can tell you. It's required because I know that people will forget their password from time to time, and I don't wish to spend my time looking them up. Also, only one registered name is allowed per email address.

      So... if you've forgotten your password, the system can automatically send it to your email address in order to get you going again, and you won't have to wait for me to track it down and send it to you. Great, eh? Just provide the name, and the email address that was used to register it, if you need to have your password sent to you. If the email matches what we have on file, the password will be sent out in seconds. If you don't remember what address you used, or if it's changed, you'll have to contact me directly.       Once you've registered, your name will remain active for one year. If you fail to post within that time, the name goes inactive. No one else can use it, but neither can you until you reactivate it. Each time you post, the date is reset and you have one year again. If you fail to post within five years, the name is returned to the available pool.

      After you fill in the information below, the server will send an activation code to your email address. Use the link in the email to activate the record and your screen name will be registered. That's all there is to it. Not all fields must be filled out for all options. Use the table below to identify which fields are required for each option.

      Important Note - Capitalized letters are often treated as having different values than lower case letters in naming situations, but for our purposes, they are not. So, for example, "josephine" will be treated the same as "JOsePhine", BUT, capitals in PASSWORDS DO make a difference, so a password of 'StorySite' is not the same as 'storysite'. (I suggest that you don't pick one this simple to deduce.)

      Final Note - If you fail to complete the registration process within 3 days, the name will once again become available for use by anyone.
