Again the Major was at the desk tidy and early the next Monday. She had had a good weekend meeting with old friends.

Mrs. Watkins had been right, for that little softness in the chest had made the Major and Colonel the special attraction at the evening Port/Whisky hour, and thereafter mobile phone text messaging was busy as regimental expectations were met with room by room encounter.

The Colonel was late this Monday, following disagreement with his wife who objected to Collette’s low cut bodice line, and somehow it seemed that the basis of the wife’s power over the Colonel was no longer impregnable.

Marjorie was not pained to explain his/her body changes, found herself to be more popular than at all times in his army career.

But her main preoccupation on this morning was to prepare for a meeting with Mrs. Watkins at the ‘Defense Department Selections and Pensions Board’, for they had questioned a ‘Gentleman and Officer’s Entitlement’ to a pension following changes in Marjorie’s circumstances.

Mrs. Watkins handed the Pensions Board with aplomb, suggesting that the name of ‘Marjorie’ was more of an in house ‘knick name’, and the gender change was a temporary job related change having no necessity to alter census statistics and income tax status.

She scorned the Department’s jesuitical intrusion into privacy, and threatened to unleash GrayPower influence by invoking ‘elderly parents harassment’ on Board Members, on their superiors and on their political overlords.

Mrs. Watkins was coldly cynical in describing the electoral influence GrayPower could assert at the polls if this matter did not stop!

While Mrs. Watkins was effective at these meetings, unfortunately, there was spillage as GrayPower’s modus operandi became known and the Navy wanted to use using GrayPower Change Technology for the duration of extended of submarine, aircraft carrier, and certain of the Destroyer Fleet voyages.

The Defense Department made attempts to second the Colonel and Major to train ‘Services Transform Conscripts’, but neither was interested because the studies would obviously have been interminable. They did however attend a weekend with the ‘Joint-Chiefs of Staff’ whose title gathered additional dimension because of the arguments of over precedence for nocturnal AH succor.

Meanwhile the University boffins swarmed with desperate PhD researchers looking for the Big Topic with which to make their name. They came from every University faculty including Architecture, Engineering, Theology, Women’s Studies, Hospitality, Nursing, and Mother-Craft Nursing.

A horrible battle was looming as to who should regulate the GrayPower Change Mechanisms; ‘The Lancet’ arguing for ‘Internal Medicine Specialists’ and Psychology Today’ stated that selection criteria should be regulated by a matrix of Psychologists, Sociologist, Anthropologists, Lawyers, and Paleontologists.

At home, disputation between the Colonel and his wife had stalemated and while seeking additional leverage, finagled her way with Mrs. Watkins to achieve such changes that she became known as ‘Collette’s husband’ rather than ‘the Colonel’s wife; but in a strange twist a spontaneous infatuation with Mrs. Watkins prompted them to run away together, never to be seen again.

Unfortunately the leakage of GrayPower technology reached back yard practitioners who offered Breast augmentation to all and sundry. Soon Hollywood had a story, and the Silver Screens revealed ‘joisting affettuoso inter-raveling breasts scenes’ and on the city pavements we saw old and young alike strutting their charms with what Mrs. Watkins had called that certain softness in the chest

The clothing and fashion centre reacted quickly but could not beat the Target Chain who exploited the new fashion possibilities with alternative cuts in men’s suits, lower collar lines, and men’s ties featuring under rather than over a bodice line.

A consortium of airlines purchased GrayPower Inc, built a change theme park in Phoenix Arizona, and strengthened the ‘Brand Appeal’ with a cute tattooed logo that quickly became more prominently displayed than the Nike label and more popular than Starbucks.

When his wife left, the Colonel rejoicing in his independence by quickly changing back to be male and left to forge a new life with Marjorie. Together they explored the heights and the depths of life with detailed military incision.
