Mommy Must I

by Robin Diaz

Chapter Nine

The three of us sat in the back seat. When I climbed in first, I thought Becky was going to sit in the front seat, but Vanessa and Becky got in opposite sides, squeezing me in the center. At first I was annoyed with Becky, but then found being stuck in the center was comforting. I felt safe. What became annoying was how Becky kept pushing me against Vanessa, telling me to slide my fat ass over.

Vanessa enjoyed the fact that Bobbie Sue was up-close and cozy. She nonchalantly rested her hand on his leg. She found the touch of his smooth legs sexy. She had the urge to caress his bare thigh, but thought it would be inappropriate with Becky sitting next to them.

Mrs. Strikler stopped the car in the drop off zone in front of the theater, "Here you go girls. Becky do you have the phone?"

"Yes, I got it."

"Call when the movie is over."

"Pick us up at the ice cream shop," Becky pointed down the strip mall

"OK."

I wanted to protest, but Becky had already closed the door. Mom pulled away leaving the three of us standing outside the theater. I was afraid to move. I surveyed the entrance, which was a crowd of teenagers. They were all talking, laughing and having a good time. We stood in silence. I was relieved that I did not recognize anybody.

"Do you want to stick together or do you two want to be alone?" Becky asked while looking at the entrance.

"We can stick together," I said.

Vanessa took my hand, "You can go."

"Maybe I should leave you two lovers alone," Becky was looking beyond us; she had already mentally dismissed us.

"Just go!" I didn't know why I should want her with me.

"If you two don't want me around that is fine with me," Becky walked away.

Vanessa and I got in the ticket line. I felt like every person was staring at me. My stomach started to hurt. My legs became weak. I thought I was going to vomit.

"Are you ok?" Vanessa asked.

I took a deep breath, trying to rid myself of the feeling of being on display, "Yeah, I'm fine. I just wish this line would move."

While I was talking to Vanessa, I noticed a two teenage boys staring at me. The boys looked to be our age. One was tall and slender with long dirty blonde hair. He had an un-kept look, with his shirt hanging out of the baggy pants he wore. The other boy was average, with brown hair parted on the side. He wore a striped button down shirt with the sleeves scrunched up his arms. They turned away when they saw I caught them looking at me. I pulled my hand away from Vanessa's, self conscious about what I was doing and the way I looked. I was afraid that they could tell I was a boy. I also wished I had worn a longer skirt and a less revealing top; no longer wanting to look pretty. I just wanted to blend in and disappear.

Vanessa looked at me when I pulled my hand away. I whispered to her, "Those boys were staring at me."

Vanessa looked in the direction I nodded, "Those two by the door?"

"Yeah."

The boys turned their heads to study some me more. The thought, 'they know', repeated in my head. I was reaching a state of near panicking. The boys smiled. I took that to be the start of my humiliation. They nodded their heads, saying hi. I thought they were flirting with me. I looked away, embarrassed at having a boy flirt with me. Vanessa continued to look at them.

"Shit, they're coming over," Vanessa stated. She had hoped that her date with Bobbie Sue would be uninterrupted.

"Oh, God, what are we going to do?" I whispered, sliding behind Vanessa slightly.

Both boys read Bobbie Sue's action that the cute one was shy. That boosted their confidence. They each proclaimed to the other, "She's mine." Then, being the teenyboppers they were, they punched each other in the arm, and stated, "Owe me a Coke." The un-kept one pointed to his friend, "Mine."

Becky walked up behind us, "What Dorks."

I felt better having Becky by my side.

When the boys turned their attention back to the girls, they discovered a new girl. It was clear to them that she was the cute one's older sister. They slowed to a stop. Older sisters were always bad luck and trouble. Becky gave the boys a look, which they read loud and clear, 'Get Lost'! The boys, defeated, turned and walked away.

"Thanks Sis. I owe you."

Vanessa did not like it that Becky had ruined her opportunity to be the hero, "I was going to handle them."

"It's always fun to scare little boys," both heard the delight in Becky's voice.

"I forgot to give you your money," Becky handed me a ten dollar bill.

"Thanks, I forgot about it." Without thinking, I went to stick the money in my front pocket. Not having any pockets, or anywhere to stow the money, I stood holding it in my hand.

"Do you want me to stick around until after you get your snacks?"

"Yeah, that would be nice," I felt safer with her by his side.

Not happy, Vanessa stated. "If you want," she felt it would have been easier to get rid of the dorky boys.

"I see you need a purse," Becky told me.

"Really," I stated in agreement. As soon as I'd said it, I felt that it sounded different from what I intended. I meant I needed something to hold my money. I could tell by the expression on Becky's face she read my statement, as 'Yes, I need a purse.'

Becky affirmed, "Every girl needs a purse."

I could not tell if she was teasing me.

"Now I know what Aunt Monica can get you for your birthday," Becky stated.

I did not respond. I figured out what she was trying to do, she was trying to get me to make a seen. I was not going to play. I glanced over to see if the boys were looking at me.

Vanessa noticed Bobbie Sue's action. She became a little jealous and hurt. Her date with Bobbie Sue was not going well. She had this romantic idea of what a date should be like. Older sisters and cute boys were not part of that idea. She took hold of Bobbie Sue's hand.

We stood in the line holding hands. I wished we were not holding hands. I did not want people to look at us, and think that we were lesbians, or see what I really was. I relaxed some after I saw other girls holding hands. But I also had to admit that my first thought was lesbians. After we purchased the tickets, we got in the concession line. Vanessa again took my hand.

Becky kept looking around, "Why don't you two go get us seats and I'll bring the snacks."

I did not want to leave her side. I could see she was concerned. However, I could not shake the notion that everyone was looking at me. Being under the bright lobby lights made me feel exposed; I knew any second I would be discovered. "Are you sure?"

Vanessa did not mind dumping Becky, "Okay, thanks." She tugged my hand, "Let's go."

As Vanessa and I headed for the theater, I glanced over my left shoulder. I saw Becky watching us. It was comforting knowing she was looking after me. I saw the two boys in the line next to Becky. They were watching me. I quickly turned around when the frumpy boy liked is lips.

"Hey Becky," Amanda called. "Becky," Amanda said as she approached. She liked what Becky had done with her hair.

Becky watched Amanda, Sammie (Samantha), and Cathy walk up to Bobbie Sue. He was unaware of her friends approaching.

A hand touched my right arm. "Hey Becky, is that your new look?"

I turned to see who was touching me and came face to face with one of Becky's friends. I froze, my mind going blank from the shock of being discovered. Vanessa squeezed my hand.

"Sorry. I thought you were someone else." Amanda's speech slowed down as she studied my face. She then looked at Vanessa. "You're Vanessa," I could see that she was trying to remember Vanessa's last name, "Becky Strikler's neighbor."

"Yes," Vanessa said softly. She was struck with a feeing of dread, for Bobby did not deserve to be humiliated.

My heart stopped beating, but my head was pounding.

Cathy put her hand over her mouth, "Oh my God." She tried not to laugh. Vanessa gave Cathy a nasty look. Amanda looked at me. Cathy nudged Amanda. I looked back at Becky. Amanda looked to where I was looking, then back at me, "You must be Becky's little..." Cathy was ready to laugh in my face as soon as Amanda spoke the word. I knew that Amanda and Cathy knew that Becky only had a younger brother. I did not know Sammie, or if she knew that Becky only had a little brother. Amanda finished her sentence, "sister."

"I'm Amada. This is Cathy and this is Sammie. We're Becky's friends."

"Hi," was all I could think to say, relieved and thankful that they were not making a public seen.

"Hi," Sammie said.

I felt Sammie did not know what Cathy found funny.

"Hi," Cathy wanted to have fun, "That's a really cute outfit - you're – wearing."

Vanessa could hear the slight mock in Cathy's voice, the way she emphasized 'you're.' She felt that it was her duty to protect and stand up for her date. When Amanda saw Vanessa's posture change, she wanted to avoid Cathy and Vanessa creating a commotion. Amanda elbowed Cathy then stated, "I'm sorry, I feel stupid, but I can't remember your name."

Cathy looked at Amanda, "its Bobbie."

"Bobbie Sue," Vanessa corrected.

I wanted to vanish out of existence when I heard Vanessa tell them I had a girl's name. It was apparent to Sammie that Cathy and Vanessa did not like each other.

"Bobbie Sue," Amanda's voice was pleasant and accepting.

"Where is Becky?" Cathy asked.

"She's getting snacks," I said glancing back at the concession stand, wishing that Becky was by my side.

Amanda looked in the direction that Bobbie Sue had indicated. Cathy and Sammie continued to look at Bobbie Sue. Cathy was too intrigued with the boy dressed like a girl to be distracted. She studied him from head to toe. She felt she would never be able to tell that there was a boy under the make-up and skirt. He made a pretty girl. Sammie stood looking at Bobbie Sue

Vanessa was still glaring at Cathy; ready to deal with her if she opened her big fat mouth. The two boys from the ticket line walked past. I saw them eye me. The boy in the striped shirt looked into my eyes and smiled. The frumpy boy looked at my breasts then ran his eyes down to my ass and back up to my breast. He made a double clicking sound then said "Damn." I was repulsed by his actions. I thought, 'What a pig.'

Cathy saw Bobbie Sue eyeing the boys walking past. She checked-out the boys; one was cute, the other was a slob. Both were too young for her, but she thought it was darling that the pretty girly-boy had admirers. She made eye contact with the cute boy in the striped shirt. She gave him a wicked smile, and then said, "Hi." Then she glanced down at his ass.

Cathy's actions embarrassed me.

I could see the cute boy felt teased. The frumpy boy glanced over his shoulder back at us. "Damn," he said aloud.

The cute boy looked at his friend, "Can you like, keep it to yourself."

"What do you care what those bitches think," he said loud enough for us to hear.

Amanda saw Becky signal her, I'll be there in a minute. Amanda waved back, and then she turned to me, "So, what movie are you seeing?"

"Mean Girl," I told them.

Cathy spoke, "That's what we're seeing. We can sit together."

Amanda and Sammie looked at Cathy.

"Yeah, sure, that will be fun," Amanda stated.

"Ah," I muttered, not sure what to say.

"We sit up front," Vanessa said knowing that the junior high girls sat in the front and the 'in' high school girls always sat in the back of the theater.

"Oh." Cathy wanted to observe the girly-boy, but she was not curious enough to sit with the little kids.

Becky walked up to us caring the drinks and popcorn. I took my drink. Vanessa took her drink and the popcorn. It was odd, but I felt better with her being by my side.

Becky thought she had Bobbie Sue's humiliation all planned. She never expected she would feel regret and guilt. "Hi," Becky was not sure what was said, or if she needed to explain Bobbie Sue. "I have a couple tag-along."

"I thought Bobbie Sue was you. You two are starting to look like twins," Amanda said.

"Like, yeah, your sister has really developed," Cathy joked. "I don't remember her being so full."

Amanda and Sammie were taken back by how cruel Cathy was being to Bobbie Sue. Sammie thought of telling Cathy too leave the girl alone. Amanda thought, 'you bitch can't you tell he is scared.' To much of Becky's surprise she became irritated at the way Cathy was teasing Bobbie Sue. She had to refrain from giving a response that would draw further attention to Bobby.

"Is she packing tissue, it looks like she is wearing your bra." Cathy snickered.

Becky could not control her anger any longer, "You got a big mouth." All the girls heard the challenge in Becky's voice. I was grateful that she was there; I knew the girls respected and feared Becky. There was something about her that made her a good loyal friend, even if she had a quick temper. It was not a big surprise to us that she had hit that boy with her book the other day.

Cathy looked at Becky, and then at me, "Bobbie Sue you know I was just joking around."

I could see that Cathy was backpedaling. I wanted to move on, "I know; the truth is without a purse I didn't have any other place to stuff my tissues." I held my hands out showing I did not have a purse, and then grinned.

The girls giggled.

Sammie decided she liked Bobbie Sue. Since moving into town, Sammie had not made many friends. She befriended Amanda the day she moved in the neighborhood. She found Amanda polite, but not a push over. She liked Becky, but like the others, she was afraid of her temper. Cathy, she thought had a crappy personality and a big mouth. Sammie thought Bobbie Sue was quiet but witty, qualities she liked. She was not sure about Vanessa.

"We better get our seats," Amanda stated.

We walked into the theater. Vanessa and I started to head down to the front. Sammie grabbed my arm, "Why don't you two sit back here with us. You don't want to sit with the little kids."

I looked at Vanessa, "Do you want to sit in the back?"

Vanessa thought, 'what the hell this date sucks,' "We can if you want."

I did not want to choose. I had hoped that Vanessa would determine what we were doing.

Vanessa sensed my dilemma, "We can sit in the back."

Sammie went in first followed by Amanda, Cathy, Becky, Vanessa and me. The two boys from earlier walked into the theater. They slowly walked to the front searching the rows. Then they walked across the front and up the other aisle; searching. When they got near the top, they found what they were looking for and realized they had wasted their time. The cute girl was sitting with her older sister and friends, dejected they walked out of the theater.

Sammie leaned forward and spoke to me, "I think you have admires, the one is cute."

"Yeah, should I fetch him back? Maybe you two can suck face?" Cathy was the only one who laughed at her joke.

"Do you want to move up front?" Vanessa asked.

I wanted to toss my drink on Cathy, "Yeah, lets."

"We're going down front," I whispered to Becky.

Becky felt nervous about Bobbie Sue leaving. "Okay," She could not believe how protective she was becoming.

Amanda and Sammie knew Vanessa and Bobbie Sue were moving because of Cathy's big mouth. Amanda nudged Cathy to go to the toilet room with her, telling the others they would be right back. After they left, Sammie changed seats to sit next to Becky.

"I like your sister; she has a good sense of humor."

"Thanks." Becky was glad that Bobbie Sue was being accepted.

"Does she have a boy friend?"

"Ah, no," Becky did not think Sammie would understand that Vanessa was Bobbie Sue's beau.

The old guy sitting in front of the girls turned around and gave the two of them an angry look. It annoyed Becky when old people did that.

Sammie lowered her voice, "Since we moved here my brother has not had much luck making friends."

Becky wanted to tell her it was because her brother was an over weight, out of shape computer nerd. "I'm not surprised."

Sammie was slighted by the comment, Tommy is quiet, but a good kid.

"He's so shy," Becky added not wanting Sammie to be offended.

"He has always been quiet, but ever since we moved he has become ultra quiet." Sammie did not want to sound like she was making excuses for him. He could be funny, once he felt at ease.

"Moving can be tough," Becky was not in the mood to discuss Sammie's brother's problems.

The old guy turned his head again. Becky gave him a dirty look. The old guy turned back around and whispered to wife. The wife turned and looked at them. Becky was going to kick the back of the old guy's seat but became distracted by Cathy's comment.

"I was thinking maybe Bobbie Sue and Tommy could go on a date." Sammie looked at Becky, "A blind date. We would have to fix them up; Tommy would never have the nerve to call a girl he didn't know."

Becky's first thought was, 'my little sister isn't going out with your dorky brother.' Then she thought of what could really happen. Not that she thought the dork would ever try to kiss Bobbie Sue. He would probably piss himself first.

"I have to tell you my Mom is strict. Bobbie Sue has never been on a date. Hell, she wasn't allowed to wear make-up until this week."

Amanda and Cathy walked out of the theater. Cathy let out the laughter she had been suppressing, "Can you believe that?"

Amanda jabbed Cathy to keep her quiet, she could not believe how insensitive Cathy was, "What is you problem?"

"You're telling me you don't find him funny," Cathy often found Amanda's serious attitude annoying.

"That's Becky's brother you're laughing at. I thought she was your best friend."

"She is. He's not." Cathy did not understand why she had to defend her actions, "Becky can't stand him. She is always making fun of him."

"If you had a brother or sister you would understand," Amanda knew Cathy could never truly understand. "You saw the look Becky gave you when you made fun of him. If you didn't quit she would have decked you."

Cathy knew Amanda was right. Becky had given her that - I'll kick your ass look, "Okay. I get it."

They stood in silence for a moment, "I know what you said, but don't you find it funny?" Cathy wanted to be right. Amanda rolled her eyes in frustration.

I wanted to slouch in the seat and put my feet up on the back of the seat in front of me. However, sitting like that would expose my panties, which I did not want to happen. So, I sat up and crossed my right leg over my left. Finding that position uncomfortable, I uncrossed my legs, then crossed my ankles. I tried to adjust my position so that my ankles were under the seat. That position also was uncomfortable. So, I adjusted myself crossing my left leg over my right.

Vanessa glanced down at his smooth legs. She then let her eyes follow his legs to his skirt Vanessa liked the way he was sitting, so she rested her hand on his knee.

I took Vanessa's hand on my leg as a jester for me to sit still. That is what Mom had always done when I became fidgety in church. Vanessa then slid her hand down my leg to just above my skirt, letting it rest on my inner thigh. Mom never did that.

The theater went dark when the movie started. Vanessa was subtle in the way she caressed my inner thigh with her finger tips. I had never before felt the way I did at that moment. I started to become aroused by her touch. I thought of spreading my legs slightly, so that maybe Vanessa would slide her hand down farther. The thought alarmed me. I took her hand in mine to stop her caressing.

Vanessa was disappointed when Bobbie Sue took her hand. She found his legs very smooth and sexy. She hoped that she would be able to tease him enough that he would become vulnerable. She had desires. She felt Bobbie Sue had the same desires. She just had to coax him along.

Amanda and Cathy returned to their seats. Seeing that Bobbie Sue had moved they discussed moving. Becky stopped them. She did not tell them the truth; that Vanessa and Bobbie Sue wanted to be alone. She made a comment about not wanting to sit with the little kids; which there was a group of giggly middle-school girls along the front row. During the movie Becky constantly checked on her little sister, especially when there was movement in front

When the movie ended, the girls waited for Vanessa and Bobbie Sue just outside the theater doors. They scoped out the cute boys leaving the theater. Becky disliked the boys who checked her out while walking with their date.

"Hey, what are you doing tomorrow?" Cathy asked.

Becky looked at the two of them, "My Aunt Monica is coming into town, to take us shopping for Bobby's birthday."

"I love your Aunt. I wish she was my aunt." Cathy had always felt deprived. She has no aunts or uncles, only grandparents that she rarely sees. "So what does Bobbie Sue want for her birthday?" Cathy tried not to sound sneering.

"I'm not sure," Becky told them. She thought about telling them about the pink baby doll nightgown she had purchased, but thought it best to be quiet.

"Is she having a party?" Amanda asked. "Maybe we should throw her one, a small one, just us."

Becky looked at her friends, "Thanks, but that isn't necessary."

She was glad that her plan for Bobby to be ridiculed by her friends and utterly embarrassed had failed. She regretted ever conceiving the plan. She felt she should have known that her friends would never hurt her brother.

"Maybe we could have it at my house," Sammie stated. "We could use the game room. I'm sure Mom would be fine with it."

Becky was leery of the offer. She distrusted rich kids. And from what she heard about Sammie, she was mega rich; living in a mansion on the golf course. Amanda lived in a big house in the same neighborhood, but not in a mansion overlooking a hole. Besides, Amanda had proven she was not a shit-head like the other rich kids; like the ones on the golf course. She also suspected Sammie had an ulterior motive; possibly having her brother meet Bobbie Sue.

"My dad just had a huge flat panel TV installed. It takes up most of the wall. It's like being at the movies." Sammie was getting excited about having friends over. "Or, I could ask my Dad to open up the pool house. It's to cold to swim, but we can still wear our swim suites to soak in the hot tub, and I can ask my Dad to move the tanning bed into the pool house."

Vanessa and I walked out of the theater holding hands. When I saw Becky and her friends, I quickly pulled my hand away. I did not want them to know that I was sweet on Vanessa. I was an immature teenager with normal teenager thoughts, like being embarrassed about having a girlfriend.

"Hey you two," Becky said, avoiding Sammie's invitation.

"You didn't need to wait," Vanessa stated. She wished Becky and her friends would go away. She wanted an opportunity to kiss Bobbie Sue. She had spent the last two hours thinking about kissing him; resisting the urges to kiss him in the theater.

"Did you call Mom?" I asked.

"Not yet. I'll do it when we're outside," Becky was being pleasant.

"I need to use the bathroom before we leave," Sammie stated.

"So do I," I stated. "I drank to much soda."

"I'll go with you," Vanessa told me.

Her words had me realize my predicament. I could not use the men's toilet room the way I was dressed, and I was not going into the girl's toilet room, "Actually I can wait."

"Don't be silly; we have time," Becky told me, "I'll go with you."

Having Becky by his side made me feel better. Plus, I did not think I could wait until we were home, "OK."

The girls discussed the movie while we walked. They commented on the outfits in the movie. I pondered the concept of just rewards. Sammie being the new kid empathized with the main character. Vanessa was quiet. When I entered the girl's rest room, I wondered who I was. What I was. I felt I was a pervert. I could not deny that I found cross dressing exciting. I also knew the feelings I was having for Vanessa were normal feelings a boy would have for a girl. I did not think of myself as a girl, but I had moments were I wonder what it would be like to be a girl. These were thoughts and feelings I felt a normal boy would never have.

"What do you think about the party idea?" Sammie stated when we entered the bathroom.

I walked in slowly, cautious not to see something I was not supposed to see. Being my first time in a girl's toilet room, I found it bigger and cleaner than the men's. It diffidently smelled fresher. The room was very noisy with all the girls talking. That was new for me; guys rarely talk to each other in the men's room.

"What party?" Vanessa was curious.

"I was telling the others that we could have a small birthday party for Bobbie Sue at my house. We can all get in our swim suites and soak in the hot tub. Mom could call out for pizza. We could watch a movie." Sammie was selling the idea. She did not understand Becky's and Vanessa's reluctance. She thought they would jump at the opportunity to get away from the crappy trailer park.

Vanessa looked at Bobbie Sue. The idea of seeing him in a bikini and soaking with him in the hot tub was erotic. She got an image of him walking away from her in a red string bikini. She imagined how sexy his bottom would look covered by the small triangular shaped red cloth. Vanessa imagined Bobbie Sue turning his head looking over his shoulder giving her a teasing look while flipping his hair. She wondered why she kept having erotic images of Bobbie Sue.

I looked to Becky for help. Since I did not know Sammie, I did not know if she knew me. Even if she did know me, I still did not want to party with any of Becky's friends. I got the feeling that the night was a huge mistake. I should have never let Becky talk me into conning Mom into letting us go to the movies. This was all Becky's fault and she needed to fix things.

"Like I said before, our Mom is strict. She doesn't like us to go to parties. She is weird that way." Becky told Sammie, "Especially if there is going to be a boy there."

The mention of a boy got my attention.

Sammie looked at me, "My brother Tommy; you may have seen him around school."

I looked at her questioning, "I don't know your last name."

"Rist, without the W," It was habit for Sammie to tell people her last name that way.

I had seen Tommy Rist in school. It was hard for me to believe that Sammie and Tommy were sister and brother. He was a tall fat kid and very quiet. I did not remember ever seeing him talking to anyone. "Ah, I think I have seen him around, he's kind of quiet." I then felt like I needed to explain why we were not friends, "We're not in any classes together."

Sammie felt the need to be honest. "That was one reason I thought we could have the party at my house. It would give Tommy an opportunity to meet you and Vanessa, and then maybe later he would meet some of your friends." She hoped that Tommy would never find out she begged kids to be his friend, "This move has been hard on him."

Being trailer trash, an outsider, I understood Tommy's alienation. I did not know how to tell Sammie that my circle of friends was with me. Vanessa was it, I had no other friends. The thought of what would happen when Sammie asked Tommy if he knew 'Bobby Strickler' brought on a feeling of looming trouble? Tommy would say 'I don't know him, but I've seen him around.' She would then know what I am. I needed to escape. I slipped into a stall to think and hide. After shutting the door, I checked to see if anyone could see through the crack. I was filled with confusion and fear.

I still needed to relieve myself. I didn't know if I should hike my skirt up to my waist or let it drop to my ankles. I realized I was standing facing the toilet. Fearful of being discovered, I quickly turned around, pulled my skirt up, and sat down pushing my panties down to my knees. It felt good to relieve my bladder. I noticed my panties had a wet stain. It was Vanessa's fault; she kept caressing my leg during the movie. She made me horny. I shouldn't put the entire blame on her; I didn't stop her. The entire experience was exhilarating.

"Hey, you Okay?" Vanessa asked, standing at the stall door.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I flushed, and then opened the stall door, still straightening my skirt as I walked out.

Cathy looked at me and asked, "So, is the party a go? Are we all going to get in our bikinis and soak in the hot tub; maybe lay in the tanning bed?" She looked like she was going to laugh, "Do have a bikini?"

I tried to ignore her while washing my hands. I looked at her reflection in the mirror. She was proud of herself. She thought she was clever. I wanted to shove her head in the toilet, but I continued to wash my hands.

"We better get going," Becky announced giving Cathy a threatening look.

"My Mom is probably waiting for us," Amanda stated.

"So, are you guys coming over?" Sammie asked again.

"We'll have to ask, but I doubt Mom will say yes," Becky told her.

Vanessa handed me a paper towel. That was the cue for us to leave. We walked out of the theater in a group, Vanessa and I in front of the others. Becky called Mom. Amanda's Mom was parked out front waiting. We all said good-bye. As Cathy got in the car she glanced over at me and snickered. Then I saw her glance to my left at the two boys standing there. When I looked over, the neatly dressed boy smiled. As Amada's Mom pulled away, I turned my back to the boys, while Vanessa and Becky looked their way.

"Jerks," I heard Vanessa mutter.

"I think the one has the hots for you," Becky stated.

I wanted to leave, "Let's go to the ice cream shop."

"We should give them something to gawk at," Vanessa told me.

I turned to her, "What?"

"We should kiss," She said stepping closer.

I stood still.

"That would be rad," Becky stated.

Vanessa put her hands on my waist. I wanted her to kiss me but I was afraid, "I don't know."

Becky told Vanessa, "Do it."

Vanessa wrapped her arms around my waist and kissed me. I don't think it was a smart thing for me to do, but I kissed her back. I heard the one boy holler, "damn," while other kids laugh.

Sammie happened to look back just as Bobbie and Vanessa kissed. She fascinated with their kiss. She knew that Bobbie Sue was not the girl for her brother. She wondered how they found each other. She became jealous.

Since we were busy kissing, I did not see the car pull up. Becky recognized Aunt Monica's white Volvo, but she didn't say anything until Aunt Monica sounded the horn. "Our ride is here," she told us.

We jerked apart. I looked over and saw Mom smiling. She had been watching us out the passenger window. I blushed and gently pushed Vanessa away. Vanessa understood; she also was embarrassed. I straightened my skirt while thinking about what I was going to tell Aunt Monica. She was never supposed to know about my wearing Becky's clothes. Nobody was ever supposed to know, but soon I felt everybody was going to know. Becky opened the back door. Again, I was stuck in the middle between Vanessa and Becky.

Aunt Monica looked back at me, "You're looking very pretty."

She kept studying me. I crossed my legs and adjusted my skirt. "Thanks," I said it hoping she would quit staring at me. Instead she smiled, which made me uncomfortable. I started to fidget with my hair, wrapping it around my finger. Realizing what I was doing and feeling self-conscious about playing with my hair like a girl, I put my hands on my lap. Embarrassed and ashamed I looked down at my hands.

Aunt Monica finally turned around and drove the car away. As the car pulled away, I glanced out the side window. The cute boy waved to me, while the slob grabbed his crotch and jerked his hand up. I guess Vanessa thought I was looking to her because she rested her hand on mine.

Becky, Mom and Monica talked about Becky's prom dress. Becky then told how she got suspended. Aunt Monica told Becky she had done the right thing and she would represent her if it goes to court. I was surprised that Aunt Monica did not mention suing the school and Jimmy Smith's parents. Aunt Monica had her own law practice. She was always talking about her law suites. We were a few minutes away from home when the conversation switched to me. I had been dreading the moment.

"Bobbie Sue," Aunt Monica looked at me through the rear-view mirror, "I decided to take you shopping tomorrow, my treat for your birthday. I have it all planned out."

"Don't spoil him to much," Mom told her.

"Becky, you'll be coming with us," Monica added.

"Thanks Aunt Monica, you're the best," Becky grabbed my knee, then told us what we all knew, "I love going shopping."

I didn't want to go shopping. I was thinking of a way to get out of shopping when Mom turned around and gestured for me to thank Monica. I wished we were alone so I could talk to her. But, I could see Mom was getting annoyed with me.

"Thanks Aunt Monica. It sounds like fun." I tried my best to sound grateful.

Aunt Monica looked at me through the rear view mirror, "It will be fun."

To Be Continued.
