Now

Now that my looks have changed and I’m all alone
I think of the empty nights beside the phone.
I remember teenage fantasies and fears,
Hopes and ambitions that faded with the years.
Some say there is no place for one of my kind,
But they travel through life so completely blind.
Born into the night,
Born into the spotlight,
My wings give me height;
As my heart makes its flight.
Flying above them I am totally free.
My eyes at last are open and I can see.
My ears are filled with laughter and with song.
I can catch my dreams at last; it won’t be long
