The College Experiment

by Little Katie

Day two, the A.M

"Wake up sleepy head," Colleen said as she shook her roommate gently on the shoulder.

Patricia slowly fluttered her eyes and looked around the room as the morning sun greeted her. She then looked down at herself to see what she was wearing. "So it wasn't a dream," she stated quietly.

"Nope," Colleen smiled, "wouldn't it of sucked if it was, you'd miss out on a lot of fun."

"So, you are still sure about all this?"

"You bet, I think this is the best thing for you. Think of it this way, for one weekend you can see if all your assumptions are correct."

"And if they aren't?" Patricia asked worriedly.

"Then we tell everyone you lost a bet and wound up having great sex for doing it, I'll even back up your story."

"Okay, where do we start?" Patricia asked both worried and eager.

"Well first, tell me how did you sleep?"

"To be honest, I think it was the best night's sleep I had in years, this nighty was really comfortable.

Colleen smiled and gave her friend a hug. She had suspected Patrick was really living a lie for quite some time. He was more like her girl friends then any guy she had ever known. Finding those transgendered websites just confirmed her opinion and now she wanted to help her friend find his or her identity. She gently nudged Patricia into the shower and began to layout the clothes for their shopping trip. It was going to be a full day; it couldn't be wasted on decisions about outfits for the day. Those choices would be made at the mall for the night and she didn't want to overwhelm someone new to the process.

"All clean," Patricia announced as she walked back into her bedroom, wearing only a towel wrapped around her midsection, just under the armpits.

"Great, I already have your clothes laid out, and this is the last time I'll play mommy for you. Did you take care of, you know?" Colleen nodded toward her crotch.

"Yep, it' all taped up and hidden away, the wretched little beast that it is."

"Wow, you're catching on faster then I thought. Let's get you ready. Here put this on." Colleen tossed her a bra.

"You know, I don't have anything there."

"I know, it's a water bra. It's usually for us girls that are disproportionate, but it's all great for tissue stuffers like yourself."

"Tissue stuffer?"

"Oh, I'm just teasing, just put it on."

Patricia slipped on the bra and Colleen helped fasten it in the back. She adjusted the shoulder strap so it would fit just perfectly. "Oh, I didn't know they adjusted?"

"What did you think, one size fits all?"

"No, just thought that they were how they came and girls just got use to how they fit, like a universal standard."

"You my friend, have a lot to learn. Now put these on," Colleen said while tossing over a pair of bikini brief panties. Patricia slid them on; this time making sure the tag was to her left before wearing them. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled.

"Almost convincing, I didn't know I had such a figure." Patricia commented.

"Well, it is partially artificial."

"Well I like it, it's not to extreme."

"Nope, just picked the things to go with your look. We want you to experience life as a girl, that wouldn't happen if we made it glaringly obvious that you are a boy dressed up."

"So that's why the bra is only an A cup."

"You ever see a short thin girl with double-d's, God she would tip over. Now hurry up, put on the jumper."

Patricia put on the blue denim overall dress, the skirt came just above her knee. She spent some time buttoning up all the buttons in the front. When she was done, she twirled in front of the mirror, and smiled at the result. Even her hair didn't give her away, even though it could use a little work. Patricia put on a pair of black open toed sandals and figured she was ready to go.

"Not to bad huh? Let's do some shopping." Patricia announced.

"Not quite yet," Colleen interrupted, "One of the things you need to learn about being a girl is accessorize, accessorize, accessorize." Colleen placed a thin gold chain with heart pendent around her friend's neck, a small gold watch on her wrist, and a gold ankle bracelet on her right ankle. "Now, now you look ready to go, just one more thing." Colleen handed her friend a small black purse and the look was completely finished. Patricia looked at herself in the mirror and was amazed at how all the subtle details added to the masquerade.

"Now we shop." Patricia smiled as she stole one last look in the mirror.

"Gosh, you're more of a girl then I imagined." Colleen laughed as the two walked out to her car. Patricia was a bit worried that someone might see them walking out of the apartment, but when no one did she was a bit more relaxed.

On the way to the mall the two stopped at a drive thru for some much need, energy giving, egg mcmuffins.

"Why didn't we put on makeup?" Patricia asked feeling like they forgot to do something important.

"We are going to the mall, there are samples galore. That and you can't just pick out makeup without seeing how it works with your complexion. There is a lot that goes into picking out the right cosmetics. And besides, we are natural beauties."

"Well maybe you are, I just hope I don't get laughed at."

"Trust me, okay, I won't let anything bad happen to you. Besides, I barely can tell you ever been a guy, and I've known you since we were two."

Colleen drove the rest of the way to the mall, luckily on a Friday it wasn't as crowded as on the weekend and she was able to find a spot real quick. Colleen got out of the car as usual, but Patricia needed a few moments. Sure it was fine to dress up in front of a friend willing to play along, but now this was a very public place and she felt very self conscious. Patricia closed her eyes for a moment while Colleen patiently waited for her friend.

"I can do this," Patricia said to herself, "after all, this is kind of what I wanted all my life, isn't it?" Patricia remembered how when she grew up, she would watch the girls take dance lessons and wish that were her. How during birthday parties while she was in a stupid suit, she was wishing to be all decked out like the girls. How, that even though she wasn't truly a full girl, this may be her one moment in life to experience a sliver of what being female was like. Patricia took a deep breath and got out of the car.

"You all set?" Colleen asked in an encouraging way.

"Yeah," Patricia smiled, "What's the battle plan?"

"We aren't playing war," Colleen joked, "there aren't any maps or strategic locations. There are just two rules, if we like it we buy it, and if we don't like it, we have fun looking."

"Okay, so where to first though?" Patricia asked as the entered the mall.

"First thing we need to do is get you to a beauty salon."

"That bad, huh?"

"No, not really, you just need a little touch up work really." Colleen said as she led her friend to the magic scissors.

"Magic scissors hair salon, huh." Patricia commented.

"Yeah, sounds like something out of your websites."

They both laughed as they entered the salon. Patricia was pleased that Colleen had set up an appointment in advanced. No waiting after all meant more time shopping.

"Hello darling," an extravagantly gay sounding guy addressed the women. "My name is Marcello; I'll be creating the masterpiece known as you."

"Hi Marcello, I'm Patricia." She said still in shock over the flamboyancy of the stylist.

"Why hello Patricia, lets see what I can do for you." He said as he frumped up her hair a little bit. "Seems someone has been going to cost cutters to save some money. Don't worry though, I can fix their chop job girl, just leave it to me."

"I'm just looking for something simple, not too out there." Patricia informed.

"Oh Child, I will make you Beau-ti-ful, trust me. You don't seem like the perm type, but maybe some highlights to go with those awesome eyes. Yes, yes, that's what I see, highlights and add a little curl to the back and I see bangs. Definitely bring back your bangs, and give you that all American girl look you probably had all your life."

Patricia blushed almost uncontrollably; she never received so many compliments in such a quick span of time. She sat down in the chair and felt completely at ease with what she was doing as Marcello washed her hair. She wasn't use to someone else's hands running through her scalp, but she enjoyed it. Afterwards Marcello took out the blow-dryer and began to comb the hair into the shape he envisioned. The front part that would form the bangs were dreadfully uneven as it came over Patricia's eyes. Marcello cut it to a straight line and then took a round brush to it. He blow dried the hair while causing it to curl slightly towards Patricia's forehead. He combed everything else back, then made a part in the center of her head and combed it again to the back and side. The hair over the ears tickled Patricia a little; she tried not to giggle as Marcello trimmed the split ends.

After all the cutting and combing, Marcello applied a white cream to the tips of Patricia's hair and then wrapped them in aluminum foil. In the back a few small rollers were added to the mix, to bring some curl and bounce. Marcello made small talk while doing it, asking about school and boyfriends and how she liked this area of the country. In no time, she was done and placed under a big hair dryer. For fifteen minutes she read YM and watched Colleen make funny faces at her. When the timer went off, so did all the aluminum foil. After that another rinse and brush out. After an hour and a half, it was finally finished. Patricia looked in the mirror and instead of seeing a frumpy brown haired guy, like she usually saw after a haircut, this time she saw a masterpiece.

"You look darling, simply darling." Marcello said as he took Colleen's credit card.

"This is my gift to you today okay," Colleen said.

"Thank you," Patricia told Colleen and then turning to Marcello she said, "And thank you too, you did a great job."

"I had great material to work with, but here take my card. You must promise never to use cost cutters ever again."

"Deal," Patricia said as she put his business card in her purse.

Colleen and Patricia left the salon and headed to a dress boutique. It was a very small store, but a lot of college girls seemed to spend a lot of their money in it. Trendi Fashions just seemed to have everything that people were looking for without gauging people's wallets. Patricia found two dresses that she liked, one a long black sleeveless dressy number that would be perfect for the party that night. The length was short, but not scandalously so. She tried it on and it fit perfectly too. The other outfit was a denim skirt that poofed out a bit, and a white blouse that was designed to be tied off just above the belly. For a guy she didn't have a belly to be proud of, but as a girl the nice flat stomach was practically adorable. Patricia also picked out two pairs of shoes, one pair black pumps and a pair of white canvas sneakers. She paid for the items in cash, not wanting these items to be seen on her parent's credit card statement.

The pair window shopped as the walked through the mall, but the next place they actually stopped in was a department store. They made a bee-line to the cosmetics case and the lady behind the counter was very helpful with color choices. Patricia purchased a deep pink lipstick and nail polish to match. She also bought foundation and a personalized assortment of blushes. The cosmetic's lady also convinced Patricia to buy a small bottle of Tommy Girl perfume, the selling point being that it came with a free red white and blue scrunchy.

"Did you have fun?" Colleen asked.

"You bet, I just wish you got something for yourself."

"I did get something."

"You did? But I've been with you the whole time."

"Silly, I got a new and improved best girlfriend, and seeing you so happy makes me all the more happier. Honestly I've never seen you this happy before in your life, and to be honest you deserve it."

"Oh, thank you." Patricia said as a tear weld up in her eye.

"No time for crying now, look at the time, we got to get back home and start getting ready, the party is in two hours."
