Babette

by Margaret Jeanette

Holly Hunter sat in her dad's office She had stopped in to visit with him as she seldom saw him. Their conversation turned to an area Holly dreaded. Her dad was a successful contractor who had built his business up being fair and honest with his customers. Jim Hunter was a workaholic who wasn't happy until a job was done.

He said, "Holly, I love you but you are twenty-five years old. When I was twenty-five I was already married three years. You have got to find yourself a husband. I met some of your friends but it is always girls, never guys. It's time to start husband hunting. Surely there are some guys you could start considering as husband material."

Holly answered, "Daddy, I am not ready to get married! I am enjoying myself now. What's the big deal? I thought you wanted me to have fun."

Her dad came back, "I do want you to have fun, but have some fun looking for a husband. I would like to see grandchildren. Boy grandchildren especially."

Holly said, "You know you can't place an order for boy grandchildren. Why boy grandchildren anyway?"

Jim replied, "Your mom and me never had any boys, we just had you. Then your mother got sick and before I knew, she died. I want someone to carry on after I retire."

Holly said, "Dad, I won't promise anything. I told you I am not ready to settle down yet."

Her father said, "Can't you promise me you will at least look at different men with an eye on marriage? I don't think I'm asking too much!"

Holly was upset but said, "OK, to please you, I'll look. It's lunch time, I have to go."

Holly stepped out of the office. She leaned against the door of her dad's office. She was so upset about what her dad had said. If only she could tell him. She looked straight ahead, not seeing anything. Her mind cleared somewhat and she realized she was staring at a man sitting at a desk. She noticed he was rather small but had fine facial features.

She boldly walked up to him and asked, "Would you do me a favor?"

He answered, "Sure, if I can."

She said, "Could you join me for lunch? My treat."

He stammered, "Y-y-yes. I'd love to."

They headed for a diner a half block away. When they were seated in a booth Holly asked, "What is your name and what do you do there?"

He responded, "My names Arthur Reed and I do the bookwork. You know keep track of bills to be paid, bills that are paid and the profit or loss on a job. It isn't exciting but I enjoy it. What is your name and what do you do?"

Holly told him, "My name is Holly and I pretty much do a little of everything. I play tennis, golf and I like to dance."

Arthur asked, "Where do you work?"

Holly said, "Well, my mother died and left me not bad off. I intend on enjoying myself as much as possible. What do you have for hobbies?"

Arthur said, "Oh, I fool around with computers a bit. I have written several programs but haven't been able to sell any."

Holly said, "That's so interesting. I have to go. I have a golf date in a half hour. What is your phone number? Maybe I'll call you sometime."

He wrote his phone number on a piece of paper and gave it to her. She left and he finished his sandwich. As he was walking back to work he couldn't help but wonder about what had just happened. He never had any close friends in school. The boys didn't think much of him because of his small size and the girls seemed like they didn't see him. No one had ever taken an interest in him before. Now this pretty girl seemed interested in him. He had never had the feelings he was feeling now.

When she didn't call by the next day, he shrugged it off as one of those things that happen. However, the next night as he was watching the early news his phone rang. It was Holly. She asked him if he wanted to go see a popular movie that night. He agreed. She said she would pick him up in an hour. She got his address and an hour later was ringing his bell.

On the way to the movie Holly asked if he was from that area. He replied, "Yes, I was born here. I went to North High School and one year at Community College. Then my parents were killed in an auto accident. That's where I got the house. I went to the construction company after that. Are you going to have them build a house for you?"

Holly answered, "I may someday. I don't think I am ready to move into a house just yet. I love my apartment and for what the rent is I am foolish to put out a lot of money for a house."

They arrived at the theater and went in. Holly purchased tickets and when Arthur offered to pay for the tickets Holly would have no part of it. Arthur bought a tub of popcorn and they went to their seats. It was a romance movie and Arthur couldn't understand parts of it. Holly had her arm around Arthur's shoulder. At one point she said to him that these movies always got to her and kissed him deeply. He was in heaven. Nothing like this had ever happened to him before.

After the movie Holly suggested they stop at a local watering hole. Arthur agreed and they stopped. Arthur had only been in a bar once before and wasn't impressed. This time he put a twenty on the bar and Holly ordered a beer and Arthur ordered a Pepsi. When she asked him why he didn't order a beer or something stronger he told her a drunk driver killed his mother and father and that he had promised himself he would never drink. Holly said that was admirable. She told him he must have high standards. He felt elated that she was taking an interest in him. They had two drinks and left.

When they arrived at Arthur's house Arthur invited her in for a cup of decaf coffee. She accepted and they went in. Arthur went into the kitchen and started the coffee. Holly sat at the table in the dining area. She noticed an apron hanging on a door in the kitchen.

Holly said, "Why don't you put the apron on?"

Arthur said, "That was my mother's. I left it there to remind me of her."

Holly asked again, "Why don't you put it on. It is supposed to protect your clothes when you cook or clean."

Arthur went and put it on. It had a full skirt and ruffled shoulder straps. He blushed as he put it on. Holy told him he looked nice in it. The coffee finished and Arthur poured them each a cup. When he opened the cupboard door Holly noticed a gigantic cup on the shelf. She suggested that he use that cup and both of them could drink out of it. He got that cup and poured both cups of coffee in it and filled it the rest of the way from the pot.

Holly suggested they drink it in the living room and headed for the couch. Arthur took the cup in and set it on the coffee table in front of Holly. He was going to take the apron off when Holly told him to leave it on. He left it on. He sat in an easy chair and Holly told him to come and sit by her on the couch.

Holly kissed him and forced her tongue into his mouth. He felt a strange feeling in his groin from that kiss. He didn't understand what was happening but enjoyed the feelings it was giving him. Holly applied fresh lipstick then kissed him again. She looked at his face and was pleased at whet she saw. His lips were coated with the lipstick and he looked adorable. She saw that the lips enhanced his face. She imagined him with longer hair and more make-up. She liked what she saw. They took turns drinking the coffee and soon the cup was empty. Arthur went to refill the cup.

When he returned Holly said, "This is so romantic. Both of us drinking from the same cup." Holly continued kissing him and he just enjoyed it. He realized he was falling in love. When they finished the cup of coffee Holly said it was time for her to leave. She asked him if he wanted to go for dinner the following night. He agreed.

After she left Arthur was euphoric. He had experienced feelings entirely new to him. He remembered his mother and how she would kiss him, but it wasn't the same. He felt carefree and joyous. He said to himself, this must be love!

The next day at work he thought time was standing still. His anticipation of that evening made the day drag on forever. All he could think about was his Holly. He mechanically did his job. At quitting time he hurried home to shave and put on a dress suit. He wasn't home forty-five minutes when Holly arrived. Holly kissed him and they headed for a small supper club.

When they arrived he found out Holly had made reservations. They were quickly seated in a corner booth. Holly kissed him again and said, "I've missed you. I have never felt this way about a guy in my life. You seem to be just what I am looking for."

Arthur said, "Thank you. I can't say but I think I am in love with you. I feel different about you in a special way. I have never felt this way about anyone else."

Holly said, "I know it has only been a short time but it sounds like we should get married."

Arthur said, "I never thought about getting married." He was on cloud nine hearing her say that they should get married. He knew he would get married to her tomorrow if she wanted.

Holly said, "Well what about it? Do you want to get married? To put it formally, will you marry me?"

Arthur immediately answered, "Yes, of course I'll marry you." He knew his mind wasn't working like it ever had before. Here he was with a gorgeous girl and she'd just asked him to marry her. He pinched his leg to make sure he wasn't dreaming. All through dinner Holly was rubbing his leg with her foot. Arthur was experiencing a sexual excitement he had never felt before. He knew he wasn't wise in the ways of the world but when he was with Holly he felt great. He felt things he never knew existed.

As they were eating, Holly said, "Tomorrow I am going to tell my dad. He will be pleased that I am finally getting married."

They finished their meal and left. On the way home Holly pulled into a bridal shop. Arthur went in with her and she looked at some wedding dresses. One dress caught her eye and she held it up in front of her. She asked Arthur what he thought about it.

He said, "You look like an angel. It is beautiful."

The saleslady was right there and Holly engaged in conversation with her. She set up an appointment to try the gown on and see if any adjustments had to be made. They headed for Arthur's house and went in. Arthur said he would make coffee and Holly told him not to forget to put his apron on.

Arthur came into the living room with the gigantic cup of coffee. He said, "I think of this as our loving cup now."

Holly said, "You're so sweet. I love how you treat me." She kissed him passionately and felt his groin. His manhood had grown. He blushed.

Holly said, "You'll get to use that on our wedding night, not before."

Arthur thought he was so lucky to get a girl who had such high moral standards. When they finished the cup of coffee, Holly left. Arthur just sat on the couch and thought about everything that was happening. He never thought he would get married and now it was going to happen. He couldn't believe his luck!

The next day he was at work. At eleven Holly was suddenly in front of his desk. He jumped when she said hello. He wasn't expecting her. She told him she would be right with him. He was surprised when she went into Jim's office without knocking.

Holly said to her dad, "Well, dad, you wanted me to get married. I am going to get married. Now what do you say?"

Her dad said, "This is so quick and unexpected. Who's the guy? Are you sure he is the one you want to marry?" When can I meet him?"

Holly said, "His name is Arthur Reed and yes, he is the one I want to marry. When do you want to meet him?"

Her dad said, "Anytime. You tell me when and where and I'll be there."

Holly said, "I'll be right back." She went out by Arthur and told him he should come with her. They went into the office.

Holly said, "Dad this is who I am going to marry!"

Her dad looked incredulous. "I knew I'd heard the name before. I just didn't think it was him. Holly dear, are you sure."

Holly said, "Dad, I am sure."

Her dad said, "Well, if you are sure then I won't stand in your way. You have always been my little baby and you still are."

Arthur was thunderstruck. He never thought that she was his employer's daughter. The three of them talked for a short time and then Holly said it was time for lunch. Her dad declined an invitation to join them. The two lovers walked the half block to a family diner in silence.

After they had ordered Arthur asked, "Why didn't you tell me he was your dad?"

Holly retorted, "Does it make a difference in how you love me?"

Arthur reassured her, "No, but it would have been better if you had told me."

Holly asked why, and Arthur told her, "Well, I never thought about you being the boss's daughter. I still love you. It was just such a shock!"

Holly kissed him and he felt better. He smiled when she told him what a workaholic her dad was. He agreed but said her dad was a very fair man and that he had a lot of respect for him. Holly was glad he felt that way and told him so.

Then she started telling him about wedding plans they had to settle on. She told him she knew who the maid of honor would be and asked him who he wanted as best man. He said he didn't know anyone to ask to be best man. He was reminded in his mind that he had no real friends except for Holly. She said she knew several guys that could be best man. He told her it would be fine with him if she got someone.

Almost three months later it was the day before the wedding. Arthur was happier than he had ever been in his life. It seemed to him that Holly knew everyone in town. She was always talking to someone. That evening they had a wedding practice. Everything went fine in the practice. They had a supper planned after the practice for the wedding party. After they had eaten Holly excused herself to go to the ladies room. Her maid of honor and one bridesmaid accompanied her.

In the bathroom her maid of honor said, "Holly, I am so happy for you. I always thought you might be a lesbian but I guess I was wrong. Arthur seems to be so nice. Quiet but nice."

Holly said, "I am a lesbian. Arthur will never get to stick his penis in me."

Her maid of honor asked how. Then the other bridesmaid said, "I have the answer right here. Give him one of the three big pills. It will keep his penis deflated for at least a month. Give him one of the small pills every day. They are a strong tranquillizer that will make him more pliable. You have been like a sister to me so there is no charge. Besides, it helps to work in a doctor's office. But you must remember, if you give him the third big pill he will never ever get hard for the rest of his life." They shared a kiss and the maid of honor was shocked at what Holly was going to do to Arthur. But she decided she wasn't going to rock the boat.

When they got back to the table Holly told Arthur she noticed he seemed nervous. He said he was just excited, thinking about the next day. She gave him one of the tranquillizers, telling him it would help him survive tomorrow.

On the wedding day everything went fine at the ceremony. It was a small wedding with only about seventy guests. As they were eating the wedding supper Holly gave him another little pill and one of the big pills, telling him they would help him get through the night. The time flew by and quickly it was time to go to the motel where they had a bridal suite.

Holly had Arthur help her out of her wedding dress. He told her she truly looked like an angel in it. Holly reminded him about the gift opening tomorrow at her father's house. Arthur went into the bathroom and undressed. He was still shy about getting undressed in front of his new wife. He came out in his under shorts and Holly was lying on the bed.

Holly said, "Come here stud! It is time to consummate our marriage."

As hard as he tied he couldn't get it up. Finally Holly sharply said, "It's our wedding night and my pussy is going to get something. Put you r head down there and start licking."

Arthur did as he was told. He wondered what had happened, why it wouldn't come up. He found though that once he started he rather enjoyed it. He brought her to two climaxes in a short time. She told him he had a talented tongue. He was happy when she said that. Then she got up and took hold of his small penis.

Holly said, "This looks like a baby's cock. It is even smaller than that. It's a cockette. You are almost a girl with a tool that small. It's so small it's a baby cockette! With your small tool you don't need those jockey shorts. You don't have anything to put in them. Here take these and put them on."

She handed him a pair of green panties with lace trim. He slowly put them on. He was blushing as he put them on. Then he realized how nice they felt. Holly put on a lacy nightgown and they both got into bed. They kissed for a few minutes then fell asleep hugging each other.

The next morning Holly told him to keep the panties on. He complied, not knowing why. She made coffee in the little pot in the room. She gave him a cup of coffee that she had dissolved a tranquillizer in. He finished dressing in his clothes and they went down for breakfast.

They were seated and Holly said, "Well, what are you going to have, my baby cockette?"

Arthur said, "I wish you wouldn't call me that. Call me anything but not that."

Holly thought for a minute then said, "OK, I'll stop calling you baby cockette. I'll take the first and last part of it and call you Babette. Is that better?"

Arthur responded, "My name is Arthur. Why do you want to call me Babette?"

Holly said, "Which do you prefer- baby cockette or Babette? It's one or the other."

Arthur, defeated, said, "I guess Babette is better. But why can't you call me Arthur?"

Holly said, "I'll call you Arthur when you service me as a man. Until then you are Babette! Is that fair enough?"

Arthur said, "Yes, I guess that's fair enough."

They ate breakfast and went to their room, packed their clothes and checked out of the hotel. They then went to her house for the gift opening. The gift opening went smoothly—Arthur relaxed when Holly didn't call him Babette in front of everyone. After the gift opening was over only two girls remained. The four of them were enjoying a cup of coffee.

Holly said, "Sylvia did you bring your stuff?"

Sylvia said, "Yes, I have everything in the car. Do you want me to do you up now?"

Holly said, "No, I want you to do Babette."

Sylvia asked, "Who's Babette?"

Holly turned to Arthur and told him to tell her who Babette is. Arthur said he was Babette. Sylvia giggled and said this was going to be interesting.

Holly said, "His hair is long enough to give him a feminine style, one that don't take a lot of upkeep. Then the usual, you know, eyebrows, long nails, polish, et cetera. Whatever you think to make him appear feminine."

Sylvia went and got her stuff and soon was busy working on Arthur. Sylvia told Arthur she knew Holly always got what she wanted, one way or another. Arthur was nervous about all that was happening to him. When she was finally done everyone was shocked at how he looked. The most shocked was Arthur; he looked at himself in the full-length mirror and couldn't believe he wasn't looking at a woman.

Holly came and put her arms around Arthur's waist and kissed him. She said, "Thank you, thank you for being so understanding. I love you. Now let's find a dress for you."

Arthur was surprised she would say anything with the other two girls there. Holly came back with a slip and bra and a full-skirted dark blue dress over her shoulder. She told Arthur to undress. He stood there unmoving. Holly asked him what was wrong. He said he didn't want to undress in front of the other girls. Holly said they were all girls there. Arthur surrendered and started to undress.

Holly helped him put the bra on. She told him to wait a minute and disappeared. She quickly returned with a pair of breast forms. When they were glued in place Arthur was surprised at how heavy they were. Soon they had him dressed except for shoes. Holly brought a pair of navy sling back shoes that fit him fairly well. They had a two-inch heel and he soon was used to walking in them. The girls all told him he looked darling.

His mind was telling him this was wrong but another voice in his mind was saying it was all right. He didn't feel like causing an uproar. He knew he shouldn't be wearing a dress but he didn't care.

Holly said it was time to get something to eat. The girls decided to go to a popular pizza place. Arthur went with them not caring how he looked. He was surprised that no one took him for anything but a girl. As they were eating the girls coached him on speaking in a feminine voice. By the end of the meal they were satisfied that he could pass without any problems. He still felt odd but couldn't put a finger on it.

After they ate the two girls went their own way and Arthur and Holly headed home. On the way they saw a shoe store that was open and having a sale. They stopped and got him a pair of white flats and red strappy sandals with a three-inch heel. He wore the white flats and was amazed at how lightweight they were.

When they got home Holly started to pack for the honeymoon. She told Arthur she would pack everything they needed. When she was done Arthur carried the three suitcases and three garment bags out to the car. They wanted to get started early the next morning. They turned in early for bed and Holly kissed him and told him she loved him.

She had given him a full-length nightgown to wear. It was red nylon with a bit of lace. Arthur enjoyed the feel of it on his body but it still bothered him that he wasn't wearing men's pajamas. He didn't dwell on it long before he was asleep. He awoke the next morning early and looked at Holly who was still asleep. He thought how gorgeous she was and how much he loved her.

He got up and went to the bathroom and shaved. His light beard only had to be shaved about every third day. He went back in to the bedroom and tried to put one of his shirts on. It wouldn't button over his attached breasts. He took a red blouse out to wear then thought about it and put a bra on. He was finally dressed in the red blouse and a black straight skirt. He put the red strappy sandals on and went to the kitchen to make coffee. He was sitting drinking a cup of coffee when Holly made her appearance. She kissed him good morning and told him how nice he looked. She grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down next to him.

She said, "You said it is a two day drive to New Orleans. Where do you think we will stay tonight?"

He answered, "I am thinking probably St. Louis. But we'll play it by ear. There are always lots of motels with vacancies so I am not worried. If you see somewhere you want to stop, we'll stop. We have all this week and no definite schedule so we can be free to do as we want when we want. Is there anything in particular you want to see?"

Holly answered, "Just the French Quarter. I have seen it on TV and it always looks like there is a party going on. It looks like a fun place to visit."

She was smiling and Arthur returned her smile. He didn't know why but he felt so good when he was with her. He thought he was a lucky man to get her as a wife. They put their cups in the dishwasher and prepared to leave. They figured on stopping for a full breakfast on the way.

The trip to New Orleans was uneventful. Arthur was surprised at how far they got the first day. He thought to himself that the interstate system is great. You really cover a lot of ground in a short time. They stopped the first night about 150 miles from New Orleans.

That night in the motel room Holly said, "You know you really should do something about your body hair. I packed some hair remover. I would like it if you would use it. Would you please?"

Arthur agreed and Holly explained how to use it. When Arthur was in the shower he was amazed to see all of his body hair go down the drain. When he stepped out it felt cool. Holly patted him with a floral smelling powder. He loved the attention she was lavishing on him. She gave him fresh panties to wear and a bay doll nightwear set. She suddenly remembered she hadn't given him a tranquillizer that day, yet he was still going along with the women's clothes. She decided to wait to see if the pills were necessary. They went to bed and Arthur used his tongue on her pussy. She experienced a shattering climax like she hadn't experienced before. She thought how lucky she was to have Arthur.

Holly said, "Babette, you are the best thing that has happened to me. I love you." She kissed him deeply and soon they were asleep in each other's arms. The next morning Arthur was up again before Holly. As he was looking for what clothes he would wear that day he noticed that Holly had not packed any men's clothes. He thought about it and decided he really didn't care. The skirts felt good on him and he figured no one who knew him would see him anyhow. As he did his make-up he realized no one would recognize him anyway, even if they knew him as a man.

When Holly got up she was surprised to see him all made up and ready to go. He was wearing the blouse she was going to wear but she didn't say anything. She told herself that was the penalty for partnering with someone the same size as she was.

They reached New Orleans and got a hotel room in the French Quarter. They went for a walk and browsed some stores. In one clothing store Holly noticed Arthur looking at a two-piece top set. It was light pink knitted with sequins knitted into it.

Holly asked, "Do you like that?"

Arthur said, "It's different and it feels so light. I don't know, it just caught my eye."

Holly checked the size and took it off the rack. She took it over by the skirts and found a perfect match for it. She bought it and when they were eating lunch she presented it to Arthur. He was all smiles and thanked her for the gift. That afternoon they got Arthur's ears pierced. Holly bought him some earring-necklace-bracelet sets.

The next three days flew by. They had bought some more clothes for Arthur and had found a place that personalized jewelry. Arthur now sported an ankle bracelet that read 'Babette.' Both of them also got a necklace with a large heart that read 'Holly & Babette,' with their wedding day on it.

They headed home. Their return stay in the motel room was interesting only because of one conversation. Holly said, "When we get home I don't think you will want to go back to my father's business. My friend Sylvia has pull at the Community Credit Union. She arranged for you to have a job there. How does that sound?"

Arthur said, "What about your dad? Shouldn't we give him more notice that one day?"

Holly said, "I told him at the wedding you wouldn't be coming back. He wasn't too shook up about it. He said whatever we wanted was fine with him."

Arthur asked, "What will I be doing at the Credit Union?"

Holly answered, "Sylvia said they needed a cashier. It shouldn't be hard for you to learn. You only have to remember you can't take samples home."

They laughed and kissed. Holly thought this is going easier than I thought. She wondered how often he thought about sex as a man. He hadn't really shown any inclination of wanting to mount her. She checked his groin as they kissed a few times and didn't feel any stirrings.

Arthur was sitting in the bathroom and thinking. He thought about everything that was happening. It bothered him that he wasn't the man Holly deserved. He thought about talking to her about it. He was afraid of what he might hear. He loved her and didn't want to hurt her. He knew he could continue as things were going, but he thought that sooner or later Holly was going to want to find a man to satisfy her urges. He thought how she was the first person other than his parents to ever take an interest in him.

That night as he was licking her pussy he wondered what Holly thought about him. He thought about how he couldn't service her pussy as a man would. He wondered how long things would go on like this. When they had finished he swelled with pride when Holly told him he was great and that she loved how attentive he was to her.

When they arrived home Holly had him removed his body hair again. When he was ready for bed she told him to wear the white blouse with the lace in front and the brown broomstick skirt tomorrow for his first day on the job. They went to bed and kissed and snuggled. They were tired and soon asleep.

The next morning he dressed as Holly had suggested. The high collar with the tie in front of the neck on the blouse looked good on him. He wore a triple string of pearls around his neck. The matching earrings had three small strands of pearls dangling from them. He wore the white flats and presented a picture of organization. Holly told him before he left that he looked beautiful. She drove him to work and told him she would pick him up after work.

He slowly approached the door. When he got to the door it was locked. A middle-aged woman opened it a crack and asked if he was Babette. He said he was and she let him in. She led him to her office and told him to have a seat.

She spoke. "I am Mrs. Stolt. I am the manager of this office. I have told Kristie that she would be training you. You will be trained for at least two days. If Kristie thinks you can handle things then you will be on your own. The only problem we have been having lately is that the computer is freezing up and then we have to call IS, that is, Information Services, to come and reset the computer. Kristie is a nice girl and is a good teacher. She has worked here for about three years and knows the cashier job as good as anyone. The other cashier today is Mrs. Goodwin. She is my age and sometimes seems harsh but I think she means well, it's just that she has problems at home and it bothers her. Do you have any questions?"

Arthur said he didn't have any questions and Mrs. Stolt took him out to meet Kristie. After the introductions were made she left the two to get acquainted. Kristie was real friendly and showed him the ins and outs of the job. Soon she was taking care of he first customer. Arthur took note how Kristie handled the transaction. He was surprised that the computer program they used was like the one he was used to. He knew the strengths and weaknesses of it. He knew about the freezing of the program and what to do if it happened.

The next customer wanted to make a withdrawal and in the middle of everything the computer froze up. Kristie told him that she had to call IS. He asked her to wait and let him see if he could fix it. She stepped back and he stepped up. With three keystrokes he was back on-line and completed the transaction.

Kristie said, "How did you do that? When that happens we usually have to wait from one to two hours for IS to get here and put us back on-line."

Arthur showed her how to restore the screen. Kristie said, "Where did you learn that?"

Arthur said, "Where I worked before they had a program just like this one. It was from the same company. The first time it happened we waited two days for one of their service techs to show up. He showed me quite a few little tricks to get things back to where we were without losing everything."

Kristie said, "That is marvelous. By the way, the way you finished that transaction, I think I'll just observe and answer any questions you have or help you if you run into a problem. It's five to ten; from ten to noon is usually a busy time here. We'll take our noon lunch at twelve-thirty to one thirty."

Arthur said that was fine with him. The next two hours went fast, as they were busy. When lunchtime came they went to a small bar and grill in the area. He was really attracted to Kristie. She was so friendly, and he enjoyed her company. Kristie asked him about where he worked before and he told her it was in an office of a construction company. When Kristie complimented him on his skirt, he told her he had gotten it in New Orleans. She told him she had never been to New Orleans but had always wanted to travel. She told him the furthest she had been from home was one hundred miles.

The afternoon went smoothly and at quitting time Arthur was happy to see Holly waiting for him. He waved good-bye to Kristie who was getting into her car. Holly asked about her and he told her that Kristie was his trainer. They stopped at a family restaurant and ate supper. Holly had him tell her all about his day. She noticed that he was more animated talking about the job than she had ever seen him before. After they ate they went home and sat on the couch and cuddled and watched TV.

The next morning he wore his pink outfit. He wore a necklace and earring-bracelet set that had pink stones in them. He did his fingernails in a matching pink covering the red he had had. When he arrived at work Kristie said that he looked terrific. He felt proud when she said that.

The credit union opened and it was a slow start but picked up shortly after ten. Arthur was surprised when suddenly Jim Hunter appeared in front of him. He took care of the transaction nervously but successfully. He noticed that Holly's dad didn't recognize him, or if he did didn't show it.

At lunch Kristie surprised him asking, "How long have you been wearing dresses?"

Arthur said, "What do you mean?"

Kristie said, "Women don't have that prominent an Adam's Apple. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me."

Arthur asked, "Is it that obvious? I never knew about that."

Kristie told him, "It is not real obvious, but I notice things like that. You see I have a brother who underwent a sex change. He was miserable as a boy and when he was nineteen he decided to do something about it. Now he is one happy girl. What's your story?"

Arthur said, "Well, as a man I didn't have any friends or even anyone I was close to. Then I met this girl Holly who took an interest in me. We got married and for some reason I couldn't function as a man. She dressed me in a dress because she said if I couldn't service her as a man I might as well be a girl. I didn't fight it but I think she was using a tranquillizer on me. I am not sure but I know she was the first person who ever took an interest in me. I love her very much and would do anything for her. One of her friends arranged this job for me and I guess the rest is history."

Kristie said, "Well, you are a very convincing girl. I promise I'll keep your secret. I hope your Holly realizes how much you love her! She is a very lucky girl. What was her maiden name?"

Arthur said, "It was Hunter. She is into golf and tennis and things like that. I am not into sports so she enjoys them while I work."

Kristie said, "I went to school with a Holly Hunter. I wonder if she is the same one. She didn't date in school if she is the same one. I would like to meet her if that is OK with you. I'll tell you one thing, I have only known you for two days but if you ever leave her, I'll take you. You are a real nice person."

Arthur said it was OK with him. After work Kristie walked with him to the car where Holly waited. When she saw both of them approaching she got out of the car. Arthur introduced them to each other. The chat was friendly and each woman liked the other. After ten minutes of talking Holly and Arthur got into the car and left.

Holly told Arthur she liked Kristie. Arthur said Kristie was real nice and that he had never worked with anyone like her before. He debated whether to tell Holly about their conversation at lunch. They weren't real hungry so they stopped at a burger place that advertised that they were the burger place where a burger is a meal.

As they were eating Holly asked about his day. He said, "Well, it was interesting. I'll be on my own tomorrow. I am not worried though. I know I can handle it." He told her where Kristie and he had gone for lunch.

Holly asked, "What did you two talk about at lunch?"

Arthur decided to tell her what they had talked about. He didn't tell her about Kristie telling him she would take him if Holly didn't want him.

The next two weeks they settled into a routine. Arthur twice had to help Mrs. Goodwin with her computer freezing up. Mrs. Goodwin always smiled at him after that. He heard her snap at Kristie twice but she never snapped at him.

One evening Holly noticed that he was stirring in his groin. She slipped the second big pill to him in his orange juice the next morning. He continued to show a lot of interest in his work and it became effortless to handle even the most difficult transactions.

At work, he and Kristie were very good friends. One day he asked Kristie if she and her boyfriend wanted to come over for a cook out. Kristie immediately accepted. On the day of the cookout Arthur made sure everything was set up just so.

Kristie and her boyfriend arrived and quickly they were four friends having a good time. When Kristie's boyfriend was away playing croquet, Krystie spoke to Holly.

Kristie said, "I know your situation and Babette's is unusual. I'll tell you one thing, I know Babette adores the ground you walk on. The fly in the ointment is that he is afraid that one day you are going to leave him. I think it bothers him a lot. You could reassure him but I don't know how you can do that. He told me he is useless as a man and doesn't know why. When I suggested he see a doctor he said he was afraid of what the doctor would say. "

Holly said, "I love him. I'll never leave him. I know he is doing everything for me, or should I say out of love for me. I don't know if I deserve him. Every day he amazes me in how he acts and what he does for me. I have seen some big changes in him and I don't know if I were in the same boat if I could handle it. He is stronger than I ever thought. He is a stronger person inside than I will ever be. I know I am spoiled. My mother died when I was young and my dad spoiled me rotten. I love my dad very much but most of the time I only listen to him when he says something I agree with. When I met and took up with my love, I did it to spite my father, because he was always telling me I should get married. I didn't expect things to end up like this. Babette isn't the only one with doubts about the future. I know she is too good for me."

Kristie said, "Don't be so hard on yourself. I believe some matches are meant to be. I have hoped that one day I would meet someone and know right away that this was the person for me. I have had several boyfriends that I thought might make good husbands but something always happened to end that idea. Be thankful you have what you have."

Holly said, "Thank you . You make it all seem so natural and right. I know you know Babette is a man and you still accept him. That means a lot to him and to me. He needs a good friend outside our relationship. I can tell by the way he talks about you that he thinks of you as a really, really good friend. I thank you for that."

The game ended and Arthur started the grill. He grilled the marinated chicken quarters perfectly. As he was making them Holly got out the potato salad and a mixed fruit dish that had been prepared before their guests arrived. They ate while making friendly conversation.

When they were leaving Kristie gave both Holly and Babette a friendly kiss on the cheek. After they left Holly said, "I like Kristie. She is very astute and smart. She thinks the world of you. You are lucky to have a friend like her."

Arthur agreed. He and Holly were sitting on the couch and suddenly Holly was kissing him passionately. He enjoyed the attention. They snuggled for the longest time, then went to bed.

The following Tuesday when Holly picked him up she was unnaturally quiet. Arthur picked up on it right away. As they ate supper she didn't hardly talk and only gave short answers to any of his questions.

When they got home Holly sat down at the dining room table. Arthur knew something was bothering her. He was going to ask but was afraid to. He felt a sense of dread.

Then Holly said, "Babette, come and sit down here by me. I have something important to discuss with you."

Arthur could tell by the tone of her voice that it wasn't something good. He felt a sense that told him it was over between them. He thought that she had found someone different. He was sad before he even sat down.

Holly said, "I have to tell you something I never thought I would be saying. I love you and that is what makes it so difficult."

Arthur asked, "Is there someone else?"

Holly said, "No, there is no one else. I don't know how to put this to you so I'll start at the beginning. When I met you it was after my dad gave me the big 'it's time to get married' speech. When I left his office I saw you and picked you to get even with my father. I thought he wanted me to marry some athletic, all-American boy. I picked you because you weren't that kind of man. I should have told you a long time ago something important about me, but every time I was going to you did something special for me and I didn't want to spoil your happiness."

Arthur now didn't know where this was leading, but felt that Holly was being torn apart by what she had to say. He wanted to help her but didn't know how or what to say.

Holly continued. "My dear, you couldn't function as a man because I slipped you some medicine that prevented you from having an erection. This is the pill that did it." She plopped a pill on the table.

She continued, "At first I gave you tranquillizers so you would accept what I was doing to you. It wasn't long before I saw I didn't need them, that you would do whatever I suggested. Now something else has come into the picture that changes everything. I love you. The pills that stopped your erections stop them for about a month. I gave you one on our wedding night and the second one a month ago. I was going to give you the last one tonight but I can't. If I gave it to you you would never have an erection again. It would be a type of permanent castration. I can't do that to you."

Arthur said, "Why did you do that to me?"

Holly said, "There is no easy way for me to say this. I am a lesbian. I don't think I could take a man sticking his penis in me. Dear, I am so sorry. I figured if I made you into a pseudo-girl that it would answer everything. But I have fallen in love with you and I can't take your manhood away from you for the rest of your life. I am so very, very sorry. Can you forgive me?"

Arthur sat for a moment and considered what he had just heard. Then he said, "I forgive you. I love you. You know that! You have changed my life completely."

Holly was crying and said between sobs, "You are so good to me. I don't know what we are going to do. I feel terrible over what I have done to you. Now, you say you forgive me for something I know is wrong. I have wronged you grievously. I am so sorry."

Arthur stood up and leaned over and kissed Holly. He kissed her hard. Then she watched as he got a glass of water and swallowed the pill.

Holly said, "Do you know what you just did?"

Arthur said yes he knew. Holly asked why.

Arthur said, "Well when I was man, no one paid the least bit of attention to me. I had no friends to talk to. Even in school no one paid any attention to me. It was like I didn't exist. When you paid attention to me I liked it. I felt like I was someone. I felt special. I had never felt like that before. At first I didn't care for the dresses but I soon found out that people do things for women that they wouldn't do for a man. Then you paid so much attention to me that I felt safe with you. I felt that nothing could happen bad to me when I was with you. Then there's the job at he credit union. That is the first time I have had a friend like Kristie. I am doing all right! I know I should be mad at you but you have changed my life so much for the better that I should be thanking you for all that. I love you and only you. I can't think of anyone else I want to spend the rest of my life with."

Holly said, "You are my love, my only love. I don't think I can ever repay you for what you have done for me."

Arthur said, "My next day off I'll go see a lawyer about changing my name legally. I'll talk to Kristie to find out about a sex change operation so I can be a complete woman. Would you like that?"

Holly said, "I don't think anyone could ever do anything more beautiful for me. I just can't believe that you would go through all of that for me."

They kissed deeply and felt more in love with each other than ever before. The next day at lunch Babette had a serious talk with Kristie. Kristie said she would help him in any way possible. Then she lamented that he didn't have any brothers. After lunch he knew everything was going to work out just fine. He was happy with the world.
