Becoming The Little Sister

by Jaygee

Day 1

The woman had met me after my parent's funeral and greeted me with open arms. She was an attractive lady with a thin waist and a smooth pretty face. Her long hair tickled my face as she embraced me. She held me tighter than I expected and rubbed her cheek against mine. She towered over me which was not a large feat since I was only 4'9. I was almost as intimidated as I was intrigiued by the greeting. She smiled and finally spoke.

"Dameon, you look just like your mother." Her voice was soft and soothing. "My name is Annie Rose. I don't know if anyone has told you yet, but your mother had named me to take care of you if... if anything ever happened."

I didn't know what to say so I said nothing.

"Well, if it is okay with you, I would like you to come live with me and my two daughters in Georgia. We would all love to have you as part of our family and we could even help you move in by the end of the week."

I slowly answered, "Ms. Rose..."

"Please Dameon, call me Anne or Annie or even mom if you're comfortable with it. I want you to be as comfortable as possible."

There was surprisingly little to talk about. I had no other family and no one else had shown me sincere kindness like Annie had. In less than a week I had arrived at her home carrying a single suitcase with all of my possessions. The house was small but nice and in a very nice neighborhood. I even saw a pool in the backyard. It finally began to sink in how much of a new life this was going to be. A new home, a new family, and new friends. The only remnants of my old life were in my suitcase.

Annie held open for the door for me and by the time I was in the house I could already hear hurried footsteps and girl's shouting.

"THEY'RE HERE!"

I saw the two girls running from the other room and hugging their mother.

"Christian and Allison, meet Dameon." The two girls stared at me with friendly smiles. I had always been shy expecially around pretty girls. I looked away and blushed.

"Awww, he's cute." said the younger of the two who was named Allison. I was surprised at the comment since she was definiantly younger than I was. It seemed strange that she would refer to me as cute.

Then, Annie spoke. "Well, I'll let you three get aqquainted. I have to get dinner ready for my girls..." she paused for a second with an embarrassed look on her face. "And boy. Sorry Dameon, I'm not used to any males in the house."

"Don't worry about it", I said with a smile.

The girls looked excited. "Let me show you our room", said the older one named Christian. They grabbed my hand and pulled me along as they ran to one of the two bedrooms. "The one on the left is mom's and the one on the right is the kid's bedroom we all sleep in."

"All includes me?" I asked.

"Of course silly", said Allison.

"I'm just curious, how old are you two?"

"I'm 16 and Allison is 12." Christian said.

Both girls were extremely attractive teenagers. Allison was still developing at 12, and was a couple inches taller than me. She also looked rather muscular while still remaining feminine. Although I was too embarrassed to admit it, she was probably stronger than I was. She was a brunette wearing a pink blouse, jeans, and cute ankle socks. Her hair was braided into two pigtails. Christian was the one I really enjoyed staring at though, with her medium sized perfect breasts and subtle curves. She looked strong like her sister and she must have been at least 5'8. She was the perfect weight and had straight blonde hair tied in a ponytail. Her face had obviously been madeover with extreme care and skill, that most girls couldn't even manage on their wedding. In short, they were beautiful girls and I couldn't help but be a little arroused.

"How old are you sweetie? Eleven?" asked Allison. I was embarrassed but I really couldn't blame them. Puberty had come and gone already and had made little difference in my body. I still had a high voice and when I answered the phone the person calling would often accidently call me Ms. I also had a very slim build, little body hair, and worst of all I was really short.

"Fifteen." I answered with a grimace.

"Oh, wow. I'm sorry." she said with an uncomfortable giggle. "I think its just your hair. It does make you look a little younger." I had grown my hair long in hopes that it would make me look older.

"Yeah I've been meaning to get it cut..."

"Please don't", Allison interrupted. "It's beautiful. I wish my hair had those kind of natural highlights." It was summer and my hair had made its usual turn from dirty blonde to golden. To be honest I liked it, even though some guys thought it was girly. "You have to let me braid it sometime." she giggled. This I wasn't sure if I was ready for.

We were in the bedroom now and I was relieved that it was large enough for three people to share. It had two queen sized beds, both with baby blue sheets. The walls were peach colored and had posters of boys. There was a make-up table and mirror covered with cosmetics and stuffed animals. It really felt like there was absolutely no space for a boy. "Um. Where do I sleep?", I asked.

"Well, mom said that we'll share a bed now that you're here and you can sleep in the other one", answered Christian.

Just then Annie walked into the room. "Hi gir... I mean everyone." She looked at me. "Dameon, I'm sorry that we're not more ready for you. The truth is my husband passed away recently, and he was the major earner of the family. All he was able to leave us was this house. I don't really have the money to buy you a new dresser or bed or anything really. I am embarrassed but really with everyone's college fund and now another mouth to feed, there is really no money to spare."

"Its okay." I answered. I wanted to be as least imposing as possible. "Really, don't worry. My old bedroom was way smaller. I'm just curious about one thing."

"What's that sweetie?"

"I don't mean to sound nosy or anything, but it looks like you've got a lot of nice clothes and cosmetics and stuff. Where do you get everything if you have to save every penny?"

Annie smiled. "That's very observant of you Dame. See, I am the manager at a women's department store in town. I'm good friends with the owner and since she knows my situation, she lets me have whatever I want for free. She's really what saved our family from living in rags."

"Well, thats nice of her." I couldn't think of anything else to say.

"Yes, they have everything from sheets, to beds, to clothes, to shoes. In fact after dinner we'll all stop by and pick up some things."

She left the room, and then Christian and Allison began speaking again. "We've all had to get jobs since daddy died", Allison said and her smile faded a little.

Christian then dropped an obvious hint. "If you got one, it would really help out."

"I really would. Where do you two work. Maybe I can get a job there too."

Christian twirled her hair with her finger. "Well I'm not sure I could get you a job at our place."

"Why" I asked.

"Well, you don't look quite old enough" Christian said.

"But I'm older than you Allison."

"Yeah!" Allison chimed in. "But you don't look it. A job more like babysitting would be more appropriate for you."

I was a bit taken aback by this but I kept my feelings to myself.

Annie's voice came from down the hall. "Ladies, come in the kitchen." I couldn't tell if she meant me too but then Allison grabbed my hand and pulled me along. Annie had already set the table and was sitting down. All that was on the table was a salad and vegtable soup.

"Are we having anything else?" I asked.

"No dear. Opps. I forgot to tell you, we're all vegetarians. If you'd like I can fix you someth..."

"Don't worry about it. I'm a vegetarian too", I lied.

"Dinner looks great", said Christian. "Thanks mom."

"Thanks mommy" Allison said with a baby voice.

"Thanks mom", I said for the first time half joking. The girls didn't seem to notice but Annie gave me a loving smile. I kind of liked that smile.

After dinner, we went to Annie's work, which turned out to be an extremely girly store. Nearly all the furniture was pink or had a floral design and there was absolutely no male clothes or items anywhere. "Alright girls. Get what you need but don't go overboard, just get what you want and meet me in the front in an hour or so."

I decided to ignore that she just refered to me as a girl again.

"Do I really need to get clothes here, mom?" I asked (I was hoping for another of her pretty smiles). "I don't really see anything that will suit me."

"I'm sorry Dame but this is really all we can afford. Unless you can live on whats in your suitcase you're going to have to get some new clothes." This frustrated me. I really had next to nothing in my suitcase. Almost all of my possessions were destroyed in the fire that had killed my parents. All I had were some photo albums that I managed to save and the clothes on my back.

I began to search the store for anything that resembled masculinity. I followed "my new sisters" over to the juniors department where they started picking out clothes for themselves. Nearly everything was in pink, yellow, or shades of light blue. I found some pants that looked almost unisex, but when I tried them on Annie laughed. "Sweetie, those are much too big for you. I don't think you're quite ready for the Junior department." Then she turned to Christian. "Christian will you show our little Dane where the children's department is. Make sure we get everything Damie needs. Shampoo, pajamas, swimsuits, shoes, underwear, pants, and shirts. Don't forget anything"

Christian led me to the children's department which had even more feminine clothes than the junior section. I began to try things on. It was really getting hard to find things that held onto my masculinity now. Some things weren't that bad. I managed to find pants that were pretty subtle, yet they still gave my hips a feminine shape and many had flowers stiched in. I found more blouses that were okay except for the fact that they showed a bit too much of my stomach and the sleeves were really short.

I found a pair of plain white shoes with pink laces that looked alright I thought. The socks were at least not much different than what I was used to.

The pajamas were made of a soft light blue material that had a pattern consisting of letters spelling "princess." The best underwear I could find were cotton panties with a little lace on the waist band. Each pair had a cartoon theme such as Barbie or Snow White. I found the lack of the "Y" front discomforting.

The worst came when it was time to look for a swimsuit. I couldn't find anything that wasn't instantly identifiable as a female garment. I begged Annie to let me forget about the swimsuit, but she insisted that it was nesseccary. She said that it was a sin not to use the pool they had in the backyard.

As I searched for a swimsuit, I began to realize how ridiculously girly all the items were in my cart. I couldn't imagine buying them, much less wearing any of them. I went back to Annie and told her that I would refuse to buy a swimsuit. She started getting irritated, and finally called Allison from the cosmetics counter.

"Allison. Dame is too insecure too pick out a bathing suit. Can you do it for him." She looked at me. "Pick out a pink one." I looked at her in horror. "I'm sorry Dame, but we don't have all the money in the world and this is not going to be the first time you have to shop here for clothes. You need to get over your ego and accept that for the good of this family, we all have to make sacrifices. For the first time, I felt anger towards Annie, but I realized that if she was going to be the mother figure in my life, it would definiantly not be the last time I resented her.

"Do you want to watch a movie tonight?" Christian asked me.

I turned to her. "Sure! They sell movies here?"

"Some of the best."

I loved movies and was excited to see the selection. I shouldn't have been surprised to see the types of movies they sold but I was just the same. It was nearly all romantic comedies and a few other girly genres. Only movies with female protagonists. We finally settled on "Mean Girls" with Lindsay Lohan because I had heard that was good even among some guys I used to know. We all brought are things to the register, where Annie showed the cashier a card and she let us go without paying. We loaded the stuff into the car and drove home.

When we got home Annie made me try on my new clothes immediatly. They all fit well and comfortably and Annie threw my old clothes in the wash. I was ashamed and uncomfortable to be wearing panties, jeans with flowers, and a red blouse with minnie mouse on it, but mom insisted I looked fine. It was already 8:30 so we started watching the movie. While the movie was playing Allison asked me if she could play with my long hair. "Its so soft." I was actually really starting to get into the plot and I told her she could without thinking. I really was identifying with Lindsay Lohan's character. It reminded me of all the troubles I had with friends back home.

I didn't even notice what Allison was doing with my hair. To be honest, her gentle hands felt nice. Like a massage or something. I only finally turned around to look at her when she stopped. She smiled and said "Done."

I realized to my horror that she had french braided my hair into two pigtails just like hers. I tried to untie them but the braids were done well and tight.

"They're just like mine!" smiled Allison

Annie laughed. "Now you two look like real sisters." I stood up and stormed out of the TV room into the bedroom.

I sat on the bed and looked at the full length mirror on the wall. It reaffirmed my fears. I saw my already effeminate body in girls clothes and braided hair. I looked like a young girl The door creaked open and Christian walked in.

"Go Away!" I shouted.

"Please don't be like that." she said.

"I can't believe you all. You can't seriously expect me to go out dressed like this."

"I know. I can't believe it either." I was startled. "Mom was really mean about the swimsuit earlier. She didn't need to do that." My eyes moved to the shopping bags on the floor where I could see the pink bathing suit sticking out a bit. My eyes filled up with tears. I couldn't believe it. I hadn't even cried at my parents funeral. I didn't believe in it. Hadn't done it for years. But now I was on the verge of bursting into tears over a swimsuit. Christian saw the tears in my eyes and hugged me. "Its okay. Let it out. Cry and you'll feel better." Before I knew it I was. I hugged Christian tight and sobbed on her shoulder and she comforted me by whispering soothing words in my ear. The more she made me feel better the more I cried. I finally fell asleep in her arms.
