The Dancer II               by: Samantha Kimberly Thorne

Part II

Dave’s mind was awhirl with all these new feelings, and he felt a little like crying. Julie asked him what was wrong.

"I really can’t believe that’s me in the mirror", blubbered Kelly, "I look so different."

"You look really good, though, girl", Julie said, with a smile trying to cheer her friend up. "Have you really never done any dressing up before, because you really look like a teenage girl, and a beautiful one, too." "Well, I tried my mom’s make-up, and a hat & gloves when I was 8 or I think, but she caught me and gave me a hiding, and I think that’s been stuck in my brain since. I really loved looking at you in your dresses & heels over the last few years, developing into a beautiful woman, and deep down, I guess wanting to be a girl too."

"Well, you’ve got your wish now, but you can’t walk around the streets wearing my dancing dresses, it would look a bit too slutty." "Slutty!! AROUND THE STREETS!!! What are you trying to pull? I can’t go ‘round the streets dressed like this, everyone would know, and I’d get a worse going over than I usually do", said Dave. "Yes, I’ve been meaning to ask you about that. Who exactly is doing this to you, and what do they do?" enquired Julie. "I have to know, because the three of us could get revenge". "Three? But there’s only two of us. Who’s the third person, oh my God, do they know about me". "It is you, you idiot, I mean me, you & KELLY, the Prom is coming up. How about all these guys who harrassed you practically beating one another up to take the new girl to the Prom.

Oh yes, I can see it now, Kelly the Prom Queen, in all her glory, wearing the tiara, and the sash, and being asked out by all the jocks." "Have you lost all sense of reality, Julie, I’m a boy dressed as a girl, and the thought of going out with one of those guys. UGH! I think I’d rather be beaten up."

"But you’re a beautiful young girl, Kelly. Look, come over tomorrow, I’ll dress you and we’ll go shopping at the mall, for some clothes of your own, and a Prom dress."

"I can’t believe I’m letting you talk me into this, but I feel really great in this outfit. Can you put the music on again, please?" Julie turned on the Salsa music Kelly had been dancing to, and within minutes, she was dancing up a storm. Julie’s mother heard the noise, and came in to see what was going on.

Kelly never saw her, and kept on dancing until she reached the finale, and turned with a flourish, curtsied, and then suddenly realised there were two people applauding her.

"Wonderful" said Julie’s mother. "Who is this beautiful & talented young lady, Julie, please introduce us."

"Mom, this is Kelly, Dave’s cousin, she’s a dancer as well. She and Dave have done a swap, she’s here, and Dave’s gone to her place, to her family, so you’ll be seeing a lot of her around."

"Very good, nice to meet you Kelly, there is a family resemblance, are you and Dave very close?"

"Nice to meet you too," said Kelly in her best female voice, "Yes, we used to do everything together, but now they’ve decided to give us a bit of time apart, to ‘help us with our identities’ or something." "That’s a good idea, I’ll see you later girls, I’m going out." "O.K. Mom, we might go to the Mall, but Kelly has to change into her street clothes first."

"What, now? I thought you said tomorrow." "No time like the present, and my mom’s know you since you were a baby, and she didn’t recognise you, did she?"

"No, all right what am I wearing? What about your leather outfit, I love that."

"I suppose you want the high heel boots with that too, bitch?"

"It’s part of the outfit, isn’t it?"

"Go on, put it on, let’s see how it looks."

About 10 minutes later, Kelly steeped from behind the screens with a big smile on her newly red lips, and drew gasps of shock from Julie. "You look better than me in that, it really clings to your body, like it was made for you."

"Maybe it was, let’s go girl. I think I might enjoy this now."

"What have I done" said Julie, "I think I’ve created a monster."

"Look out world, here comes Kelly," she said as she exited the apartment.
