Girls of the Summer

Chapter 5

"Here is your coffee, and your donuts," Erin gave a man a cup of coffee on a saucer and a donut. Work had been fairly easy she'd been doing it for nearly five days now. Though as soon as she got the job, the manager started making them where the same type T-shirt everyday, now Erin was in a short white tennis skirt, and a black T-shirt which on the back had the saying…Linux is for Developing…Mac is for Business…and Windows is for Solitaire.

Erin received the money from the man and a dollar tip then walked to another table where she got there order. They had been extremely busy that day, and Erin was pretty tired, but also she was nervous cause she was about to go on her first real date and Rave told her to dress casually formal whatever that meant, she was going to just pick something out of her closet, but when Stephanie found out she told Erin that she would have to shop for something new.

After her shift, Erin changed her shirt and threw her black one in a basket, she then picked up her purse and walked out the café where Stephanie was waiting for her.

"Oh I can't wait till I see you and Rave on your first real date," said Stephanie. "It's going to be so great. Maybe we can double date sometime. I bet Ben would really love to. He's already taking me on a real date so it doesn't matter."

"Okay," said Erin. "You're drawing attention to yourself."

They walked into a store where they split up. Erin just rubbed against the clothes as she walked passed them, then found some metal and shocked herself when she touched it.

"Erin, are you looking," Stephanie called.

Erin looked up at her then looked down a short black dress. She lifted it off the rack and showed it to Stephanie.

"No Erin," Stephanie looked disappointed. "You're going on a date not to a funeral. I think a skirt would be much more appealing."

"Appealing to whom," asked Erin.

"To Rave," Stephanie walked over to Erin with a yellow sundress with printed flowers. "Try it on."

Erin tried it on, but Stephanie said it wasn't her, but unfortunately for Erin she had another outfit, a blue skirt and a white top. She tried this on to but Stephanie still disagreed. Erin continued to try on outfit after outfit until…

"I got it," Stephanie nearly shouted.

Erin watched Stephanie take out a shiny pink skirt and tube top. Erin tried this on also.

"I love it," Stephanie squeaked as she saw Erin. "It looks perfect on you."

"Isn't it kind of revealing," asked Erin trying to get Stephanie to notice that the skirt went halfway down his thigh and was so tight that he had to take small steps. The tub-top didn't help much either. It was also tight.

"I know," said Stephanie.

"Wouldn't people think I'm some sort of slut?"

Stephanie was taken back by this statement. "No they won't."

Erin sighed and they bought the outfit.

"I am so happy you're going on a date," Stephanie was still giddy about Erin's first actual date. So what are you going to do?"

"Rave is taking me to that French Restaurant Jean, and after we are going to catch a movie together."

"Oh my," Stephanie looked at Erin. "That is going to be a lovely date.

"It's no big deal," Erin blushed.

"Yes it is," Stephanie giggled. "Why don't we get your hair fixed up at a Salon, preferably a real one."

"Why, I like my hair, plus it matches my outfit."

"I know, but we're still going to have to make it a little flashier. Come here." Stephanie led Erin into a Salon and asked the lady behind the counter if there were anymore openings left. Fortunately for Erin there weren't.

"Don't worry," said Stephanie as they walked out. "I'll fix it up."

Erin gulped.

"Oh my gosh," Stephanie yelled again. She was looking in a shoe store window.

"What," Erin asked looking in the window at the types of shoes.

Stephanie pointed to a pair of shiny pink heels.

Erin looked at them, she had never worn any heels that high, let alone that sexy. Nor had she seen any like them, it had straps everywhere she didn't think that she would even be able to get them on.

"Come on, we still have enough money for them," Stephanie literally yanked Erin's arm off as she led her into the store.

Erin tried the shoes on and walked around in them feeling a little bit stupid.

After buying the shoes and going home, Erin started to get ready. She took her bath wrapped herself in a tile and walked out.

"Erin," Bryan came out of his room. "Oh sorry."

"No it's okay," Erin replied.

"I was just saying that your mom is working late, again, and I will be driving you on your date."

"Kool," said Erin. She walked into her room and slipped into her skirt and tube top not wanting to put on the heals yet he walked over to his sister's room and knocked on the door.

"Oh she went out," Bryan was coming from upstairs.

"Did she say when she was going to be back," asked Erin?"

"No, but three of her friends came over and told her she had to come with them. Is there something important that you need to do?"

"She was supposed to do my hair."

"No problem," Bryan smiled. "I can do it."

Erin looked stunned and confused.

"Come." Bryan grabbed Erin hand, fingers laced, and led her back into her room. "So what do you want," he asked? "By the way I like your outfit, it looks cute on you."

"Thank you," Erin smiled embarrassingly. "I don't know what I want, kind of funky but not to showy.

"Okay," Bryan went to work brushing Erin's hair. He worked with it for only about Seven minutes before he finished. He had pulled it all back except for two the two long strands and put it in a pony tail, he then separated the ponytail into 4 pieces and stuck them at odd angles. He wrapped the ponytail with a pink ribbon and placed pink butterfly clips in her hair.

"Hold on I'm not finish." He picked up some glittery pink eye shadow and applied it to Erin. Erin applied his on shiny clear pink lip gloss as Bryan hooked a pink necklace around her neck. To match Erin placed two pink butterfly earrings in her ears. Bryan also did her nails a light pink.

"Thank you," Erin said as her nails dried. "I couldn't have done it without you."

"No problem."

"How did you learn how to do make-up?"

"My mother's a cosmetologist," Bryan answered. "She used to practiced on me as I grew up."

"Oh," Erin hung her head down. "Why?"

"I don't know," Bryan put his hands in his back pocket. "I just know I spent a lot of time in make-up and feminine hairstyles. My mother will freak when she finds out that a cut my hair this short, it used to be like yours."

"Were you convincing like me," Erin asked.

"More or less," Bryan replied. "But I never put on a skirt or anything, she just practiced on me because she didn't have a girl to practice on."

Erin nodded in understanding.

Unexpectedly the doorbell rang sending Erin in a frenzy. She started to run downstairs, but the skirt was very restricting.

"Honey your shoes," Bryan called.

Erin stopped and turned.

"I'll get the door."

Erin put on her shoes, then checked herself in the mirror. She was drowned in pink, but still looked good. She tried to rush downstairs, but the high heals and skirt caused her to take smaller steps. She made it to the living room where Rave was waiting for her. He stood up as she entered. He was wearing black dress pants with a red button down shirt. His hair was died red and black to coincide and his shoes were black with red flames on them.

"You look beautiful," he said astonished.

"You're not to bad yourself," Erin teased.

Rave blushed. "I kind of figured you would wear pink today," Rave reached in his pocket and brought out a ring with a pink gem in it. It only cost thirty bucks but it was all I could afford.

Raved kneeled down on one knee and held Erin's hand softly. "I know we've been going out, but I never really knew if you were my girlfriend or not, until today. Now this may be a stupid question but Erin will you be my girlfriend," he asked placing the ring on Erin's finger.

Erin put her free hand over her mouth. At that moment it was the most feminine she had ever felt. She'd been restrictive with her femininity, but maybe things would go smoother if she just went with it until it was over. "Yes," Erin nodded. "I'd love to."

Rave stood up and hugged her, and then they kissed.

After Erin got her purse and finding the keys to lock the door, Erin and Rave walked to the car where Bryan was waiting in the front seat.

"Thank goodness," said Bryan while putting the car in drive. "I'd thought you'd never get out."

"Sorry, I had to find my keys," said Erin. "And my purse, and it took me five tries to get the alarm correct.

"And I proposed," Rave cut in.

Bryan nearly ran off the road. "Wh wh what."

"No, I asked her to be my girlfriend."

"I thought she already was," Bryan asked. "It seemed as if you guys were dating."

"Rave never thought it was official," Erin said. "This will be our very first date as a couple." Erin caught a glimpse of Bryan looking at her through the rear view mirror and she winked.

Bryan winked back at Erin and continued to drive.

10 minutes later they arrived at a restaurant simply named Jean. Raved opened the door for Erin and they walked up the steps and through the door.

"This is nice," Erin said as they walked inside.

"Table for two," Rave told the guy at counter."

"Were all booked," said the guy in a rich snobbish way.

"Oh reservation for Anharing."

"Anharing," said the man. "Are you Robby or Robert."

Rave nodded and looked around very quickly.

"It's very nice to have you here Mr. Anharing, come right this way."

The man led them to a table, where Rave pulled the chair out for Erin.

"Here you go miss," the man said handing Erin a menu.

"So what do want," asked Rave.

"Do they have any hamburgers?"

Rave chuckled. "I wish." This place wouldn't be caught dead with a Mcdonald's a mile from it.

"Yeah kind of figured," Erin looked at the menu. "You know none of this on the Menu is French."

"I know, kind of creepy, so why don't we have the lobster dinner and shrimp for the appetizer."

"That'd be great."

They sat down there menus and waited for a waiter.

"So what movie do you want to see," asked Rave. "The Explorer movie just came out."

"I read that book, it was awesome."

"I did too," Rave smiled. "I can't wait to they come out with the sixth one."

"I know, they left off in the middle of the story during the fifth one."

"I wonder if Charco and Zac going to go it alone, or will they try to find the rest of the crew. It seems as if they would try."

"No Zac is too persuasive, I bet it's just going to be Charco and Zac for the rest of the trip."

"But Charco is more rebellious than Zac."

"Zac would blow Charco's head off."

"Can I get you something to drink?"

Erin and Rave both looked up at a there waiter, a tall, large man in a white suit.

"Me and the lady will both take tea," Rave started. And we'll have that shrimp platter thing for the appetizer, and we we'll both have lobster dinner."

The waiter rolled his eyes while writing there order down. He returned a while later with a couple of cups and pitcher of tea.

"Thank you," Erin said receiving her cup of tea.

Erin and Rave talked more about any and all things while eating there shrimp which came a while later.

"I hate lobster," said Rave as he ate it.

"Why'd you get," asked Erin.

"I don't know."

After eating Erin paid the bill with a credit card, and they walked down the street where a movie theatre was. When they found out where that the movie they wanted to see was sold out, they decided to watch a different called 14 ghost, and while everyone around them screamed when a scary part came on Erin and Rave laughed at them, but when a really scary part came on and a lot of screaming came with it, Rave stood up in his chair and yelled out, "It wasn't that scary, stop screaming were trying to watch the movie."

With that Rave was suspended from the movie theatre for two weeks.

"Sorry about that," Rave said as they walked down the street.

"It's okay, it was pretty funny."

"Well I have a curfew anyway, I think I need to get home."

Rave walked Erin to her house where they he kissed her on the cheek.

When safely inside Erin looked around the house she didn't see anyone in the driveway, but it was only 10 o'clock at night. She walked back downstairs and turned on the television and tried to find something to watch.

"How was the date?"

Erin turned to see Bryan behind her. "It was fine, how was yours."

"How'd you know I had date," Bryan asked.

"You had a date."

Bryan sat down next to Erin. "So did you have fun with him."

"Yeah, it was kool."

There was a long pause.

"So did Stephanie ever come back," Erin said trying to break the tension.

"Yeah, but she left again. She took my car."

"I hope you have insurance," Erin smiled.

"Yeah?"
