Jeannie's Junior Year

by: Janis Elizabeth

Prologue

My first summer as Jeannie had been quite a different and totally unexpected experience for me. With Mom's consent and the support of both my Mom and my sister Sharon that summer, I had been able to live a part of my feminine dream. From the end of the school year, I had been able to live full time as my feminine alter ego Jeannie. I was able to work that summer as a lifeguard and wear nice women's bathing suits that allowed me to have feminine tan lines on my body. I even was dating a very nice person of the opposite gender, even though the normal boy-girl relationships were completely reversed with Robby and me. Both of us, however, were very comfortable in our new roles, as Robby became the male part of our relationship, the perfect gentleman if you will, and I was the feminine partner.

Mom had even been able to explain Gene's unexpected absence this past summer and Jeannie's appearance at the same time to those that asked her about it. She stated that Gene was away assisting with his uncle's farm while the uncle, mom's brother, recovered from a very serious illness. His daughter Jeannie, in turn, had come to live with Mom and Sharon, so that she would not have to witness the daily suffering that her father was experiencing without being able to do anything about it. Everybody seemed to readily accept this explanation without any further reservation. Several people even went so far as to comment on the good resemblance between Gene and Jeannie.

September brought the beginning of a new school year with the promise of new and wonderful things for me. Mom had worked out an arrangement with a very good friend of hers, who just happened to be the Headmistress of a private school for girls. This was the school that my sister Sharon had attended before college. Through Mom's intercession, I would now be attending the school this year. My existing school records already had been requested and were properly transferred. However, they would remain with the Headmistress and a new record would be created for me. As Jeannie, I would be a member of the Junior Class at the Manor Hill Girls High School. Obviously, I was looking forward to all of these new feminine experiences and challenges that were before me.

Chapter 1

I virtually floated through the Labor Day weekend. After attending a 50's dance with Robby on Saturday, I was on Cloud 9. I remember getting dressed and going to church with Mom and Sharon and then going out to eat after the service. However, I'm not sure I could tell you anything about the sermon or what I ate while we were out. I do remember having to endure some good-natured sisterly teasing though about my faraway state of mind. I did not come back down to earth until Monday afternoon, when Mom reminded me that I needed to have things ready for my first day of school tomorrow.

Mom's statement about school reminded me that, as of tomorrow, I would begin the new school year at Manor Hill. I went back to my room and selected the uniform jumper and blouse that I would wear. I got my white satin lingerie, stockings and garter belt out of my drawer and put them on my dresser. I also made sure that my schools supplies and books were ready and waiting. Lastly, I checked my purse to make sure I had the basics of comb, makeup, compact, tissues, keys and wallet. Sharon had worked with me several times during the summer to make sure I knew how to properly carry my books as a young lady. She had also reminded me on many occasions that I needed to have enough time each morning so that I could do my hair and apply my makeup. With everything in readiness and my alarm clock set early enough to ensure I had enough time, I went to the family room to enjoy an evening of mindless television.

Just as I was passing the front door on the way to the family room, I heard the doorbell ring. When I opened it, I found Robby standing there on the porch. She was dressed in boys' jeans, a dark blue cotton pullover and white sneakers, definitely in keeping with her boyish image from this summer. After I invited her in, we went to the family room to chat and perhaps watch the television for a bit. We both realized that it could not be a late evening since tomorrow was an early school morning for both of us. However, Robby felt a need to want to talk. I was ready and willing to be an eager listener.

She told me that, during the summer, she had observed her mother's total acceptance of my femme persona Jeannie. After observing my transformation this summer, Elaine had given her approval, grudgingly at first, to Robby as she moved from her feminine Roberta or Bobbi to her new, more boyish Robby. She also commented that her mother was glad that Bobbi, I mean Robby, had found such a nice person to date. Upon hearing that comment, I blushed prettily, just like the schoolgirl I was supposed to be.

Prior to this summer, Elaine had been averse to support Robby, either in her desires to dress in a more boyish fashion or in her career choice to be an auto mechanic. Instead, she had tried to convince Bobbi that it would be more appropriate for a young lady like herself to pursue an academic career and go on to major in something like education or nursing in college. Robby had resisted her mother's suggestions and had, instead, enrolled in the auto mechanic course at school. Now, she told me that her mother was giving her full support in her career choice and in her manner of dressing. As Jeannie would be going to school this fall as a girl, Robby would be going as a boy. In the auto classes, she was regarded more as one of the guys anyway. Moreover, since she was a junior, Robby did not have to worry about taking any additional physical education classes, which might prove to be embarrassing. I was so happy for Robby that I reached out and gave her a big hug on the spot.

Just before Robby left for the evening, she asked me if I would mind dating her even though she might still have some grease and grime under her fingernails. I smiled at her and said that I wouldn't mind if she didn't mind me having nail polish on my nails. Robby smiled back and said she could deal with it. She promised to call me at least twice a week and hopefully we could go out on Saturday. I also raised the possibility that we could also attend church on Sunday. This would give us more time to be together on the weekend. Robby thought that was a great idea. She then took me and kissed me good night. After I closed the door, I dreamily floated to my room. I put on my white satin nightgown, cleaned off my makeup and drifted off into a blissful sleep.

Chapter 2

The ringing of the alarm reminded me that summer was now officially over. I quickly headed to the bathroom to shower and start to get ready for the first day of school. Fortunately, I did not have to compete with Sharon over the use of the bathroom as she had just returned to State University for her senior year. Even though she had left Sunday afternoon, I already did miss my big sister, especially today, and wished that she could be here when I left for school. After I dried myself off and used the lilac scented dusting powder, I properly wrapped a towel around me and went to my room to get dressed. I carefully put my satin lingerie and stockings on and made sure that my breast forms were properly positioned in my bra. I also made sure that I used my sanitary pad to properly hold me in place.

I put on my short sleeve, white uniform blouse and buttoned it up. As I slid my light blue uniform jumper over my head, I realized how different it was going to be to wear this type of uniform to school every day. I slid my shoes on my feet and then quickly and carefully did my makeup. For the first day, I only used some foundation, a little blush and lipstick. Mom came into the room just as I finished applying my lipstick. She picked up my hairbrush and gently brushed my hair out and then applied some hairspray. She then hugged me and said that she hoped my experiences as Jeannie would all be pleasant. I smiled and again thanked her for helping me achieve this dream.

Mom had prepared a nice breakfast for me. Just as I finished eating, the telephone rang. Mom answered it and then handed me the phone. As I said hello, I heard, "Jeannie, I just wanted to call and wish my little sister well on her first day of school. I know you will do fine." I almost cried with joy when I heard Sharon's voice. For a few brief seconds, I was too choked up even to speak. Finally, I composed myself and told her that I was happy that she had called and how I'd missed having her here this morning. Sharon said she had wanted to be there with me but her class schedule wouldn't allow for it. She then reminded me that I should be leaving for school soon. I smiled at her through the phone and thanked her for calling. Sharon promised to keep in touch to see how I was doing. Hearing from big sister now made the first day easier to face.

Mom drove me to the school and escorted me into the office to meet her friend, Mrs. Willingham, the Headmistress of Manor Hill. Mrs. W (as I learned all of the girls called her) greeted me in a very friendly manner and welcomed me to the school. She explained that in each of the four grades of the school, there were no more than eighty girls per grade. Class size would be twenty girls. She then gave me my class schedule, locker location and combination and gave me a quick idea of where classrooms, the library, the cafeteria and the restrooms were located. Just before I headed for my homeroom, Mrs. W smiled and gave me a big hug. She had her doubts when Mom approached her about having Gene attend Manor Hill as Jeannie. However, she told me that she was pleasantly pleased at how nice and feminine I looked. She hoped that my stay at Manor Hill to be a pleasant and a rewarding one. With one last big hug from Mom, I was off to my classes.

Chapter 3

In homeroom, I was introduced to my classmates. All of the girls were very friendly. Some of the girls, like me, were wearing their uniform jumpers and some were wearing their uniform skirts. The teacher had me briefly introduce myself to the class. I gave my name and said that I was living with my Aunt until things got better at home. I did not elaborate on that and the girls did not ask me.

During class changes, I started talking with three of the girls in my class. I felt like I was instantly included in their circle. During lunch, the four of us sat together, eating and chatting. Rachel, Amy and Sarah had become friends when they were freshmen here at Manor Hill. Rachel and Amy played soccer, basketball and softball for the Bluebirds while Sarah was a cheerleader. When they asked me if I would be going out for any sports teams, I said that I really wasn't a good athlete. Although Rachel and Amy were disappointed, Sarah kept on, saying that the Spirit Squad could always use another cheerleader. She asked if I could come out to practice in the gym after school. She even offered me a ride home after practice. I thanked her for asking me and for her offer of a ride. I said I'd be there.

The rest of the day was eventful only in the amount of books I wound up with and the amount of required reading and homework to be done. In my classes, I was always seated near one or more of my new friends. The final bell for the day found me stopping by my locker to leave some of my books. I also called home to let Mom know I would be late before I went on to cheerleader practice in the gym. I still had an armload of books even after I left the unneeded ones in my locker. Sharon had made me aware of the amount of work that the teachers of Manor Hill would require each day. Nevertheless, she felt that I could handle the academics easily. After surviving the first day, I hoped her confidence wasn't misplaced.

I proceeded to the gym where several girls were already sitting in the stands, Sarah among them. When she saw me arrive, she waved at me and indicated that I should come over and sit with her. As I joined her on the front row of the stands, Sarah introduced me to the members of the Manor Hill Spirit Squad. Miss Bliss, the cheerleading coach, joined us while Sarah was making the introductions. She shook my hand and said that she was glad to have another cheerleader for the year. She asked if I was a good student and would I be available for the games. I assured her that I was both a good student and would be available if she felt that I was a good cheerleader.

With that, we began with some stretching exercises before we began some of our routines. Doing cartwheels and tumbling were essential qualities that were needed to be a cheerleader. Fortunately, I had been in gymnastics when I was younger. With that in my background, along with my swimming, I was reasonably fit. This enabled me to keep up with the rest of the girls. It is interesting turning cartwheels in a knee-length uniform skirt. Nevertheless, I managed, along with the rest of the girls. After practice, Miss Bliss officially welcomed me to the Spirit Squad while the other girls applauded her announcement. I beamed with pride at the recognition.

Sarah and Julie led me to the uniform room where I selected the proper size uniform skirt, top and blouse. The short sleeve blouse was white satin and had a rounded collar. The top was a form-fitting, front-buttoned sleeveless vest in light blue with a white script Manor Hill across the front. The short skirt was light blue with box pleats. The pleats were white. Sarah told me that the shoe store at the mall had white sneakers trimmed in light blue that matched the rest of the uniform. She also suggested that white anklets trimmed in light blue would also be needed. Julie said that the rest of the girls on the squad all wore light blue satin panties under their skirts. When I asked her where I would buy some, she suggested the department store at the mall. I thanked her for her suggestion.

As I was gathering my books and my new uniform, I encountered all of the members of the Spirit Squad standing outside the uniform room. Each of the girls gave me a big hug and welcomed me to the squad. I blushed over this unexpected additional attention from all of the girls. It was equally unexpected when I hugged Paige and felt her hands quickly sliding across my bottom. As we broke our embrace, I glanced at her for a reaction and saw a brief smile cross her face. I think Paige would have been surprised had she known the secrets under my skirt.

While we drove home, I asked Sarah about Paige's extra touch. She just giggled a little and said that other members of the squad suspected that Paige was more interested in girls than in boys. All of the girls, at one time or another had felt an unexpected touch when Paige was near. Still, nobody had any definite proof one way or the other. I filed that bit of information into the back of my mind for possible future reference. From all aspects, this looked like it would be an interesting school year.

Chapter 4

My daily routine was quickly established. I would usually take my shower the night before so that I could get a few minutes more sleep in the morning. Once I awoke, I would wash my face, use some scented talc and then get dressed in my lingerie and school uniform. One day I would wear the skirt and blazer, the next I would wear my uniform jumper. After doing my makeup, I would join Mom for breakfast. Mom always had a nice breakfast prepared for me before driving me to school.

In my classes, I would try to absorb as much as I could. During the day, I would chat with Rachel, Amy and Sarah whenever we had a free moment. At lunch we talked about many things, including boys. They asked me if I had a steady boyfriend. I blushed slightly and nodded. When they pressed me for details, I told them briefly about Robby. Amy told me that, from my description, he sounded very nice. I assured her that Robby was, indeed, very nice.

After classes, I would practice with the Spirit Squad, although I did keep a close eye on Paige to see if there were any other unexpected touches, which, fortunately, there were not. Around the second week of school, we began to cheer at our home soccer games. The game would be in lieu of our usual afternoon practice. On those days, I would carry my uniform to school and then change in the locker room after class. The first few times that I wore the uniform, I had difficulty getting used to the shortness of my skirt. I felt like I was totally exposed and that everyone could see my pretty panties. When I got home, I would change into a skirt and blouse and study until bedtime, taking a break for dinner with Mom.

There was usually a nice interruption sometime after dinner when the phone would ring and I would hurry to my phone to get it. I knew that it would be Robby calling. During our chat, which usually lasted around a half-hour, I would lay across my bed. At times we would talk, usually about school or our classmates, and at other times we just sat there listening to each other breathe. Occasionally, she would say something that would cause me to would giggle. During our evening chats we always planned our weekends. No matter what we would plan to do for Saturday, we would always attend church on Sunday. I would always wear a pretty feminine dress and heels while Robby would wear a nice pair of slacks, an oxford cloth shirt and a tie. It always amused me to see Robby in a neatly tied tie, as I had not really mastered that skill when I dressed as Gene.

One of our home soccer games was played against my former high school. I had a casual acquaintance with several of the girls on the team as well as a few others who seemed to attend all of the games. I had not seen any of these girls since June. I was concerned that one or two might recognize me and reveal my true identity. As the game approached, I became more of a nervous wreck over being found out. The day of the game, I awoke with such stomach cramps that you would have thought I was experiencing my time of the month.

Mom recognized the real cause of my anxiety. She told me to behave today as I had behaved everyday since I became Jeannie full time at the beginning of the summer. No one had suspected anything until now and no one should suspect anything today, if I acted normally. I felt better after hearing her reassuring words. As an added touch to calm my nerves, Mom fixed me hot tea with lemon and honey along with my breakfast.

Throughout the school day, I still had the feeling of impending doom hanging over me. While I was changing into my cheerleader's uniform, Sarah and Julie asked if there was anything the matter. I told them that my monthly was causing me more intense cramps than I had ever experienced previously. When they asked if I was taking anything, I nodded and said that I couldn't take another dose for a few hours. I said that I would still go out and give my best effort to the Spirit Squad. The girls then gave me grateful smiles, which made me feel better. As I put my hair into two pigtails, Sarah tied a light blue ribbon around one and Julie tied the other.

When we appeared at the field during team warm-ups, I noticed that a few of the visiting girls were glancing my way. They then seemed to look more intently at me. I was determined to behave normally. During the game, I helped lead the cheers using my blue and white pom-poms and doing the usual gymnastics routines. After the game, girls on both sides mingled briefly before going their own separate ways. Two of the girls stopped to talk with me. I could feel my stomach turning over as I felt that I was about to be unmasked. One of the girls, Mary, commented on how much I resembled a former classmate of theirs named Gene. I repeated the cover story that Gene was my cousin who had gone to assist my seriously ill father with the farm. I had come to live here until things got better at home. Once I said that, Mary nodded her head and again commented on the resemblance. She wished the best for me and said that she couldn't wait to see Gene again because, as she told me confidentially, she had a crush on him but he had never noticed her. I said that her secret was safe with me. They then went to join their friends. I breathed a sigh of relief over what I saw as a close call. Hopefully, there would be no more close encounters of this kind the rest of the year.

Chapter 5

October was a busy month for me in many respects. First, Mom consented to let me get my driver's license as Jeannie. There was a little concern over me not having my birth certificate when I applied for my learner's permit, but Mom affirmed to the examiner that I was indeed born when I said I was born. The examiner then accepted the rest of the information on my application without batting an eye. After learning the entire driver's handbook and spending several hours each week driving with Mom, whether to school or on weekends, I passed both the written and the driving test with flying colors. I walked out of the motor vehicles administration with my photo driver's license in the name of Jeannie Joy Marin with an "F" under Sex. Along with my store charge account, I was developing a complete identity for myself.

During the second weekend of October, Sharon had a scheduled break from her classes. She immediately headed for home and was waiting when I walked in wearing my cheerleader's uniform. She told me that I looked very cute, especially with my short skirt showing off my nice legs. It was good to again have my big sister lovingly teasing me, even if for only the weekend.

That evening, we had our own mini slumber party in Sharon's room. I sat on her bed wearing a pink satin baby doll set with lace all over. Sharon wore a waltz-length nightgown of ivory satin. It looked lovely on her. As we talked, we applied polish to each other's toenails. Sharon took a look at my ears for a few seconds and then announced that it was time her little sister got her ears pierced. She was treating me to this special experience. I was thrilled at the prospect of being able to wear all of the pretty pierced styles I had seen. I was ready to switch to pierced earrings as it was also getting painful wearing the clip-on earrings every time.

On Saturday, we were up nice and early. Clad in our sleepwear, robes and slippers, we joined Mom in the kitchen for breakfast. Sharon told her what our plans were for today. Mom smiled and said that it was good that I was finally getting my ears pierced. We helped clean up the breakfast dishes and then went and got dressed. Over my satin lingerie, I wore a nice short sleeve shirtwaist dress in green. I carefully did my makeup and hair and then applied a light spray of perfume. I put on low heels because we were going to do some walking today. Sharon wore a sleeveless white cotton shell and a straight knee-length navy skirt. Her hair and makeup gave her a nice perky appearance.

We headed for the earring place in the mall. I asked Sharon if it would hurt any. She assured me that I would only feel a tiny pinprick and then it would be done. She reminded me that there were a lot of attractive styles that I could wear once my ears were pierced. At the mall, we parked the car and went in the entrance closest to the Earring Kiosk. After telling the saleslady that I wanted to finally get my ears pierced, I was seated on a stool next to the counter. The saleslady prepared to pierce my ears. Using an alcohol-coated cloth, she carefully cleaned my one lobe. Taking a tool that looked like a hand-held staple gun, she put it next to my "sterile" earlobe and pulled the trigger. I felt a quick, sharp pain as the needle penetrated my lobe. She again swabbed my ear with alcohol and then put a gold post earring in the hole. I turned around and she repeated the process. Before I knew it, I had gold post earrings in both ears. The saleslady proceeded to give me instructions on the proper care of my ears, including cleaning around them to prevent infection and leaving the posts in for a week until the holes healed. Before we left, Sharon had me pick out five pairs of earrings that I liked. I looked at the wonderful array of styles trying to pick out only five. Finally, I made my selections and gave them to the saleslady. As Sharon paid the bill, I stood looking in the mirror at my newly pierced ears. We then spent the rest of the morning trying on new clothes. Out of all our shopping, I only bought two pairs of stockings while Sharon purchased a hairbrush. It was a good time just being with my big sister.

Halloween this year fell on a Saturday. About two weeks beforehand, Robby asked if I minded being at her house to help hand out candy to the kids, since her Mom was going out. I said that I didn't mind if I could be in costume. Robby agreed and then asked what I would wear. I smiled an enigmatic smile and told her she would just have to wait and see. Mom and I had already selected my costume.

Before I could celebrate Halloween, however, I had to see how my grades were at the end of the first quarter. We received our grade reports in our last class on the Wednesday before Halloween. While I had no doubts about passing, I did wonder if I had made the Honor Roll. As our teacher handed them out, she said that Mrs. Willingham wanted to see me. Apparently, Rachel Amy and Sarah received the same message. I quickly glanced at the report and almost fainted. I had received all A's. The teacher excused the four of us. As we walked to Mrs. W's office, we naturally asked each other about our grades. All four of us had gotten all A's. Mrs. W was waiting for us as we entered her office. She beamed as she congratulated us on being the Junior Class' Distinguished Honor Roll for this quarter. She encouraged us girls to keep up the good work in the succeeding quarters. I seemed to detect a little extra smile as she looked at me and said "girls." Naturally, I blushed slightly. We then returned to our class for the rest of the day.

On Halloween morning, I went and took a long, soaking bath. I placed several aroma candles on the counter to help set the feminine mood. I also made sure that I used my depilatory cream on my body. When I finally got out of the bath, I carefully dried off and then used a lilac scented skin cream with aloe to soothe my soft, smooth skin. I wrapped my towel properly around me and went to my room. As I didn't want to dress until I needed to put on my costume, I just put on a black satin garter belt, black satin bra and panties and my black stockings. I then put on my slippers and a robe and went to help Mom with the cleaning and the laundry.

In the early afternoon, I returned to my room to get ready. I started with long fingernail extensions carefully placed on my fingers. The effect was to have inch long nails, which I coated with a very red polish. Once they were dry, I did my makeup in a more exaggerated manner than normal. I used black eye shadow on my eyelids, heavy mascara on my lashes and extra blush on my cheeks. I then used red lipstick that matched my new nail color to coat my lips.

Mom came in at that point to assist me with my preparations. She nodded approvingly over my makeup. She then got my four-inch black patent heels for me to step into. Next, came a black satin, ankle-length full slip, which I carefully slid over my body. Mom handed me my dress to put on. It was a black satin dress with a Vee neckline and long sleeves. As I smoothed the full, flowing skirt into place, Mom zipped up the back of the dress. Lastly was my black shoulder-length wig, which Mom gently fitted over my natural hair. A little styling and hairspray created the appearance that I desired. A silver pendant and long, dangling silver earrings completed my costume.

Mom smiled and said I definitely looked like Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, with my dress, wig and makeup. I was glad it turned out so well. I picked up my purse and carefully made my way to the car. Had any of our neighbors been watching, I am sure that they would have done a double take seeing me in my costume. Mom drove me to Robby's. I promised to call her if I needed a ride.

Mom waited as I went to the front door. Elaine answered, dressed like a storybook princess in a pink satin, full-skirted gown, elbow length satin gloves and a gold tiara on her head. When she saw me, she said, "Jeannie, is that you? You look wonderful as Elvira." At that moment Robby came in and saw me. She was completely amazed by my costume as I was with hers. She was wearing a tuxedo, cape and fake fangs. She had used some theatrical makeup to give her a pale, pasty complexion and some hair cream to slick down her hair. In a mock Transylvanian accent, she said, "My dear, you look good enough to eat. Come here. I vant to bite your neck." We all laughed over Robby's impersonation of Dracula. Elaine went for her camera and took pictures of Robby and I together. I must admit, when I saw the picture later, we did make a pretty scary couple.

Elaine left shortly thereafter; saying that Robby should not wait up for her. She told us there were snacks in the kitchen and sodas in the refrigerator for us. Robby said we might have a pizza delivered. She had also gotten "Scary Movie", "Friday the 13th" and "Halloween" for us to watch. Robby also indicated that she would be driving me home later.

We started watching one of the movies. I cuddled into Robby's arm for comfort. I felt so safe with her arm around me. During the movie, we must have had a dozen kids come trick or treating. All of the kids looked cute in their costumes. I think that maybe Robby and I scared a few of the younger ones when they saw us as Dracula and Elvira. Traffic lessened a lot during the second movie that we watched. At 9:00 p.m., we had seen the last of the trick-or-treaters and we were tired of watching movies. As we sat there, snuggled up with each other, watching a football game, I realized that I was truly enjoying my life as Jeannie. Next to being a real girl, I had the best of all possible worlds. I was able to live fulltime as my femme persona with the complete and total support of my Mom and sister. I was going to a private school for girls, serving as a cheerleader and had developed a nice group of friends at school. Lastly, but most importantly, I had a wonderful "boyfriend" in Robby. I was in heaven as Robby bent her head down to kiss me.

Chapter 6

The entire school was involved in staging the Christmas Dance each year. It was the highlight of the fall semester, signifying the end, hopefully successfully, of the fall term and the beginning of Christmas break. Teachers attended, not only as chaperones, but also as participants in the evening. Alumnae were even known to attend the annual dance. Each class took a role in getting ready, whether it was in decorating the gym, providing refreshments or arranging for a local band to play. Our class was involved with the decorations. Naturally, this meant that Sarah, Amy, Rachel and I were working with our classmates to design the decorations and ultimately hang them in the gym. The dance was semi-formal, which meant that I could again wear my wonderful gold satin cocktail dress.

As we made the decorations, we talked about whom we were bringing and what we would be wearing. Rachel would be bringing her steady boyfriend. Sarah was still debating over which of two boys she was dating to ask. Amy wasn't dating anyone at the moment, so she decided to ask a young man from her church youth group. I told the girls that I would be bringing Robby, of course, and wearing my gold satin cocktail dress. When I described it, my friends thought it sounded dreamy. I assured them that it was lovely to look at and to wear.

Grade reports came out on Friday with the dance being held the next evening. Again, the teacher of our last class handed them out and again the four of us were asked to report to Mrs. W's office. This time we knew what to expect. To confirm my hunch, I quickly glanced at my grade report and again saw all A's. I saw Rachel and Sarah smiling, indicating that they had gotten all A's also. Amy was not smiling as broadly, we later found out because she received an A- in Phys. Ed. While not keeping her from the Distinguished Honor Roll, because it was a non-academic subject, she nonetheless, technically, did not receive all A's. We tried to cheer her up as we went to Mrs. W's office to receive our recognition.

By the time we arrived, Amy had accepted the grade and was smiling as broadly as the rest of us. Mrs. W jokingly referred to us as the "Four Musketeers" since we were the only Juniors to make the Distinguished roll in both quarters. Before we left, Mrs. W. again encouraged us "girls" to keep up the good work. We thanked her for her kind words and returned to our class for the end of the day.

Saturday morning found me rising early, because I had an appointment to get my hair and nails done in preparation for the dance. Sharon, who had been home from college for a week, was going with me as she had also planned to attend the Christmas dance. In addition to my white satin lingerie, I wore a short sleeve light blue silky blouse with a rounded collar and a denim swing skirt. Sharon wore a sleeveless blouse and an A-line skirt, both in shades of green. We arrived early at the beauty salon. Even though I was prepared to wait, I found that Karen was ready for me.

As I headed for the shampoo bowl, I noticed Sharon about two steps behind me headed in the same direction. Her stylist, Tracy, was also ready for her. As shampoo capes were draped over our bodies, we were reclined to the shampoo bowl, there to enjoy a stimulating and relaxing shampoo and conditioning. Karen directed me to her styling station after toweling off the excess water. Since Tracy worked at the next station, the four of us were able to talk about the upcoming holidays and about the evening's dance. Tracy kidded my sister about going to the dance just to keep an eye on me. In response, Sharon said that her little sister was on her own tonight. We all laughed over that.

With rollers in our hair and pink hairnets covering our rollers, Sharon and I were seated under to plastic dome-hooded dryers. The manicure table was rolled between us as Karen and Tracy started working on our nails. After soaking, filing and cleaning my nails, Karen applied medium red enamel. I noticed that Sharon was getting the bright red polish for her nails. In both cases, the polish gave our nails a wet look, even when it had dried. I simply loved the appearance of my polished nails.

Back at the styling stations, Karen and Tracy went to work, creating their magic with our hair. With comb, brush, styling gel and hairspray, Karen created a nice style, with a bit of curl. Additionally, she took the tendrils of hair framing my face and curled and teased them to add to my appearance. Karen also sprinkled some glitter on my hair, giving it more of a holiday appearance. Sharon had her longish hair done in an up do, which gave her entire face a very dramatic appearance.

Back at home, we had time to eat a light mid-afternoon meal and then start to get ready. I changed into my gold satin lingerie, being careful not to disturb my hair as I put my slip on. Of course, the requisite sanitary pad was properly positioned in my panties before I proceeded. I then did my makeup with extra care, making sure that I applied just the right amount of blush to my cheeks and mascara to my eyelashes. I carefully blotted my lips after applying several coats of creamy lipstick.

I stepped into my four-inch heels and then into my crinolines and placed them around my waist. Even though we were the same height, I knew that Robby loved to see me wear four-inch heels. She would always tell me how nice my legs looked in the heels. Each time Robby would say that, I would blush in mock embarrassment. She did not feel the least bit self-conscious as I towered above her while in my heels.

I put on a gold necklace and bracelet. From my ears hung decorative little Christmas trees, swaying with each step. I carefully put my dress over my head and then went to Sharon's room to have her zip me up. Sharon was just about ready also. She was wearing a knee-length red satin sheath that fitted her well and matching four-inch heels. She quickly obliged my request to be zipped up and then asked me to return the favor.

Just about then, Robby arrived. I hugged my big sister and said I would see her at the dance. I then went to meet my date. She gave me a wrist corsage done in seasonal flowers. I smiled and quickly put it on my wrist. Robby looked particularly dapper tonight in a dark blue suit, light blue shirt and red striped tie. I picked up my purse, made sure I had our tickets and left on Robby's arm. She held my arm and gently guided me to the car. From there, it was on to school and the dance.

All of the girls looked particularly festive in their dresses and dressy skirt and blouse sets. Rachel wore a dark blue, full skirted, silky dress. Sarah looked lovely in a dark green sheath. Amy wore a long red skirt and a green, long sleeve satin blouse with pointed collar. We introduced our dates and our friends to each other and then found an area where we could all sit together. We even saw Paige there wearing a lovely dark green satin pantsuit with a white satin blouse and dark green heels. She was moving gracefully across the gym with a young man in tow. It was also interesting seeing the adults, even Mrs. W, dressed in festive holiday attire, enjoying the evening. Sharon arrived a little after we did with her long-time steady boyfriend. When she found our group, I introduced everyone. Sharon smiled, told me to have a good time and then said she would see me later at home.

The decorations that we had so painstakingly made and carefully hung truly gave the gym an appearance of Christmas. Our hard work was being enjoyed by all. Unfortunately, the pleasant evening ended all too quickly. The band, at the request of the teachers, closed the evening with the old standard, "I'll See You In My Dreams." As Robby held me and guided me around the floor, I knew that I would indeed see her in my very pleasant dreams that night. After the last number, my friends and I hugged and said our good-byes and said we would be in touch during the holidays. My first semester as a Manor Hill Junior was now officially complete. To say the least, it had exceeded my wildest expectations.

Chapter 7

In my mind, Christmas is always a very special time. From the carols filling the air to the traditional candle lighting service on Christmas Eve to the family dinners and present exchanges on Christmas Day, it was a time that I always enjoyed. I had done all of my Christmas shopping early. It seemed so different and so much easier this year shopping as Jeannie. I felt very comfortable shopping for clothes for Mom and my sister. Also, I shopped for two additional presents, one for Robby and one for her mom, Elaine. I found a lovely full, dark green satin skirt and a light green, satin blouse set for my Mom. For my big sister, I found a black satin, waltz-length negligee set with lots of lace that I just knew would look nice on her. When I was at a loss over what to get Elaine, Mom suggested that perfume is always a nice present to give. Robby and I went shopping for my gift to her Mom. We found a nice fragrance that we both agreed that she would like.

My biggest problem was what to get Robby. I mean, what do you get for a "boy" that you have been dating for only six months yet you know is so very special to you? I wanted a special gift that wasn't inappropriate or too personal. After much thought, I finally settled on a very nice man's leather wallet and key ring. I put a nickel into the wallet, so that, in theory, Robby would never be broke. I carefully wrapped and tagged each of the presents. I wanted them to look nice under the tree on Christmas.

Robby and I had planned to go to Christmas Eve service. I wanted to wear a nice outfit that evening, in keeping with the colors of the season. I selected a long, plaid skirt and a long sleeve, green satin blouse with a nice pointed collar. Tonight, I would be wearing red four-inch heels. As I got ready, Sharon helped me with my hair. I sat at my vanity as she brushed my hair and did a bit of styling with the styling gel. After she was done, I smiled and thanked her with a big hug. I then got dressed in my Christmas outfit. With a spray of perfume, and one last check of my hair and makeup, I headed for the door to meet Robby.

The service was a very pleasant experience. As always, we shared a hymnal. While we were seated, Robby would gently hold my hand as she paid attention to the service. During the candle lighting, Robby held my hand and guided my candle to be lit from hers. I, in turn, passed it on to my neighbor. Afterwards, we greeted other members of the congregation, as we made our way outside.

In the car, Robby turned to me and asked me a very special question. "Jeannie, would you wear my school ring?" I looked at Robby and shyly asked her if that meant we were going steady. She nodded her assent. I smiled and said, "In that case, I would be happy to wear your ring." She easily slipped it off of her right hand and carefully placed it on the ring finger of my left hand. It was a little loose in the fit. I told Robby that I would be careful wearing. As I looked at her ring on my finger, Robby said that maybe some day she would replace it with a diamond ring. I was so overcome with happiness and joy, both at wearing her ring and the prospect of a future diamond, I reached out and gave her a big hug and a kiss, as we sat in the middle of the church parking lot.

At home, I kissed Robby 'Good Night' and reminded her that I would see her tomorrow when she and her Mom came for Christmas dinner. As I opened the door, I overheard my sister talking excitedly with Mom. I had barely closed the door when Sharon excitedly rushed up to me and showed me her left hand. I saw a lovely diamond ring on her ring finger. When I looked quizzically at her, she said that her boyfriend had given her an engagement ring for Christmas. They had talked about getting married around next Christmas. She then asked if I would serve as her Maid of Honor. Before I could say anything, she continued by saying that she would love to have her little sister stand with her on that special day. I was so happy, both for her and for myself, that I gave her a big hug.

When we separated, we were holding each other's hands. Only then did Sharon look down and see my left hand. In response to her surprised look, I nodded and said that Robby had asked me to go steady and I had accepted. Sharon squealed with joy for me and gave me a big hug. She stepped back and asked if there was a diamond in my future. I smiled modestly and said that anything was possible. I also reminded Sharon that I was only a Junior in High School.

Mom was happy for both of us. She said that we would exchange our presents in the morning. Sharon and I headed for our rooms giggling and chattering about Christmas, our rings and Sharon's wedding. Sleep would have to wait tonight as Sharon and I, wearing our nightgowns, sat up and talked about the wedding.

Chapter 8

Mom greeted her two sleepy daughters on Christmas morning with a nice breakfast. By the time we were finished eating, there was a little more life in us. We gathered around the tree and had Mom open her presents first. Sharon gave her a lovely full-skirted, knee length, dress in red satin and a bottle of her favorite perfume. Mom thanked us both for our presents, saying she really liked both gifts. She then said that Sharon and I should open our gifts together, starting with our Christmas stockings. Sharon kidded me by saying she bet mine was filled with coal. I laughed and threw a pillow at her.

Mom was taking pictures, as her daughters behaved like two little kids. Our stockings contained necessities such as makeup, rollers, hair spray, satin panties and stockings. There was also new shower caps, satin sleep bonnets and change purses for each of us. The regular presents included two satin skirt and blouse sets, a satin dress and two new satin, waltz-length nightgowns. We both hugged Mom for her lovely presents. Sharon loved the negligee that I gave her. As it turns out, she gave me something similar, only my negligee was ankle-length and in lavender satin. I simply loved it.

Since Robby and Elaine and Sharon's fiancé would be there shortly for dinner, we all needed to get dressed and help with the meal preparations. Mom said that my outfit from last night would look nice. I quickly did my hair and makeup and got dressed. It still was different looking at the addition to my left hand.

Mom was in the kitchen, wearing a ruffled white apron over a lovely blue pants suit. Sharon quickly got out two more aprons for us. Mine was also white with ruffles. I put in over my outfit. Sharon covered her green satin blouse and her full, ankle-length green satin skirt with her apron. We then pitched in doing what was needed to finish getting the meal ready and the table set.

Sharon's fiancé, Matt, was the first to arrive. Mom and I hugged him and officially welcomed him to the family. I kidded him by saying that Sharon made a good catch but I wasn't sure if he did. He chuckled over my comment. In a few minutes, Robby and her Mom arrived. Elaine greeted me with a hug and said that she was happy that Robby and I were now going steady.

After we ate, we exchanged presents. Mom had a gift for both Robby and Elaine. In turn, Robby had a gift for Mom and Elaine had one for me. I opened Elaine's gift to find a lovely silver vanity set of comb, brush and mirror. I loved it and told her so. Robby liked the wallet and key ring I had gotten her. When I opened her present, I let out a little gasp. For my birthday this summer, she had given me a bottle of very feminine perfume, which I simply loved. This time, she had given me the complete gift set, including the perfume, dusting powder, body cream and hand cream.

Over dessert, the talk turned to Sharon and Matt and their engagement. Naturally, preliminary plans for the December wedding were discussed. Sharon mentioned briefly what she wanted in her wedding gown and what her color scheme would be for her Maid of Honor and her bridesmaids. She indicated that I would serve as her Maid of Honor. Robby seemed to briefly have a faraway look in her eyes before again focusing on the talk. The pleasant holiday evening seemed to end all too quickly.

While Mom and Elaine were saying their good nights in the foyer, Robby and I lingered in the dining room, exchanging a nice good night kiss. Sharon walked in on us and made some noise to let us know she was there. We quickly parted and were both slightly embarrassed. Sharon just smiled at us with our reddened faces. I held Robby's hand as we walked to the door. I was sad to see her go, but I knew that I would be talking with her and seeing her again soon. Sharon and I were both in a dreamy mood as we helped Mom clean up the house.

Epilogue

New Year's Eve brought the end of the old year and the beginning of the new one. This time last year, I was barely existing as Gene, hiding my passion for all things feminine from everyone. I felt like I dared not reveal this deep secret for fear of the ridicule and rejection would face. Still, I was finally able to admit my desires to my big sister on that fateful Friday. Through her initial assistance and Mom's subsequent understanding, I had been able to live out my dream of being Jeannie. I was fortunate that this had developed into a full time opportunity for me. I even had a steady "boyfriend" that I adored and who adored me. By this time next year, I will have become a Senior at Manor Hill and served as my sister's Maid of Honor.

There had been so many wonderful experiences for me. Still there was the question that Mom posed after Christmas. She wanted to know if I wanted to begin the medical treatments that would permanently allow me to be Jeannie. After much thought, I realized that I was happy the way I was. I was totally accepted as a female. If my relationship with Robby continued to grow, as I hoped it would, I would someday like to have children with her. (I mean being able to sire them with her. Robby would still have to bear them, although I would wear maternity clothes during the pregnancy.) I told Mom that I was very contented with the way that I was and that no changes were needed. Besides, this way, both of her daughters could, some day, present her with grandchildren.
