If your looking for a story with strong sexual activity in it, this is not the one for you. Although there will be some sexual expressions made, they will be of an "educational" level. However, I must emphasize that this is an adult story and the reader must be at least 18 years old. This is a story of a mother's love for her child and her unorthodox way of assuring her child learns the lessons of respect for others and how her child unexpectedly responds to her methods. This story is one with a strong transgender and transsexual nature. This is not a sequel to the "Saga of Joe Bates".

However, I have use some of that author's characters and references to support this story. My story line will only use these characters as necessary to support this story and it's conclusion. This re-write contains the entire story including the long promised Part 2.

Shawnlea

by Donna Allyson

Book 2

Chapter 1

Karen's mom had answered the phone and after giving her the message from Kathleen and passing a few pleasantries, Shawnlea hung up the phone and went to the front door. Karen only lived across the street and she had walked over in the time Shawnlea was on the phone with her mom.

Shawnlea opened the door just as the bell rang. Karen had a 'huge' smile on her face. She did an 'exaggerated curtsy.

"Is the Lady of the house at home?" Asked Karen as she looked at the girl who answered the door.

"Come on Kevin. Knock off the curtsy stuff. Will you?"

Shawnlea's reference to Kevin instead of Karen was not lost on her.

"You better get used to it Shawn. Sister Angelica is quite insistent that you learn to do curtsies well. You'll be doing a lot of them today.

"Great. Just great." Replied Shawnlea, a hint of disgust evident in her voice at the thought of having to do such a feminine act. "Come on in."

"I like the pigtails." Shawnlea said in mock sternness as Karen entered the foyer. "I like the pretty bow in your hair too. Replied Karen.

"My Mom's idea. I could have done without it." Said Shawnlea.

"It looks pretty with your school uniform.." Said Karen.

"Yeah. But I would like to see it on Vince Bolling." Replied Shawnlea seriously.

(Thinking of the confrontation after church the day before.)

If Tracy has her way, it might just be more than a bow that he will get."

Shawnlea looked at her friend for a moment then smiled.

Both 'girls' started to laugh.

Kathleen had just finished giving Frances her breakfast and had stopped just inside the doorway as she heard the conversation between Shawnlea and Karen. She had not realized that there had been an episode between her 'daughter' and the Bolling boy. Obviously the kids had handled it between themselves but regardless, she would talk to Shawnlea about it later. Now was not the time.

Frances had just gotten up from the table and she watched as the little girl rinsed out her bowl and glass in the sink being careful not to get anything on her yellow sun-dress.

"Frances, go into the living room and tell Shawnlea and Karen that it is time to leave. Tell Shawnlea to take the two new white cardigan sweaters from the foyer closet. There is one for her and one for Karen.. It may be cool today. Also tell the girls it is time to leave."

Yes mother. Replied Frances. With that the little girl scampered out of the kitchen. Kathleen picked up the phone and dialed Janet's number.

"Hello."

"Hi Janet. I'll be right over with Frances.

That's okay Kathy. I was about to walk over and collect her.

It will save you a few minutes.

"Thanks hon. Your a lifesaver. I am running a little late.

"Not a problem Kathy. I'm on my way.

Kathleen walked into the living room to retrieve her purse and inwardly smiled when she saw the children.

Shawnlea and Karen in their new school uniforms and wearing their white front buttoned cardigans were sitting on the sofa with little Frances between them. Frances was holding a hand of each of the older 'girls'.

'Right out of 'Little Women." Kathleen thought.

She hated to break up the scene but it was time to go.

Janet walked in to the house without knocking and also observed the scene.

"They really look cute." She whispered into Kathleen's ear.

Kathleen just turned to face her friend and they both smiled and said nothing more.

"Lets go girls, Time to go. Kathy announced.

Ten minutes later Kathy turned her car into the expansive driveway of St. Mary's School. As she approached the main entrance. She saw that Matt's van was already there. Matt and Sister Angelica were engaged in a conversation.

Tracy, Lisa and Kelly were sitting on a bench on the lawn Sister Gertrude was standing off to the side keeping an 'eagle's eye' on the three girls. They waved as they saw Kathy's car pull up.

"Good Morning Mrs. O'Malley," said Sister Angelica as Kathy Got out of the car.

"Have the girls join the others. I need a couple of words with you first.

"Good Morning Sister. Certainly. Hi Matt. Said Kathy.

Kathy ushered the two girls out of the car and watched as Karen grabbed Shawnlea by the hand and almost dragged her over to where the other girls were waiting.

Kathleen turned and walked up the steps to where the Nun and Matt were standing.

Sister Angelica reached out to take Kathleen's hand in hers, "Thank you for being so prompt Kathy, the girls and I have a lot to do today. Mr. Williams was so kind as to pick up Tracy and Kelly early.

It was no problem at all Sister. Those girls seem to be inseparable anyway. "Kathleen I have to get to the office early, Can I call on you tonight?" Asked Matt.

"Certainly Matt. "Around 7:30?" Replied Kathy.

"Okay I'll see you then. Good day Sister." replied Matt as he turned to leave.

'Good day Mr. Williams. The girls will be ready for pickup at five o'clock."

"Sister Angelica looked at Matt and then at Kathleen. The nun was quite astute at judging situations between people. She smiled as she formed an opinion as to meaning of the exchange of words and body language that had passed between the two.

"A nice gentleman he is." Said the nun passively.

He sure is said Kathy in reply. Smiling at the nun.

Sister Angelica smiled also and just nodded her head in understanding.

"As for Shawn, how has he been adjusting to his new role?"

Asked Sister Angelica.

"Not as bad as I thought he would Sister. he has rebelled a little but then he seems to fall into the role nicely for awhile. He has withdrawn a little since he was recognized by the Bolling boy at church yesterday. Some words were exchanged between Shawnlea and Vince and the Shawnlea ran out to the car crying." I guess Tracy confronted Vince about what he had said and apparently Tracy convinced the boy to back off somehow.

"Knowing Tracy, She probably said something to the boy to scare him witless."

Said the Sister as an aside.

The girls have been silent on what happened and I saw no need to push the issue." Kathy concluded.

"Hum, I will look into this discretely Kathy. I need to talk to Vince and his parents about this and a few other matters as well. He is getting really out of hand lately Thank you for letting me know about this. In and of itself, it is nothing. But with the "special program I have here I have to be very careful." Said the nun seriously.

Anyway, Matt will be here at five to collect his "girls", can you pick up yours by six o'clock?"

"Certainly Sister. And thank you again for letting Shawn into this program.

I don't know what else I would have done with him short of a Military School.

Said Kathy.

'Kathy I am glad Shawnlea is here too. Believe me, she will get just as much discipline here as at the other place, only it will be presented much differently. Now off with you before your late for work. Besides, Sister Gertrude and I have a lot to do today. "Said the nun.

Kathy took the nun's hand and squeezed it gently. "Thank you." was all she said and turned and ran down the steps to her car. She waved at the girl's still out on the lawn, and then got in her car and drove down the long driveway and out of sight.

As Kathy's car pulled out of the driveway, Sister Gertrude glanced over at Sister Angelica. The Older nun nodded her head and Sister Gertrude rounded up her charges and escorted them towards the chapel.

The two weeks passed swiftly. Shawnlea had little time to reflect on her situation. her time with the help of her friends was taken up with learning much of the basics in the school's routine. From the morning chapel prayers to lessons in cooking, sewing, manners and feminine grace and charm. Being with her new friends and having them as guides and for support actually made the time fly by and was actually enjoyable.

As mid August past, the hot days of summer seemed to make Greenwood become during the day almost as quiet as night. Children as a rule would find shelter from the heat indoors, where air conditioning was provided almost everywhere. It was only in the evening the children and even most adults would exit to the outdoors when the temperature became more tolerable. Families would get together at this time to socialize. Outdoor barbecues beside the pool was a common practice. It was on Saturday evening the week after Shawnlea's two week orientation that everyone got together at Matt Williams home for a pool party and barbecue.

When Kathleen parked the car in the driveway at Matt's house She barely got the car stopped before both Shawnlea and Frances were out the door and running towards the pool and the collection of kids assembled by the pool side. She watched her older 'daughter' and sighed with relief and contentment. Her plan had worked out quite nicely. She thought. The school year had not even started and already very little trace of the old Shawn could be seen. Kathleen wondered about this relative ease with which Shawn had slipped into the role of Shawnlea. She needed some advise as to why this had occurred so rapidly and without Shawn putting up much of a fight. She remembered a conversation with her boss Jo-Ellen and her reference to some doctor that she knew that was an expert in such matters. She decided to have a talk with Jo-Ellen on Monday at work.

Kathleen came out of her daydream as Matt walked across the lawn with his barbecue apron around his waist and a waving a huge spatula over his head. He was such a handsome man she thought. She felt warm and fuzzy every time she was around him. She knew what the meant. Not since Frank had passed away had she felt this way "If only..." She left the words unsaid as Matt came up to her.

"Hi Kathy, You look lovely as usual." Matt said.

"Why thank you kind sir." Kathleen said with a smile. "Your a flatterer for sure."

"I hope you brought a bathing suit. The water is perfect"

"Yes I did. I really need a relaxing swim later. It is just what I need after the past few weeks.

"How is Shawnlea adjusting? He seems to be doing quite well to me.

"Strange you should ask Matt. I was just thinking the same thing. This started out as a punishment for his behavior and a lesson in respect. But, it seems like he actually likes this new role. I am worried that I may be making a mistake." Kathleen said as they walked across the lawn towards the pool.

Matt stopped at his comment and looked Kathleen directly in the eyes He put his hand gently on Kathleen's wrist.

"Or maybe he is really a girl inside and it is just coming out now that he has been put in a position to express himself freely."

"No... I don't think that is..." Kathleen halted her statement as she looked over at Shawn. He was so cute in his new pink and white bathing suit. His ponytail flying in the breeze as he played water tag in the pool with the other girls.

Matt noticed this distraction. "Really? He asked seriously. "Are you sure of that?"

Kathleen shed a tear in the corner of her eye and Matt gently wiped it away.

"Give it time dear. I am sure that this is the right thing to do. Now come on, lets eat and swim and have some fun." Matt said changing the mood.

Matt's comment of endearment was not lost on Kathy. She smiled and took his arm as they continued over to the pool.

Janet was ensconced in one of the lawn chairs next to the pool where she could keep a close eye on the girls in the water.. She waved as Kathy and Matt crossed the lawn and came towards where she was seated

Matt left the two women together while he resumed the role of manning the grill.

Kathy smiled at her friend as she sat in the recliner next to her.

"Hi Janet. I see the kids are turning into fish ." She said weakly

Janet was a astute woman and she immediately noticed the Kathy seemed withdrawn.

"Is something wrong Kathy? You don't seem to be your usual cheerful self.

Janet asked. Obvious concern in her voice.

"No, no. What makes you think that?" Kathy asked feigning surprise.

"Come on Kathy. I'm your friend and I know you like a book. You seem like you are carrying the world on your shoulders. What's wrong?"

'Oh Janet. It's Shawn. I really don't know if I am doing the right thing. Look at him. He is becoming more like a girl everyday. He doesn't fight me anymore. For that matter he never really did give me much opposition to this forced feminization thing. It is as though he actually likes being treated like a girl. I thought I was punishing him but he seems to have taken it as though I had done him a favor.

Janet looked over at 'girls' in the pool. Shawnlea, and the other girls were playing a toss ball game in the shallow end of the pool. The squeals and laughter were typical of any bunch of girls when they were playing together. There was hardly any resemblance to that roughness that accompanied male play.

Janet turned to her friend. :Look at them Kathy. Do you see any boys there?" I see just four young girls who are having fun with each other. Four girls, three of which have a unique thing in common that seems to bind them closer together than most friends. If there was any maleness left in any one of them I don't think we would be seeing what we see now. "

"I know that Janet. It's just that I feel that I did this to Shawn. I feel as though I'm robbing my son of his masculinity." Kathy said. Holding back a small sob.

A tear forming in her eye.

"Or maybe you gave him what he really wanted. Just like Kevin and Tracy. It could be that he recognized in them his same feelings. Janet replied gently.

Kathy pondered this for a few moments. "Do you really think so?" She asked her friend. A slight smile appearing on her face.

"Hey, what's all the doom and gloom over here?" ask Matt as he approached the women, Hamburgers in hand.

"Yes really." Janet whispered so that Matt could not hear.

"Oh nothing. Just us women gossiping." Replied Janet.

"Yeah, well lets stop the gossip. Eat. Matt said lightly. He knew that something was not quite right but he had the foresight not to press the issue.

Kathy seemed to perk up after her conversation with Janet. The rest of the evening went smoothly. Janet noticed that Kathy and Matt seemed to spend most of the evening together. At one point she caught a glimpse of them holding hands when they thought no one was watching. Janet smiled. She hoped for Kathy's sake that this would blossom into something more. Matt was a good catch and Kathy really needed someone else in her life. Janet made a point to be pool watcher the rest of the evening to give the couple more time alone.

On the Saturday before school started Karen invited Shawnlea, Tracy, Lisa and

Frances to her house for a final sleepover before school started. After the kids had gone, Matt took Kathy to Phoenix for a evening together. It was during dinner that

Kathy told him about her concerns as to what she was doing to Shawn. She poured out her reservations about how she thought she may have made a mistake. She told him how Shawn was rapidly becoming a girl in both looks and demeanor. it was as if Shawn really wanted to become a girl. A real one. She had remarked Matt was a good listener and let her get it all out without interruption.

When Kathy had finished Matt placed his hand on hers. She did not pull it away

"Kathy, I want to tell you about Tracy. When I'm finished, You tell me if you still think your wrong. Or even if Shawn is. Okay?" Matt asked.

"But, but... " Kathy stammered. "It's not the same."

"Oh? Let me tell you our story and then you tell me that it's not." Matt countered gently.

For the next hour Matt told Kathy about his own experience with his son, Tracy.

He told her about Tracy's rebellious nature after the loss of his mother.

It was a shock to Matt when he came home one afternoon to find Tracy dressed in some of his mother's clothes and wearing one of the wigs that had been his wife's. Matt had taken Tracy to a child psychologist. Several visits later, It had been determined that Tracy suffered from Gender Dysphoria. As a result, Matt had Tracy see a specialist in that field. The conclusions came back the same. Tracy was in actually it was determined, a girl in a boy's body. It had been the loss of his mother and the absence of any feminine influence in the home that had triggered Tracy's demand for it. Acting the part of a girl, even in secret returned to him that emotion that he, or more rightly she demanded.

At the advise of the experts, Matt had let Tracy seek her own identity. The result was that Tracy the girl emerged. Matt had let this develop and Tracy had become a beautiful child. Physically and spiritually. Tracy had just recently asked about surgery to make her a real girl. Matt had promised to consider it.

"There is a lot more to this story Kathy but the bottom line is that I have decided to let Tracy be what she wants. If that is to have the surgery then I will let her do it." Matt concluded.

"I understand what is at issue here with Tracy and yourself Matt. But what has that got to do with Shawn. I never caught him wearing dresses or anything like that before now. This whole thing was to teach him discipline and manners.

"You don't think there is any similarity Kathy? Did you consider that Shawn might have tried to mask his desires and needs to be feminine by putting on the a false front of masculine belligerence? Your putting him in dresses might have been just what he wanted, subconsciously. Now he may be reacting normally to his real desires without reservation because it is expected? Matt asked sincerely.

Kathy looked at Matt for a long time without speaking. She thought about what Matt had just suggested. Finally she replied, "You may be right Matt. I will have to think more about this. I am just not sure.

Let it take it's course for a while longer Kathy. If being a girl is what Shawn really wants, I'm sure he will tell you just like Tracy did with me.

"Okay. I'll give it another couple of months. Kathy said. The un-sureness obvious in her voice.

It was a little after midnight when Matt pulled into Kathy's driveway. For a few moments they just sat in the car. The light over the garage door just barely casting a dim light on the couple. There was an communications between them that did not require verbal exchange. Matt and Kathy looked at one another and then embraced. They kissed. Long and tenderly. The die had been cast.

Kathy? I love you. I have since that first day we met. I think we should get married. Will you be my wife? Matt asked.

"Yes. Oh yes." Kathy replied.

Chapter 2

School started on Tuesday, September second. For all practical purposes it was still summer and like kids everywhere it was hard to get them motivated to the routine of getting up and getting off to school. For Shawnlea however, this day was going to be a totally different experience. She had awoken early. Her stomach reacting to the feeling of 'butterflies'. Not from fear but rather anticipation It was at seven AM that Kathy came into Shawnlea's bedroom wake her up only to find her not only awake but completely dressed. Her hair brushed and light makeup meticulously applied.

"Good morning sweetheart. It looks like you are anxious to get started today. What time did you get up?" Kathy asked with no little surprise. As Shawn she had always had to cajole him out of bed in the morning.

Usually after three tries and threatening him with the cold water treatment.

This was totally out of character for him.

"Good morning Mother. I woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep so I got up and got ready. I think it was around half past five. When I woke up."

"Well come downstairs and have some breakfast. Everything is on the table.

Go ahead and start. While I get your sister up."

Shawnlea got up from the edge of the bed and smoothed out the skirt on her jumper and took one last look in the mirror. She adjusted the ribbon that tied her now long hair back into a ponytail. She picked up the delicate gold crucifix and chain and fastened it around her neck. After a moment she was satisfied as to her appearance. She turned and noticed that Kathleen had been watching her. Shawnlea blushed and gave a weak smile.

"Do I look okay Mother she asked"

"Lovely dear, You did fine."

Kathleen said nothing about the obvious feminine performance. She almost started to cry but instead turned and walked out of the room. Shawn was disappearing fast and Kathleen was still not sure if she was doing the right thing. Even after the talk with Janet and subsequently with Matt. Kathleen was soul searching and needed to make up her mind soon. Did she want another daughter or did she want her son back. That was the big question on her mind. She knew that the decision had to be made soon. This was getting far past the concept of petticoat discipline and into something much more drastic and possibly permanent.

Kathleen dropped Shawnlea and Frances off at St. Mary's and after the obligatory first day routine of getting the children settled into their new classrooms and meeting their teachers, Kathleen headed off for the drive to Honeybone. She was just entering her office when Jo-Ellen Nolan, her boss rang her phone and asked her to come to her office as soon as she was settled in "And bring some coffee." She had asked as she hung up the phone.

Ten minutes later and with two large coffee cups in hand Kathy entered her boss's office.

"Hi Kathy. Sit down and lets chat. I want to tell you a story that may help you." The young looking woman said."

Kathy had read the reports on Jo-Ellen and her history. It was hard to believe that this woman who looked like she was only eighteen on nineteen years old was over thirty and that she had been a male just eighteen months ago.

To Kathy she was the epitome of femininity. Beautiful, married and a mother of twin girls. She had read how this transformation had occurred.

The exposure to some special RF emissions that had altered their genes and turned Joe Bates and his co-workers into genetic females. It was just hard to believe.

Regardless Honeybone had been responsible and had done right by those affected. There was even the reports that had said that the president of the company had volunteered for exposure to the device and had become a woman as well. To Kathy it was an amazing story. By the time Jo-Ellen finished Kathy was overwhelmed. She did not have any idea That Honeybone had actually refined this machine for commercial marketing. That it actually work so completely and without any undue complications. The idea of a transgender machine with programmable age reducing capabilities was unbelievable.

Kathy and Jo-Ellen talked for most of the morning. Kathy told her about her problems with Shawn and how she was now having doubts about her decision to use petticoat disciple along with Sister Angelica's program. She told her how Shawn had responded and that he was starting to act and think like a real girl. Jo-Ellen was a good listener. She let Kathy tell the whole story and what Janet had suggested. Finally Jo-Ellen told her about Dr. Krell and suggested that maybe she along with Matt and Janet have a talk a with him.

Kathy agreed to discuss the matter with Matt and Janet. Kathy agreed that he might be able to help her with Shawn and that Matt and Janet might just get some benefit as well . She agreed to meet with him at least on his next visit to Honeybone.

Jo-Ellen agreed to set up an appointment for them.

Chapter 3

After her mother had left the school, Shawnlea settled into her first day of actual school routine. The two weeks that she had spent here earlier with her friends doing orientation had made the transition much easier and Shawnlea's anxiety had disappeared. It seemed that no one knew, or cared if they did, that he was really a boy under the jumper and panties he was wearing. And even he had to admit that he didn't look anything like a boy. Of course having Karen. Tracy and Lisa in his classes was a big help in putting him at ease.

Kevin had returned to St. Mary's of his own free will and he was a natural as a girl.

He and Tracy had introduced Shawnlea to a lot of the other girls at recess and by the time the end of the day came around Shawnlea felt quite comfortable as a new 'schoolgirl'. The following three months passed uneventfully. Shawnlea fell easily into the school routine. Her grades in academics and conduct by the end of the semester were exceptionally improved over those Shawn had received at Briarwood. None of this was lost on Kathleen. Shawn was gone for all practical purposes except anatomically. Three months in dresses and constant living as a girl had all but assured that Shawnlea would be around for a long time.

On the first day of school, Sister Angelica, true to her word, summoned Vince Bolling to her office. It had been nearly three weeks since the altercation with Shawnlea in the church foyer. Sister Angelica was sure that some of the students were aware of the Special Programs but she much preferred to nip any confrontation between the boys and the 'girls'. It was necessary to maintain as much security for these 'girls' as possible. Not everyone would agree to such methods regardless of what the boys parents thought. It could prove to be quite an awkward situation if the methods used were made public. It was much easier to threaten to put the 'wayward' boy in skirts himself. This usually guaranteed his silence.

Vince stood in the doorway of Sister Angelica's office. None of the boys liked to get called to Sister Angelica's office. It was well known that although she was in charge of the girl's section of the school, she was also the sister that had charge of discipline for the boys as well. She rarely called the boys to her office. She usually left the boys disciple to Sister Agnes. The boys knew that to get called to Sister Angelica's office meant you were in really big trouble. Vince waited to be summoned into her office. He could not for the life of him figure what he had done to get this summons on the first day of school.

Sister Angelica looked up at the boy in the doorway. She gave him a wave of her hand indicating that he was to take a seat in front of her desk. She looked over the rim of her glasses as Vince took the seat.

Vince was nervous. He had never been summoned to Sister Angelica's office before and as she sat and looked at him he wondered what he had done to warrant this attention.

"Mr. Bolling, I have reviewed your performance here at St. Mary's. It shows a remarkably good set of grades. I really don't understand that considering all the mischief you seem to get into. Can you explain why this is so?"

Vince just crawled a little further down into his seat. He could only shrug his shoulders and pretend he didn't understand."

"This for one thing young man. Three fights with other boys during recess just last year alone. And this, Tying strings of tin cans to the pastor's car on the last day of school last June. And the one thing that really upsets me, insulting one of the girls in the church after Mass three weeks ago. Not very Christian of you don't you agree?" Asked Sister Angelica.

For Vince the light went on. "Shawn O'Malley" he said under his breath he had not meant to say his name out loud but he had and Sister Angelica had heard him. Vince noticed the nun's eyes meet his as he mentioned the name

Yes Vince. Shawn O'Malley. Or should I say Shawnlea. I understand you got a severe tongue lashing from Tracy Williams afterwards?

Well Shawn deserved it he was dressed like a girl. So I called him a sissy. "

Vince retorted. Sitting upright in his chair. Trying to remain aloof.

"Vincent, if I told you he is not a sissy then why do you think Shawn would be dressed that way, especially since his mother and sister were right there. The nun asked much more pleasantly.

"Ah, Maybe he is being made to do it by his mother?" Vince replied sheepishly

"Exactly. And by me. He is being taught a lesson in respect and civility.

Something that you might benefit from yourself. The Nun said with a smile.

"No way. Not me. My folks would not allow that to happen. Besides there is no way I would even think of dressing that way."

Well let me tell you something young man. If I ever hear of you bothering any of the my students on this side of the school again. I promise you this, you will find yourself in one of my classes real quick. And don't be fooled. I can and will get your parents permission to put you in dresses too.

Do I make my self absolutely clear. She said sternly.

"Yes Sister. But, but..."

"No buts. Leave Shawnlea and her classmates alone. Period."

"Yes Sister." Was the meek reply. Vince was not sure if she meant what she had said but he was not about to test her. Just the thought of having to wear one of those girl's uniforms to school cause the bile to rise in his throat.

"Fine. I think we understand each other. But be warned, I do have an extra girls uniform available that I am sure would fit you if you fail to behave and I am quite sure that I can get your parent's permission to put you in it. Your excused Master Bolling. You can return to your classroom."

Vince got up from the chair and nearly tripped over his own feet In his haste to get out of the Nun's office. Vince did behave himself, at least for several weeks. He stayed away from all of the girls even when not in school in fear of doing something stupid that would get back to Sister Angelica. But after several weeks the resolve faded. and he fell back into his old routine of being a "show off" in front of the other guys he hung around with. This was to prove to be his undoing.

Chapter 4

It was while on the way to a CCD class at St. Mary's one early afternoon during Thanksgiving holiday that Shawnlea had her next run in with Vince Bolling and a couple of his buddies. It was one of those rare occasions that Shawnlea was alone. She had however become more confident in her appearance in public and had decided that she would walk to catechism class. Karen had declined to accompany her, begging off because she did not feel well. Frances had gone to another friend's house for the day. Kathy had told Shawnlea to stay inside and to call Sister Gertrude and tell her that she would not be coming to class that day as she did not have a ride. Shawnlea really enjoyed the classes and did not want to miss it. She decided to walk to the school alone. After all, she reasoned, what can happen in the middle of the afternoon. She had learned the lessons of avoiding strangers and as long as she followed those rules she would be fine. It was an exceptionally warm November day even for Arizona standards. Shawnlea dressed in a mint green pleated skirt and white short sleeve blouse. She but on a pair of white knee length stockings and her low cut white and green Reeboks. Taking a white nylon windbreaker from her closet, she picked up her purse and catechism book and headed out the door locking it behind herself.

The walk to the school did not take long, especially if she cut through ball field behind the public school on School St. As Shawn he was quite familiar with all shortcuts around town. Shawnlea figured she would save close to ten minutes by taking this route to St. Mary's. And after all she reasoned who would bother her there in the middle of the day. She crossed the field to the other side and then cut through the short wooded path that lead to the rear of St. Mary's property.

She was totally engrossed in reviewing her catechism lesson for this day. She was halfway along the fifty foot path when she felt her feet go out from under her as she fell backward to the ground. As she fell backward she became acutely aware of the laughter behind her.

Shawnlea attempted to get to her feet. As she did she was pushed to the ground again. Her attacker was a boy of about her own age. She did not know him but he was a big kid. He started to laugh and then she heard others laughing too. She had not been able to see them at first but as they came out from behind some bushes Shawnlea saw that one that was laughing was Vince Bolling. Before she could attempt to get up a second time the three boys were standing around her.

"Is the one you told me about Vince? The one that likes to dress like a girl?"

Asked the big kid.

"Yeah. That's him. His name is Shawn." Vince replied with a sick grin on his face. "He used to be a pretty tough kid. Now look at him. A fairy for sure."

"The third boy started to laugh again. "Damned but his looks good for a boy.

Better than my sister as a matter of fact." The third boy said.

The bigger boy seemed to be the ringleader. Walking around to the side so that he could look straight at Shawnlea as she lay semi-prone on the ground. Shawnlea was terrified. What was left of Shawn wanted to get up and defend himself. But he knew it was hopeless. Shawnlea however was trying desperately to figure out some way to extricate herself from the situation without fighting.

"I wonder if he has started to grow boobs Mike. I heard that sometimes these fairies take stuff to make boobs grow." The younger boy said using the bigger boy's name for the first time.

Before Shawnlea could react Mike had reached down and grabbing Shawnlea's blouse in the front, gave a quick pull and ripped open the front of the blouse.

"I don't know about boobs but he sure has on a pretty bra." He said

"Leave me alone. I didn't do anything to you" Shawnlea pleaded.

"The little girl wants us to leave her alone guys. I think maybe he is a girl.

Are you a girl?" Mike asked menacingly.

Shawnlea had manage to get to one knees. In doing so, the Vince had caught a glimpse of her panties as her skirt had ridden up as she attempted to rise from the prone position.

"He's even wearing pretty panties." Vince said with a laugh.

"Then he must be a 'girl'. I think she will like this then." The older boy said with a sneer at the same time he put his hand to the zipper of his pants and pulled it down. The boy reached into his pants and his erect penis sprang out. The other boys doubled over laughing hysterically.

Shawnlea knew that she had to do something quick. Adrenaline surged through her system. She sprang to her feet. She reacted so quickly that none of her assailants could stop her. Her purse and catechism book was still on the ground but she did not even consider picking them up. Shawnlea bolted for the safety that the street would provide. She never looked back but ran as fast as she could out onto the street.

She heard the mocking laughter behind her but the boys never followed. Instead they turned and walked the other way out into the ball field as if nothing had happened.

Shawnlea did not stop running until she reached the front door of St. Mary's administration building. Sister Mary Margaret, one of the novices came in answer to the frantic ringing of the doorbell. The nun took one look at Shawnlea, her clothes in disarray and holding her torn blouse closed.

"Child. What happened?" the astonished nun asked. Without waiting for an answer the nun helped Shawnlea into Sister Angelica's office which was empty. The nun went over to the phone and whispered into it. It was less than thirty seconds later that Sister Angelica came into the office. She gave the young novice a nod of her head and the younger nun immediately left the room.

As soon as the novice had left Shawnlea ran over to Sister Angelica and wrapped her arms around the nun's waist. At that moment all the tension and fear came out.

Shawnlea started to cry. Heavy sobs broke up her voice as she tried to tell everything all at once. Sister Angelica placed her hand on the back of Shawnlea's head and held her close. She was wise in the ways of her girls. She just waited and comforted her.

Thirty minutes later Shawnlea had calmed down and told the nun what had happened. When she was finished her explanation and was satisfied that Shawnlea had calmed down sufficiently, She summoned Sister Gertrude. The catechism class being over. She asked Sister Gertrude to help Shawnlea get cleaned up and when the two had left her office, she picked up the phone and called Kathleen at Honeybone.

Kathleen was in Jo-Ellen's office reviewing the new pension plan with her boss when the call came in from the school. Kathleen was at once apprehensive. There was no reason for the school to call today she thought. Shawnlea and Frances were not there. Taking the phone from Jo-Ellen she answered.

"Hello this is Kathleen. Oh hello Sister."

Jo-Ellen watched as Kathleen's smile faded and then turn white. Her fingers grasping the phone so tight that the knuckles lost their color.

"I understand." Thank you. I'll be over as soon as possible. Goodbye Sister and thank you for your help." Shawnlea hung up the phone. "Damned." Was all she said.

"Trouble Kathy?" Jo-Ellen asked with genuine concern.

"Yes. Shawnlea was accosted by some boys while walking to her catechism class. She managed to escape with some torn clothing but she is quite upset. She ran to the school and Sister Angelica is with her now."

"Kathy. Get your purse and coat. I'll go with you. We'll take the company van."

I'll have one of the facilities people bring your car home and they can pick me up at your house later. Just give your car keys. to your secretary." Jo-Ellen said.

Before leaving the office, Kathy called Matt at his office. She gave him a brief explanation and ask him to meet her at the school. Kathy heard Matt swear for the first time. "I'll be there Hon."

A short while later, The two women pulled up in front of St. Mary's School.

Sister Angelica met them at the door and escorted them to her office.

Matt was already there. Matt got up from his chair and went over to Kathy

"She's fine Kathy. I brought Tracy along. She's with Shawnlea now. Their down stairs with Sister Gertrude. Tracy brought along some clothes for Shawnlea to change into."

Thanks Matt. Jo-Ellen this is Matt Williams. My fiancee.

Matt, Jo-Ellen Nolan, My boss.

Matt and Jo-Ellen shook hands in greeting. Sister Angelica smiled at the indirect news of Matt and Kathy's engagement but remained silent as the introductions were made.

With the introduction out of the way, Sister Angelica spoke up. Ladies, Matt please make yourself comfortable. I would like to give you what information I have on this dreadful incident before the girls come back upstairs." I'll send for some tea and then we can talk. She call on the phone and after asking that some tea be brought in she turned to Jo-Ellen.

"I want to thank you dear for that generous donation last month. I was able to use the funds to procure some uniforms for our less affluent students. They were sorely needed."

Jo-Ellen blushed slightly. Since becoming a woman, She had developed a shyness about her personal life that had never been the case with Joe Bates.

"Your welcome Sister. I'm glad it was put to good use." Jo-Ellen replied.

The tea arrived and after settling in with their refreshments, Sister Angelica turned to Kathy who was sitting on the sofa next to Matt.

"First of all Kathy, I want to assure you that Shawnlea was not hurt physically. I do believe however that she suffered a bit of mental trauma from the actions of that older boy. The ringleader of the incident. I would suggest that Shawnlea be allowed to broach this subject to you in her own way. These are the facts as I understand them."

Sister Angelica then told Kathy and Matt of the incident as it had been explained to her by Shawnlea earlier.

Matt and Kathy listened without comment. Jo-Ellen had discreetly walked over and perused the trophy case on the other side of the room in order to remain politely at a distance.

Matt could feel Kathy tremble as the facts were laid out by Sister Angelica When she got to the part were the boy Mike exposed himself she nearly dropped the tea cup and saucer, her hands trembled so badly.

"This boy, Mike. Does he have a last name Sister?"

"From what I gather, Shawnlea does not know him or the third boy.

But I am quite certain the Bolling boy does. The Nun replied

"Have you contacted Vince Bolling's parents about this incident Sister."

Matt asked.

"No Mr. Williams. I felt it best to contact Mrs. O'Malley first. The decision to take this any further is strictly hers. I think it would be appropriate to talk to Shawnlea first. A public exposure to this situation could be embarrassing to to everyone involved."

"Sister, I think now would be an appropriate time to talk to Shawnlea. would you call here now please"?

"Certainly Mrs. O'Malley. Would you like to be alone with her?"

"Yes Sister for a few minutes then I would like Matt and Tracy to join us." Replied Kathleen softly. Matt gave her a re-assuring squeeze of her hand as she got up from the sofa.

"I will call Sister Gertrude and have her brought to my private study across the hall. You can wait for her there. Please take all the time you need. "Matt. I will have Tracy brought in here to wait with you." Sister Angelica turned to Jo-Ellen. "Would you care to join me in the garden dear? It has been awhile since we last met and I have something you might be able to help us with."

Chapter 5

Sister Gertrude had helped Shawnlea get cleaned up and changed into the clean jeans and blouse that Tracy had brought with her. The conversation had been muted and Sister Gertrude had not pressed the issue. She had noticed that the boy/girl had looked acted quite distressful at first but by the time she got the call from Sister Angelica to bring the child up to the study Shawnlea had seemed a lot more relaxed and cheerful.

Kathy stood by the window of the study that looked out over the garden. She watched as Sister Angelica and Jo-Ellen walked the side door and into the walkway. The door to the study opened and Shawnlea entered. The nun gave Kathy a nod of her head and a smile and then discreetly closed the door and left. Shawnlea stood there looking at her mother for a moment and then ran over and put her arms around her mother's waist and buried her in Kathy's bosom. The girl started to cry.

"It, it was aw-aw- awful. Mother." Shawnlea stammered. "That boy was going to do something bad if I hadn't gotten away." She said almost hysterically.

"I know dear. I know. Sit down here next to me and tell me what happened."

Kathy said, patting the cushion on the sofa.

At first Shawn said nothing as he sat next to his mother. After a long pause Shawn repeated the story. Kathy listened intently. She knew that this was not the time for judgment or chastisement but rather one of understanding and support. Shawn attempted to apologize for not obeying his mother and staying home but Kathy told him it was okay and not to worry about that.

"I was scared mother. That boy was about to make me do something dirty and I could think of nothing except to run as fast as I could."

"You did the right thing dear. If you had tried to fight him you would have probably lost and he would have done what he wanted with you."

"I know. That's why a ran when I could. Mother I wish I was a real girl then he would not have dared to do that. It was all Vince's fault. He has a big mouth and had to tell the other kids about me."

The last statement took Kathy by surprise. It was the first time that Shawn had actually said that he wanted to stay as a girl. She looked at the boy intently.

Shawn tried to suppress a whimper. Kathy reached over and pulled Shawn into an embrace. The boy in girl's clothing finally let go. He let all the tension go. He cried long and hard. Kathy gently stroked his hair as he buried his face in her boson.

"Whatever you want to do Shawnlea we will find a way. I promise. Kathy said gently as Shawnlea regained her composure."

The child had stopped crying and raising herself from her mother's embrace, asked "Do you mean that Mother? Really?"

"Yes dear, I do." Kathy replied with a weak smile.

Shawnlea grabbed Kathy and gave her a hug. For the first time since the incident at the park. Shawnlea smiled. "Thank you. I have to tell Tracy and Karen."

Kathy knew at that moment that the die had been cast. There was no turning back.

It was about 5 minutes later that Matt and Tracy came into the study. Shawnlea had returned to relative normalcy and Kathy told the two girls to go outside and wait by the cars. After the girls had left, Kathy gave Matt a recounting of what had been said.

One outside, Shawnlea told Tracy what had happened at the park. Tracy of course became furious. She did not like the Bolling boy after the incident at the church and she immediately blamed him for what had happened to her friend.

"When Shawnlea told Tracy about her mother's promise to let her become a real girl if she wanted, Tracy forgot all about Vince. Instead She grabbed Shawnlea and hugged her. The two girls started to cry with joy. Their bond became closer than ever.

Jo-Ellen had left for home after her walk in the garden with Sister Angelica. The maintenance man had arrived with Kathy's car and after saying good by to everyone and offering Kathy any assistance she could, drove the man back the Honeybone plant.

Sister Angelica had promised to contact the Bolling boy's parents and have an interview with them and the boy. No decision had been made to make any formal complaints. However everyone had agreed that the identities of the other two boys had to be determined and their parents contacted if only to prevent any future incidents. The Nun promised to be in touch as soon as she had any other information.

With that Matt and Kathy herded their charges into the vehicles and headed home.

Chapter 6 Shawnlea's Decision

During the month, Shawnlea, as children do, and with lots of understanding from supportive parents, improved dramatically from the traumatic experience. Tracy and Karen had made a point of being with her as much as possible and they made every effort to be together when they ventured outside. Kathy and Matt had announce to their children that they intended to get married and needless to say, Tracy and Shawnlea became ecstatic at the news that would soon make them step-"sisters". Karen was also elated at this development. That would make Shawnlea her cousin and that suited her just fine. Shawnlea did not make any further statements about wanting to be a real girl but as time progressed her words and actions belied any idea that Shawn would be 'coming' back any time soon if ever. As for the three boys that had assaulted Shawnlea, Tracy had wanted to confront Vince Bolling but had been told by her father to stay away from him and to let Sister Angelica and Kathy handle the matter. Of course Tracy complied with her father's admonition.

Sister Angelica met with Vince Bolling's parents three days later. As it turned out Vince had met and befriended the other two boys at the ball field the morning of the incident. The boys had been visiting relatives for the Thanksgiving Holiday and had left for home in California the following Sunday. Sister Angelica could do nothing about the two other boys but she was certainly upset with Vince. After a long consultation with his parents, a course of action was decided upon that would teach Vince a lesson and give him a perspective on what he had done to Shawnlea. A week after the incident, Vince, found himself, totally embarrassed, enrolled in the Girl's School resplendent in a pigtail wig and a St. Mary's girl's uniform, and sitting between Karen and Shawnlea.

By Christmas holiday, Vince, now Virginia Bolling had a new perspective. He had actually become friends with Shawnlea and Karen. Tracy had some reservations about the new 'girl' but was at least willing to give her the opportunity to prove that a change had occurred. Needless to say, everyone was much more at ease with Vince now that he was in dresses and pigtails. The consensus was that the little girl look did wonders for his attitude and demeanor.

On Christmas Eve afternoon, Kathy and Matt held a Christmas party. Invited was Karen and her mother, Lisa Moore, Kelly Hardings, and her parents, Susan, David and Cassie Carey, Jo-Ellen Nolan her husband and even the Bollings .

Angie and Phil Bolling had become friends of Kathy and Matt during the past month and they felt the chance for Vince to interact with the other 'girls' on a social level would be good for 'her'. The Bollings at first hesitated at the invitation but after Matt's assurances that they would be most welcome, they agreed to come. The invitations had stated that it was a semi formal party and appropriate dress for the Christmas season was requested.

Christmas Eve day was a gorgeous day. The temperature in the 60s made ideal conditions for decorating the outside patio. Shawnlea, Frances and Karen had started early in the morning hanging red and green bunting and setting out decorations on the patio tables.

By the time Tracy and Matt arrived the girls had finished. Matt had bought a tree on the way over and he set it in a stand on the deck. It only took him a short time to string the lights on the tree.

'There. That's done. Now why don't you young ladies think about getting dressed for the party. We will hang the decorations when everyone gets here this afternoon."

Karen turned to Shawnlea and her sister. "See you soon guys. I'll be back with my mom as soon as I get dressed." Karen said. She was half way down the stairs that lead to the back yard when Tracy walked onto the patio carrying a tray of snacks for the party. "See you later Tracy." She said as she turned the corner and was out of sight. "Where's Karen going?"

Tracy asked curiously.

"She is going home to get dressed for the party. I think Frances and I better do the same thing." Shawnlea replied. Tracy put down the tray on one of the patio tables.

"Okay. I'll help your Mom get the rest of the food out onto the patio while you are getting dressed. I am dying to see what your going to wear." Tracy said with a girlish giggle.

Shawnlea and Frances just smiled. "Yeah us too. Our Mom wouldn't let us see what she bought for us until we got the patio decorated. She said that our dresses were hanging up in my room. So I guess we can go see for ourselves. I hope it is as pretty as the one you have on Tracy.

Tracy had worn a lovely red satin tea length dress. It was trimmed with wide white lace trim on sleeves that ended just below the elbow. The bodice was embroidered with a delicate white and gold design of small carnations. The dress was accented perfectly with the white tights and red patent shoes that Tracy wore.

Shawnlea had been a little jealous of Tracy's dress until she walked into her room with Frances.

The two girls saw their clothes laid out upon the bedspread. They looked at each other and big smiles appeared on their faces. On the bed were to sets of party clothes.

They were identical to what Tracy was wearing. Shawnlea turned to Frances.

"I think Mom and Matt are up to something Sis. This is just too much. "The dresses are pretty though Shawn don't you think?" The smaller girl said innocently. Shawnlea just smiled at the reference made to his masculine name. She knew that it was a slip of the tongue by Frances. Shawnlea lapsed into a brief daydream.

For a moment Shawn returned to his own thoughts as a boy. He thought of how, a few months earlier, it would have been to put on such apparel and he would have fought against it. Yet now as Shawnlea, He had no reservations about it at all. He was looking forward to getting dressed in these pretty things.

It seemed as though He as Shawn, was a distant person now. Almost like an old friend rather than himself.

Shawnlea put the thought out of her head and returned to the matter at hand in response to a question from Frances. "I'm sorry Sis. What did you say." Shawnlea asked?.

"Do you want me to get dressed in my own room Shawnlea or should I stay here with you?"

"Don't be silly Frances. Stay here. We can help each other get dressed" Shawnlea replied.

"I was not sure Shawnlea. You really being a boy and all." Frances said with genuine sincerity.

The innocent comment hit Shawnlea like a hammer blow. She sat down on the bed and started to weep. Frances came over and put her arm around Shawnlea. The two girls held each other for several minutes. Finally Shawnlea said something quietly. Almost from the bottom of her soul. "Not Any More" she said as a whisper so softly that Frances broke the hold they each had on one another and looked Shawnlea in the eyes.

"What did you say Sis?" She asked

"Not any more Frances. I'm a girl now and intend to stay one." Shawnlea said softly.

With that admission Frances leaped at her sister and embraced her with a hug.

Frances said nothing but the kiss she gave Shawnlea on the cheek and the tears that started to flow out of the girl's eyes said it all. "That is the best Christmas present ever." Frances finally said as the two girls tumbled to the carpet in a mock wrestling match. "What is" Shawnlea asked.

"Giving me a sister ." Frances said as a matter of fact.

It took them a little longer to get ready than expected. It was nearly an hour before the two 'sisters' appeared at the top of the stairs that lead down to the living room area.

Chapter 7 The Surprise

Tracy had just walked down the lower hallway towards the living room when

Shawnlea and Frances started down the stairs. Tracy's face lit up like a beacon when she saw her friends. She stood at the foot of the stairs and slowly but silently in imitation of clapping her hands as the girls walked down the stairs. They were dressed identical to herself. It was if they were sisters and had been dressed alike. As they surely were. There was and unsaid reality that the girls seemed to realize. That this had been planned. But why?

That was the silent question that went through the older girls minds. When Shawnlea and

Frances reached the bottom of the stairs Tracy gave each girl a simple hug. The big surprise was when at that moment the front door banged open an in ran Cassie. She stopped dead in her tracks and the other three girls just stood and looked at her, their mouths wide open.

Cassie was also dressed the same. Susan and her husband David came in the front door just behind Cassie. Susan and David greeted Shawnlea, Frances and Tracy with a "Merry Christmas" but made no mention of the fact that all four girls were dressed the same.

Susan immediately took charge and instructed the girls to go into the living room for awhile and to not get their clothes wrinkled.

"Tracy, usually quite astute and quick to pick up on what's going on around her was at a loss for words. "What's going on Shawnlea? Something is up. Tracy asked."

"I don't know Tracy. For that matter I haven't seen my mom or your dad for awhile. Not since before Frances and I went up to get changed."

"I know. The went upstairs just after you guys did and told me to watch TV until your Aunt got here. I haven't see them since." Tracy responded.

"Yeah and now Aunt Susan and Uncle David have gone upstairs as well." Frances piped in.

Frances and Cassie ran into the living room and were immediately immersed in a Disney Christmas Story on the TV. Shawnlea and Tracy went out on the patio to wait for the other guests to arrive. It was only a few minutes, when Karen came onto the patio through the sliders. Shawnlea saw Mrs. Hargraves go into the kitchen with a large tray in her hands.

Karen looked terrific. Her hair was set in a French braid and it was apparent that thin red and white ribbons had been braided into her hair when the hair was done up. The effect was cute and very Christmas like.

She was wearing a beautiful white brocade dress that came just above her knees. At the waist was a wide red ribbon that tied into a large bow in the back. The white tights and red Mary-Jane's gave her just the right little girl look. Maybe just a little bit too young thought Shawnlea but still the look that Karen loved.

It was close to 2 PM when Janet ushered all the girls together out on the patio with instructions to remain there until they were called. There was definitely some happening. The girls could sense it but try as they might, and speculate they did, they just could not figure it out.

They did not have long to wait. From the patio the girls could not see the number of cars that had arrived but they knew from the number of times the doorbell rang that quite a few people had arrived and had been ushered into the living room. All except one guest. Janet had shortly after Karen had arrived escorted another girl to the patio. It was Vince or rather Virginia Bolling. Janet had tarried for a few minutes to see if there was going to be a problem with the new arrival and the other girls. There was a few long moments when the new arrival stood in the doorway and looked at Shawnlea and Tracy.

To Janet's surprise, Virginia went over to Shawnlea and offered her, her hand.

"I'm sorry Shawn. Really I am. I should not have done to you what I did."

Shawnlea hesitated for a moment and then instead of taking Virginia's hand, she reached out and embraced the boy turned girl in a genuine act of friendship.

As Janet left the room she looked over her shoulder and observed the others gathered around the pair. They were all smiles and it was obvious that forgiveness had been asked for and readily given. Virginia was now one of the group.

Janet felt a wariness in her heart. These boys (except for one) acted more like real girls should than their real counterparts. If only they really were girls-She thought.

Fifteen minutes later the children were ushered into the living room. Janet made the announcement that Kathy and Matt were about to be married. A surprise Christmas present to Shawnlea, Frances and Tracy. The girls had known for some time that their parents were going to get married but they had not known when.

This announcement gave each of the girls quite a surprise. Even Tracy, the stalwart of the group became overly excited at this early announcement.

The priest, standing by the fireplace, motioned the three girls to come forward and stand near the front beside him. All the other guests had taken seats around the room. Janet put disc in the CD player and as the strains of the Ave Maria started to play, Kathy and Matt, followed by Susan and David appeared at the top of the stairs. They slowly walked down the staircase and entered the living room.

The ceremony was short but tasteful. There was a consecration of the couple, the wedding prayers, the exchange of vows and a pronouncement and the benediction. No Mass had been celebrated so the ceremony had only taken about a half hour.

When the priest presented the newly weds to the guests, there was a sustained applause from the small gathering. Shawnlea and Tracy found out why people do cry at weddings. The three girls, now united as a family cried tears of happiness as they were hugged by their newly married parents

From that point on the Christmas party/Wedding party commenced with Janet and Susan supervising everything. The Williams family would remember it as the best party they would ever have. And the next morning as Shawnlea, Frances and Tracy had their first Christmas together as a family, they would remember it as the best one that they had ever has as well.

It was not until late in the evening when the lasts of the guests had left that Tracy was told by her Dad that they would be moving in with Kathy and her new "sisters" and that she would be bunking with Shawnlea for a few days until they could get everything moved. Needless to say that did not bother either of them at all. It was going to be a fun Christmas holiday. One that they had not expected.

Chapter 8

By the first week of February, Matt had moved everything that he and Tracy needed for the present into Kathleen's house. The rest he put in storage. Matt had paid the condo fees for the following year and then rented the condo to a young newly wed couple.

Kathy had cleaned out Shawn's old room and redecorated it for Tracy. Kathy had asked Shawnlea if she would like to have her old room back but Shawnlea had decided to stay in the room she now had. Kathy was really surprised when the young girl had replied to her inquiry with a "Don't need it any more." response. Kathleen knew that she had to have a real serious talk with her 'daughter'. She resolved to do just that during the vacation that She and Matt planned for their extended family during Easter school break.

The following three months passed swiftly. Needless to say, Shawnlea and Frances soon bonded with Tracy and to each other closer than any three natural sisters. They went everywhere and did everything together. Even Kathy and Matt were surprised at the closeness that their extended family had developed. Not withstanding, the other "girls".

Karen, Lisa, Virginia and Kelly were not left out. To the contrary, The seven youngsters seemed always to be together whenever possible. This obviously drew all the parents together as well and soon the adults were even socializing together. Only a commune would have a closer relationship between adults and children of different families. At St. Mary' School, Sister Angelica had observed this unique friendship as well and she was quite pleased. It made her job a lot more simple.

The packing had been completed for the trip to Disney World and all that remained was for the shuttle service to pick them up the next morning. Matt and Kathy had taken the girls out for supper since they had not wanted to have to grocery shop before leaving. Upon returning home Kathy had the kids get ready for bed and after getting their night gowns on Kathy called Shawnlea and Tracy into the parlor for a "mother /daughter talk" as she had put it.

Matt had conveniently taken Frances up to the bedroom to tuck her in. Kathy knew it was time to talk seriously with the two older 'girls'. She knew quite well that puberty would soon overtake the kids and their maleness, albeit, well hidden, would soon make for some hard to answer questions. It was time for a decision to be made and soon. Kathy and Matt along with Janet had met with only the week before to Dr. Krell at Jo-Ellen Nolin's insistence. After a lengthy conversation had been quite surprised at the options available to them through his equipment.

Tracy. Shawnlea and Karen had to decide. It was theirs to make and Matt and Kathy had decided that whatever the 'girls' decided, they would honor. Even if it meant Tracy and Shawn would return as the boys that they had been born as.

There was no question in Janet's mind what Karen's choice would be but she had agreed to give him the same options. Karen had been invited on the trip to Disney world and Janet was at that moment having the same conversation with her child. There would be no surprises between the girls during the trip but they sure would have a lot to talk about.

Tracy and Shawnlea were both aware that this was going to be a serious talk.

The two sat together on the sofa waiting for Kathy to open the conversation.

For several minutes Kathy just sat across from the 'girls' and look at them. How sweet they looked. Their long hair tied back into ponytails that each had pulled over their shoulders and down over their matching pink bathrobes. Just a hint of the makeup still evident on their faces. They looked so sweet and innocent.

Nothing like the unruliness that boys seemed to always present. Kathy dreaded this talk. She feared that what she was about to present could very well cause her two daughters to make the choice that could lead to her girls disappearing forever. But in heart she knew that the choices had to be the children's and not hers or Matts.

"You both look lovely tonight." Kathy said. Breaking the silence.

Thank you mother the two girls answered in unison. Both giggling at the similarity of their response. Tracy had immediately after the wedding started addressing Kathy as Mother.

"Tracy, Shawnlea I will not beat about the bush. I really need to know how you both feel about living as young girls. I know you like it somewhat Tracy but Shawnlea, you haven't said too much about it since before Christmas."

Tracy was the first to respond. "Mother is something wrong? Are we in some sort of trouble?" the girl asked. Obvious concern in her voice.

"No, no dear, nothing of the sort. It's just that your father and I have talked this over and if either of you want to go back to being boys again we will not stop you. All your father and I want is to make you both happy. Sister Angelica has agreed to enroll either or both of you in the boys division after we get back from vacation if you decide to do that.

Tracy looked at Shawnlea and she in turn looked back at her new sister. Almost in unison they both looked back at Kathy and shook their head and simultaneously said "No".

For a moment Kathy was taken aback by the quick response from both the 'girls'.

"Tracy I know you had said that you someday wanted to become a real girl and that your father had said he would let you and we are not trying to change your mind, it's just that we want to give you both a chance to be what you were born to be. As for you Shawnlea as of this minute you punishment of having to live as a girl is ended. Tomorrow if either of you want to give up this impersonation you may.

There is one other choice available to you both. There is a doctor, his name is Krell and he has perfected a magnetic machine that when you sit in it for ten minutes your bodies will change and in a few hours you become girls. Real girls. You will look a little younger afterward but not much. If either of you want to become real girls Doctor Krell will make the arrangements as soon as we get back.

"Why so soon?" asked Shawnlea worriedly.

Because dear, you are both reaching the age when you will start changing into young men. Girl's clothes and makeup will not hide that fact. Did you ever see a girl with beard or a mustache and no boobs"?

Tracy and Shawnlea started to laugh at the thought.

"I tell you what, tomorrow we will be leaving for Disney world. Lets have fun and when we get back you can give us your answer. Okay?" Kathy asked.

"No Mother! The girls replied firmly and again in unison as though they had a common brain.

"What did you say Shawnlea? Kathy asked. Not so surprised at Tracy's but definitely with Shawnlea's rapid retort. Did you say No.?"

"No. Mother. We like being girls now and do not want to go back to that yucky boy's stuff again. Shawnlea and Tracy turned to each other and reaching out locking themselves in a embrace.

"Besides, said Tracy looking Kathy in the eyes, we like being sisters.

For the first time in a many months Kathy started to weep. This time it was tears of happiness. Both girls got up and ran to Kathy. One on each side reached out and hugged their mother.

Chapter 9

Dr. Krell sat in his overstuffed chair in his conference room, he studied the five 'girls' seated across from him on the large sofa. The girls parents listened and observed the interview from the adjoining room through the one way mirror that was installed in one wall.

Shawnlea, Tracy, Karen, Lisa and Kelly sat rigidly still and listened as Dr.

Krell started to speak. Even though the girls parents had explained in principle the procedure and what it would do, the children were obviously quite nervous and a little skeptical. Dr. Krell was quite aware of this as well and was in no rush.

It was after all, not the parents who would make the final and irreversible decision to go forward. It was the children individually who would have to do that and Dr. Krell was determined to give them every opportunity to do just that. He had to make sure that these children understood what was involved and that the procedure was permanent. He explained the side effect of becoming younger. "Maybe a few years but no more six" Dr. Krell told them. He had fibbed a little about the age results. He had thought that the children would balk at the idea of become six year olds again. The boys didn't even flinch. Tracy spoke up to this. "Better a real six year old girl than like I am now." her bluntness actually shook Dr. Krell. This child was dead serious he thought. In actuality Krell had found the cause of the de-aging process and had developed a serum to prevent this side effect or halt it at any point he wanted.

These would be the first children that he had applied for sex re-assignment and he was determined that there would be no legal repercussions afterward. He was quite sure after reading the transcripts supplied by the parents that four of the children were quite sure of their desire to be girls. He was not quite so sure with Shawnlea.

Dr. Krell spent the better part of the morning interviewing each boy both in group session and individually. He put Shawnlea off to until last. He was quite impressed with the sincerity of the boy's answers to his questions. Dr. Krell was blunt.

He explained all the good and bad of each sex. He made every attempt to dissuade the child from proceeding with the change over. At one point he had even told the boy "That there was no way he could ever make a persuading girl." He tried to make Shawn believe that being a girl was demeaning and second class. At that attempt Shawn just laughed. His reply to Dr. Krell was to "take a good look and say it again with a straight face." Even Dr. Krell had to laugh at the boy's candor.

By Late afternoon it was decided that the five boy's could proceed with the treatment. The parents signed the necessary forms and permissions as well as did each of the children. It was agreed that they would stay at the clinic that night and go into the treatment room together the following afternoon.

They would spend the morning viewing the necessary videos and would get one last opportunity to withdraw just before exposure to the radiation. Dr. Krell was sure a couple of the children would back out. To his surprise, none did.

That evening, the five children and their parents spent the evening together. Part of Dr. Krell's psychology was to give the boys one last chance to realize what they were giving up. That evening, for the first time, the five friends were together not as girls but as boys. Each had been required to shed their female apparel and dress as boys. All semblance of femaleness was removed from their environment. The holding room was decorated with those things that boys hold dear. Baseball posters were on the wall alongside the latest pictures of the current female rock stars. Nintendo was set up in the room. along with other items dear to the young preteen male. Each child was instructed to use their real male name for the evening. The parents were also instructed to interact with their children only as males. As it was, Tracy was the only one who did not have to use a different name as that was the one given him as a boy. Lisa had to revert to Larry, Kelly to Karl and of course Shawn and Kevin.

Each of the children were given generically neutral PJs to wear and white hospital bathrobes. Each parent was instructed to refrain from any comments or actions that would be considered feminine in their responses to the boys.

It was to say the least a strained evening. None of the boys seemed to exhibit any interest in their surroundings. Rather, they persistently stayed close together talking about what was about to happen. By evenings end Dr. Krell, who had monitored the activities in the holding room via CCTV came to the conclusion that these five youngsters had indeed passed the point of returning to their former male persona.

At one PM the following afternoon the five children were administered the anti-aging serum and were ushered into the exposure room. Each was instructed to get into one of the five hospital beds that had been set up in a circle directly under the large mesh ball that hung from the ceiling. Two plastic chairs were set up next to each bed.

Dr. Krell asked each boy individually if he wanted to change his mind. Each in turn replied no or shook his head in the negative. Dr. Krell then turned to the parents.

"Folks, as the parents of these boys you know that I can not proceed on just their wishes. They are after all minors. Even though this procedure is perfectly legal now, I must still give you one last chance to take your son out of this room. One I push the button that is it. Your son will become your daughter permanently and completely. There is no reversal possible. Additionally I would expect that each of these boys will loose about 2 years of age anatomically but this will not effect them mentally at all. They will still remember everything. I would expect them to sleep until tomorrow morning at which time I think you will be quite surprised. They will look somewhat different. They will look like the girls that they would have been had they been born female." Dr. Krell paused for the effect of his words to sink in.

"Do any of you wish to withdraw your son at this time? I am going to step outside the room and shut off the microphones to give you privacy. Whatever you decide will be final. When everyone has left the room that is going to leave, I will push the button. Boys. This is your last chance. Please take this time to talk with your parents. But if your truly serious, my best wishes go with you. Dr. Krell turned and left the room.

The parents each went to the bed of their son and sat in the chairs. Kathleen next to Shawnlea and Matt next to Tracy. They had taken the beds next to each other. Then Karen, Lisa, and Kelly to complete the circle.

Kathleen took Shawn's hand in hers. "Well Shawn, we have come a long way in the last year. I know that this girl stuff was suppose to be punishment but this is a long way from that. Are you sure you want to do this son? If you want to change your mind it is okay. I promise you this, I will never force you to be a girl again no matter what."

Shawn looked into his mothers eyes. He saw a bit of sadness there. He was not sure of what she wanted but he was sure of one thing. He did not want to go backward but would do so if his mother wanted him to. He had come to understand her love for him more than ever during the last year. He did not want to lose that by making a mistake.

"Mother can I ask you something?"

"Certainly Shawn. What is it?"

"Do you like me more as a girl or as a boy.?"

Kathleen was taken aback by the candor of the question. She understood immediately that this was the crucial question. The future of her child rested on her answer. How did she really feel and would Shawn find happiness in her answer. She paused for almost a minute as she searched her own mind for the truth. Shawn continued to look into her eyes. She could feel the intensity in his gaze yet he seemed at peace with himself.

Finally Kathleen came to understand her own feelings and Shawn's. At least she was going to be honest with him and hope for the best. "Shawn I love you no matter who or what you are. But you want the truth and I will not lie to you. The last year has made me the happiest mother in the world I think. I really liked you as a girl but I will love you no matter who you are."

"Thank you mother. I really hated the first few months of being made to be be a girl. But... I do not want to give it up. Please let me be your daughter for real?"

Kathleen started to cry. She reached out and hugged Shawn like she had never done before. The decision had been made.

"Thank you Shawnlea." Kathy kissed her soon to be daughter on the brow, tears streaming down her face.

Thirty minutes later the parents left the room. None of the 'girls' came with them. Two minutes later Dr. Krell pushed the button and started the treatment.

Epilogue

Summer vacation had arrived. Sister Angelica gave each of her girls the same admonition that she did each year about how to stay save and have fun at the same time. She wished each girl a great summer and told them that she looked forward to seeing each of them in the fall. She watched as her five 'new' and special girls walked down the driveway toward the school buses. They had come a long way. In the fall, each would move over to the regular girl's school program. She had had many 'girls' in her special program but this was the first time that any had moved to the regular program. She was happy for them. They seemed so happy and contented. They had adjusted well to their new status. She was sure now that the transformation had been so successful that they would not be the last. A whole new 'ball game' had opened up and she was going to take advantage of it.

Tracy, Karen and Shawnlea enrolled in the local ballet school. It was there that they met and befriended another girl by the name of Amy. They became fast friends. It was later that they learned about Amy's strange but true 'transformation'. (Read: Amy dear Amy by Donna Allyson).

As always there were sad times. Lisa and then later Kelly moved away. Their parents moved for one reason or another. The two young girls promised to keep in touch. Each exchanging their addresses with the others.

There was no doubt in any of the parent's mind. The changes that had occurred in their lives was for the best. The girls were happy and as was expected as they entered puberty their interest in boys increased. This was a whole new scenario for the parents. But they would cope. Matt was like the traditional father everywhere. He was at some times quite intimidating to his daughters' beaus but he had only their best interests at heart. After all his girls were beautiful and were always sought after. This was a challenge in it's own right and Matt relished in it.

As for Shawnlea, she went on to continue her career in dance. First as a ballerina with the San Francisco Ballet Company and later as a professional dance instructor. She married a young advertising executive and had three children of her own. Twin girls and a boy. Kathleen had been ecstatic at young Shawn's birth. She finally had a boy to spoil. She was determined that he would never see a skirt on his waist. Shawnlea of course had other ideas if he turned out like she had. "He had better behave." She had once told Kathleen. "Sister Angelica is still in business." Both women had laughed long and hard at that.

As for Dr. Krell, he eventually turned the business over to two of his assistants. Two young women doctors by the name of Tracy and Karen.

As for Lisa and Kelly, each had married and settled down to the life of a dedicated homemakers and mothers. They did keep in touch with their 'sisters'. Each of the five former friends eventually started to have a vacation/reunion every three years. These short interludes came to be the best memories of their lives.
