Part 4

Aunt Ruth said, "How about you come and live with me? Then you could go to school and live as a girl in a new area where no one would know you."

Bobbie thought about it, then he asked, "Can I think about it?"

Catriona said, "That is a great idea. Aunt Ruth, can I come as well?"

Aunt Ruth said, "Well, all this depends on your mother and what she thinks about the idea."

Their mother said, "Let me think about all this, now lets enjoy our meal here."

Just as their mother was talking the waiter arrived with their meals.

Aunt Ruth said, "Take smaller bites, Bobbie."

"I thought I was taking smaller bites?"

Aunt Ruth smiled, "For a boy maybe but not for a girl."

They continued their meal over the next couple of hours. As they were leaving Aunt Ruth asked, "What clothes do you have, Bobbie?"

Bobbie looked down and said, "Mostly I have just used Catriona’s clothes when I have needed them."

Aunt Ruth just shook her head saying to herself, "This will not do. A girl needs her own wardrobe.", she smiled, "Okay Bobbie, you are coming with me this afternoon."

Bobbie said, "Where are we going?"

"Shopping.", replied Aunt Ruth, "For clothes. There is nothing I love more than to go shopping."

Catriona said, "Can I come as well?"

Aunt Ruth laughed and replied, "Of course. The more the merrier." Then she said to their mother, "Would you like to come as well?"

"Of course. I would love to come.", she laughed, "I hope that you have plenty of money on you."

"Well, I just got this new platinum visa card through.", she said flashing the card, "And I have been wanting to try it out."

Their mother said, "Okay, what are we waiting for then? The shops are waiting for us."

"Alright lets go to Glasgow then."

"Okay, we could do that but I need to go back to the house and do a couple of things."

"Okay, what are we waiting for then? Waiter!", Aunt Ruth called, "Can I have the bill please?"

The waiter said, "Certainly. I’ll just go and get it for you."

Whilst they were waiting for the waiter to return they discussed what they should get Bobbie. Catriona said, "Well, she needs some new underwear of her own and dresses, skirts, tops. Oh heck.", she laughed, "She needs a complete wardrobe."

At this point the waiter returned with the bill. Aunt Ruth went and paid the bill at the desk by the door. They all went outside and waited whilst Aunt Ruth went and got her car. It only took a minute for her to collect her car. During the ride home Catriona kept saying about what a great idea it would be for Bobbie to live with Aunt Ruth as a girl. Bobbie didn’t know what to say. On the one hand this was a dream come true for her but on the other hand she didn’t know if she wanted to be a girl all the time. It would be fun if she could be a girl when she wanted and then go back to a boy when he wanted. Bobbie was very quiet all the way back to the house, thinking it over in his mind.

Bobbie’s mother asked, "Are you alright, Bobbie?"

"Yes Mom. I am just doing some thinking."

As soon as she had said that Catriona asked, "What are you thinking about?"

Bobbie told her what she was thinking about, "Oh just that it would be nice if I could be a girl one day and a boy the next if I wanted to."

Aunt Ruth, hearing the conversation, said, "It would be nice but it would never work. You have to be one or the other but not both. As eventually some one would figure out who you are and then you would have problems."

They arrived back at the house and their mother went in while they all waited in the car. She was only in the house for two minutes when she came back out. They could see that she had changed her coat and put a light jacket on instead.

"Okay, lets go.", their mother said.

Aunt Ruth started the car and they drove to Glasgow. The trip took about three quarters of an hour.

When they arrived Bobbie asked, "Where are we going to?"

Aunt Ruth said, "I will park the car in the multi-storey just behind little-woods. Just of Sauchihall street (this is in the center of Glasgow), because then we can get out onto the pedestrian precinct and all the shops are there."

Once they had parked the car and they all got out Aunt Ruth said, "I only have one rule today, ladies."

They all looked at Aunt Ruth wondering what her rule was.

Aunt Ruth looked at their mother and said, "This rule applies to you too. My rule is that no one is to argue with me about paying for things today. It is on me!"

Catriona , Bobbie and their mother just looked at Aunt Ruth in amazement and then as one they all said, "Okay."

Aunt Ruth smiled and said, "Great. Lets go."

The first store they hit was "Marks and Spencers". They all went straight to the ladies section to look for underwear for Bobbie. They started to pick up panties in all colors for Bobbie. Aunt Ruth picked up some thong style panties but their mother said no to them.

Aunt Ruth asked, "Why?"

Bobbie’s mother said in a whisper to Aunt Ruth, "Think about it. She, emmm, needs some support down there."

Aunt Ruth giggled, "Of course. I had forgotten. She looks so convincing."

After they had exhausted the lingerie area of "Marks and Spencers" they moved on to the dress section and they had Bobbie modeling dresses for about an hour before Aunt Ruth decided that she had enough dresses and skirts to work with.

Aunt Ruth said, "Okay, that’s enough here but you do need some blouses and tops. Lets go onto "littewoods" and see what they have there."

As they were leaving "Marks and Spencers" Bobbie saw a designer dress that had just been put up on display. She stopped to look at it.

Aunt Ruth saw her looking at it and asked, "Do you like it?"

All Bobbie could do was say, "mmmmmm, I love it."

Aunt Ruth said, "Okay, lets see if it’s in your size."

The dress was floor length, with a high collar. It looked like it had come from the Victorian era.

Bobbies mother said to Aunt Ruth, "Just look at her face. She loves that dress. I just hope that they have it in her size."

Aunt Ruth said, "Don’t worry. She is only going to try this one on.", then she smiled, "I want to see how it looks on her and if she can carry it. I’ll have one like it made for her and Catriona as well."

Their mother looked at Aunt Ruth and gasped, "Ruth! That will cost you a fortune!"

Aunt Ruth just smiled and said, "I have the money to spend.", she giggled, "You better start thinking about a corset for the Christmas dance this year. You will need it to get into the outfit that I have in mind for you. And NO, before you ask. I am not going to tell you what it is. You will just have to wait and see."

Aunt Ruth called an assistant over to ask her if she had Bobbies size in the dress that was on display. The assistant replied that she would go and have a look and see if there was one in her size. The assistant came back a few moments later with some dresses across her arms. Bobbie’s face lit up when she saw her come back. Then she rushed forward and just about snatched the dresses from the assistant who just smiled and pointed her to the changing room. Aunt Ruth was going to call Bobbie back and have her apologies for her behavior. The assistant smiled and said that it is okay and that it was worth to see the look on her face.

Bobbie put her head out of the changing room to ask Catriona, "Can you help me, sis?"

Catriona rushed over and asked, "What help do you need?"

Bobbie said, "It’s the buttons up my back. I can’t do them myself. Also the other dress there is your size. So I thought that we could both model them together."

Catriona laughed and quickly fastened all the buttons on Bobbies dress. Then she stepped out of her skirt and blouse and Bobbie helped her into the dress and fastened the buttons for her.

"You know.", said Catriona, "We need some heels for these dresses."

"I know. Lets call the assistant over.", said Bobbie.

She called the assistant over and asked if she knew if the shop had any suitable shoes to go with the dresses. The assistant said give me five minutes. She was back in two minutes with a man and the shoes. She gave the shoes to the girls. The man just stood there and watched. Meanwhile, Aunt Ruth was chatting with their mother and wondering what was keeping the girls. They had noticed the man come back and moved over to ask him what he wanted as he was watching the changing room, that the girls were in, a bit too intently for the women to be pleased. Just then the girls came out and walked up to Aunt Ruth and their mother and asked them what they thought of the dresses. Aunt Ruth and their mother were amazed at how the two girls carried of the dresses. They asked them to turn around, so that they could have a better look at how the dresses looked. As they were looking the children over the man that had been watching came over and introduced himself as the designer of the dresses……….
