"Ugh," came the sound of relief as Major flopped down on the couch. He grabbed the remote that lay on the coffee table next to his Budweiser and clicked the television on. He found himself restless, unable to stick to one show, but clicking through the channels. Taking a long swig from his beer, he looked at the random channel he was on. Some reality show about fashion designers.

"Stupid garbage," he said, dismissively clicking away at the remote, finally staying on a hockey game that had just started. Sometime during the evening, a few beers later, he fell asleep on the couch, the noise of the television lulling him to sleep.

The next morning Major awoke to the sun in his eyes. It took him a few moments to realize where he was and what had happened. He stood up and stretched, taking a moment to get his bearings. That was when he noticed the time on the clock.

"Holy shit! 8:30?!?!" He shouted, as he frantically ran for his bedroom, throwing on a new shirt and tie, and running for the door. He just caught the bus when he got downstairs, but knew that he'd be at least 30 minutes late for work that morning, and Mrs. Tompkins hated tardiness. There would be hell to pay.
